I know he was part of your family obviously. But know that he is no longer in pain and he is free. If it feels better to share your hurt with the world then do so. Buck was one of the cutest dogs I've ever seen but I didn't know he was so famous. Your arctic trek past Mount Thor with him was the most incredible bushcraft/camping/survival video I have ever seen. Buck was so at home there. What a good dog.

I was thinking the same thing as I watched his video. I lost "Pete", a Chocolate Lab, when he was 13. He had gotten kicked by a horse and never recovered. I was a total mess. No way I could have been composed enough to record a video talking about it. Have a great 2020. Roger
My heart breaks for you Jim. We've been there a few too many times as well. There's nothing like a real bond with a great dog and you guys were awesome dog parents. Up on the bridge right know he's telling all the other doggos what an incredible run he had and what awesome humans he got to ride with. Aww thank you so much. We weren’t expecting to loose him so soon and I ended up holding off on editing this series because I wasn’t ready to watch the footage of him. So I held off for a bit and in the end it’s been nice to watch it and see him in the footage but it’s definitely bitter sweet.

Jim, Tori, Wessley. I feel so bad for you but all of us dog owners are set up ultimately for the loss of our best friend and we all know it is going to hurt one day. I have been down that road a few times and I dread that future yet once again. The best we can do is offer our dogs love, enjoy all of the pleasures they bring us and comfort them as they comfort us. I am so glad I had the opportunity to meet Buck at the Winter Camping Symposium and the After Party. He made his rounds while you were being interviewed and I slipped him a couple of treats. Jim, I know this is late but I am so sorry for your loss of your faithful companion. This was a very beautiful tribute video that honored Buck so well. I was wondering about Buck when I watched a video or two recently and he was not in it, and then I saw this video and it all came together for me. He was such a beautiful dog and so smart too. I loved how he laid on the spray deck of the canoe as you went down the rivers. I don't think too many dogs would do that but Buck was so calm about it. I know your pain because in my 63 years I have lost many treasured animal friends. Even now my tomcat "Tomit" is nearing the end because his kidneys are starting to decline. His real name is "Thomas" but I call him "Tomit" as a term of endearment. He and his 3 sisters were born under my bed in 2005. I kept them all because I wanted to be sure they were loved and had a good home. His 3 sisters have passed: Scooter in 2009, Shorty in December 2020, and Honey in June 2021. It's been a very hard year for me because of that, and because of Tomit's health declining, and because of my own health conditions worsening. I hope I am able to watch your live video on Dec. 23rd. I wish you the best, Jim, and Merry Christmas to you!

I am new to your channel. Yesterday I watched Across Baffin Island, and was shocked and heartbroken at the end when I saw the In Memory of Buck Tag. Must have been tuff.
It was, it took me over a year before I started editing that Baffin Island footage for my YT channel as I was waiting on a magazine to pick it up and they never came through. At that point in needed the content for my income and had to start editing it right after Buck died. I then had to deal with all the belle ding hearts telling me that I killed him on this trip even though he died of cancer many months later after I spent $10,000 trying to save him.
Had the privilege of experiencing life with a malamute for many years. Smartest ,lovingest courageous dog I have ever witnessed. Like when buck went to his original home he knew . Absolutely amazing dogs.
I love your videos about paddling with Buck. My white Swiss Shepherd dog Amy travels with me in my canoe. We are thinking about you, and wish you strength ! Memories stay forever.

I am just shy of 70 and have had dogs all my life. ( My first memory is of picking up my puppy at 4. A Springer spaniel.) On 08/30/19 I lost the once in a lifetime dog you speak of. After Labs, Golden's Spaniels, Great Danes and even an Irish Wolfhound, Ozzie was my once in a lifetime. (An Australian Shepherd) You did I very nice job in your tribute to Buck

Jim, Tori, Wessley. I feel so bad for you but all of us dog owners are set up ultimately for the loss of our best friend and we all know it is going to hurt one day. I have been down that road a few times and I dread that future yet once again. The best we can do is offer our dogs love, enjoy all of the pleasures they bring us and comfort them as they comfort us. I am so glad I had the opportunity to meet Buck at the Winter Camping Symposium and the After Party. He made his rounds while you were being interviewed and I slipped him a couple of treats. Jim, I know this is late but I am so sorry for your loss of your faithful companion. This was a very beautiful tribute video that honored Buck so well. I was wondering about Buck when I watched a video or two recently and he was not in it, and then I saw this video and it all came together for me. He was such a beautiful dog and so smart too. I loved how he laid on the spray deck of the canoe as you went down the rivers. I don't think too many dogs would do that but Buck was so calm about it. I know your pain because in my 63 years I have lost many treasured animal friends. Even now my tomcat "Tomit" is nearing the end because his kidneys are starting to decline. His real name is "Thomas" but I call him "Tomit" as a term of endearment. He and his 3 sisters were born under my bed in 2005. I kept them all because I wanted to be sure they were loved and had a good home. His 3 sisters have passed: Scooter in 2009, Shorty in December 2020, and Honey in June 2021. It's been a very hard year for me because of that, and because of Tomit's health declining, and because of my own health conditions worsening. I hope I am able to watch your live video on Dec. 23rd. I wish you the best, Jim, and Merry Christmas to you!

I am new to your channel. Yesterday I watched Across Baffin Island, and was shocked and heartbroken at the end when I saw the In Memory of Buck Tag. Must have been tuff.
It was, it took me over a year before I started editing that Baffin Island footage for my YT channel as I was waiting on a magazine to pick it up and they never came through. At that point in needed the content for my income and had to start editing it right after Buck died. I then had to deal with all the belle ding hearts telling me that I killed him on this trip even though he died of cancer many months later after I spent $10,000 trying to save him.
Oh, my. So, so sorry. We are never, ever prepared for such a loss.

Had the privilege of experiencing life with a malamute for many years. Smartest ,lovingest courageous dog I have ever witnessed. Like when buck went to his original home he knew . Absolutely amazing dogs.

I am just shy of 70 and have had dogs all my life. ( My first memory is of picking up my puppy at 4. A Springer spaniel.) On 08/30/19 I lost the once in a lifetime dog you speak of. After Labs, Golden's Spaniels, Great Danes and even an Irish Wolfhound, Ozzie was my once in a lifetime. (An Australian Shepherd) You did I very nice job in your tribute to Buck

So sorry for your loss Jim. My thoughts are with you and Tori. Buck was a once in a lifetime dog. I lost my once in a lifetime dog last year, and watching this brought back a lot of memories.
I was watching your Baffin island series because I saw Buck pulling his sled and he looked so much like a full White Malamute that we had while living in Minnesota. His name was Polar and stayed outside all winter, he was a great dog. You will find another one soon. Take care.
