i love so many things about this scene it's not even funny... so first it's so obvious Josh likes Maya and is just waiting until Lucas is out of the way, he is so nervous when he asks about WHO did Lucas pick and then when Lucas asks about Riley, he just enjoys taunting him the rest of the time cause he figures Lucas picked Riley, when the guy joins them Josh is trying not to laugh cause (and that's the second thing I love) Lucas is more jelous over a random guy Riley talked to than Josh who Maya had a crush on since anyone can remember, also Josh is just pocking the Lucas flame at this point with his questions... third thing is Josh's face right after 'i like helping people to places they never thought they could go' because it basically confirms everything, it's a face of a person who wants to try to do something (be with Maya) he never thought he could do (due to the age difference) and who has all the infromation to know it's possible and all he has to do is act (talk to Maya), just look how he nervously swallows like his whole visit was coming down to this moment... also Josh immediatly looks at Maya when the girls come in... the last thing i love about this scene is Cory of course cause he is hilariour (also he let Josh play the game with them which is interesting on its own)

Don’t get me wrong, I love Joshaya as much as you do, but I have to respectfully disagree with your analysis. It would be kind of predatory and gross for Josh to be thinking of her romantically at this age, and I don’t think that’s what’s happening here. We know that Josh spends a lot of time observing, meaning he likely picked up on all the same cues we did and knows there’s more going on in this triangle than a guy who can’t choose between two girls. Lucas has been very consistent in his feelings for Riley. The only thing that’s changed is his treatment of Maya and that’s more due to not wanting to hurt her than anything else. I do believe this was the episode where Josh’s eyes were opened to the fact Maya is not going to be a little girl forever. She’s grown a lot in the time he’s been away and he’s starting to see the *possibility* of the long game. I do believe had the show continued, we’d have seen a real friendship grow between them as they both lived out their lives, until they reached a place when romance was a viable option. But I don’t think he was going to sit and wait for her or her for him. That defeats the meaning of the quote the “long game” references from the original BMW

It really gets on my nerve seeing comments about how Josh manipulated Maya into not choosing Lucas. Josh never did anything of that sort in the first place and he never took advantage of her. If he did, he would have chosen the first option Maya presented to him, six weeks of holding hands but he didn't. He never told her to stop living her life, only that if they were meant to be, somewhere down the line of it happens happens. As for the storyline of Maya being Riley for a while and liking Lucas at that time, many found it impossible. Believe me when I say, it can happen. I've been involve in a love triangle similar to Maya, Lucas and Riley. I thought I liked the guy but he chose my friend. It was only later did I come to the realization that to win his attention I started acting like her etc.
Ok but how about that undertone Feeney line: "You deserve what you get." Different situation as Feeney's use of the phrase was when Shawn and Cory were degrading the value of education for ratings and entertainment. Cory's was "I'm telling you this is not going to end well for any of you and if you pursue this then you're going to have to confront the consequences of what you learn"
I knew from the start (as did all BMW fans) that Evan was going to turn out to be Lauren's son. However, Evan is a very strange character: he is (somehow) omniscient - even if he did talk to Riley all night. I was half hoping that Evan would turn out to be dead or something - that there would be a supernatural element to the show. After all, he does do the classic spirit thing of talking to a complete stranger for a long time and helping them figure out their feelings.
I have talked to one of my guy friends all night before. There was nothing romantic about it. He was dating my cousin at the time. He was mostly gushing about her and we had more of a brother/ sister relationship because he was my classmate. People sometimes read too much into things.
