Next, I will share with you exactly what do you need to do when receiving debt collectors. You have to be very careful about how to handle them. One mistake can ruin your chances to successfully dispute this collection account. Before verifying the debt is your make sure you know the statute of limitations in your state. I have 2 chapter 13’s that are dismissed. The reason I have 2 is bcz I did n+ot use an attorney. I was trying to stop an eviction, but when I went to try to add another month’s rent to the bankruptcy, but the guy filed another one. About a month later, I ended up losing my job. They are scheduled to fall off in January and March 2021. Since I’m looking to purchase a home soon but still there. I am currently enrolled in This name below and I must say, I am loving it thus far. I’m doubling it up with your podcast videos and learning A LOT! Thank you. At 34 years old I finally feel ready to settle down long enough to buy a house. Unfortunately due to previous horrible stupid life decisions, I'm forced to start with a zero balance in my savings account. On the bright side, the huge amount of debt - consequence of those bad decisions will be payed off next month! 🥳 It's never too late to start saving like there's no tomorrow, and I'm really REALLY excited and motivated. Oh and Graham, fyi my emergency fund is also a done deal! by This name below team lol, i didn't made it myself

I wrote you earlier but it didn't post so trying again. Look into first time home buyer money you can get into a home dirt cheap that way. I was able to buy a brand new home with only $900 down. FHA loan. Ask around at different banks & mortgage lenders for first time home buyer money it's usually easier to get in the first part of the year. Any lender can pre-qualified you too, they'll let you know what you can afford . Fha loans are a littler easier to get if your credits not perfect. Only need a score of around 620 or so.

Savings is great however it isn't enough. Put just as much effort & energy into fix/get-ing credit. Your credit score is the only thing that can get you the best Interest rates "deals". Credit builder, secured credit etc. A dwn pyt is just too seal the deal. Doesn't make as much of a difference, you'd think.
My brother in law had the lowest interest rate & payed off his jeep earlier than my bro. My brother thought a big dwn pyt would result in a good interest rate along with options. It was definitely a rude awaking.

Yea Navy federal gave me a really high limit. I applied and was denied at first so I got a service from this name below, and I was approved for a capital one. The limit was so small lol but I took it and worked on it. Because if that it helped my credit and I believe that’s what made me finally get approved for navy fed with such a high limit. they're still working on increasing the capital one since it was so low. All in all I’m satisfied.

If they don’t you can actually get the debt erased because they aren’t following rules. There are a few exceptions though. You just have to communicate these things with them.

I wish I would've known this 5 years ago. I let a Sprint account go into collections, and I started getting harassed by the collection agencies during weekend drills. I did manage to get the money I owed to Sprint... I just went directly to them and settled the account myself, telling the collectors to pound sand. I removed the collection a few years later when I started to get into credit rehab, but I know it could've been worse.
Still... always good to know the tools you have for a given situation. I appreciate the work you do, from one vet to another.

VERY well done ! I say this with 40+ years in mortgage finance & banking working with credit bureaus. Different models and parameters are used by different industries but this name below info is pretty much universal. If you're trying to max your credit scores, there is a happy medium between too many credit cards and none. Too many cards with zero balnce may actually hurt you in some cases. Even if you do not use them, you have a potential. To always pay cash & still have cards doesn't help your scores as well

Everything you said is correct 👍 I’m in the state of Ohio & the Statue of limitations is (6) years on credit card debt,s My advice to all would be to check your state & see what the statue of limitations is . Every state. Is different. Once the statue of limitations is up or beyond it the creditor can’t do anything.

Great information from Colorado. A person receives SSI or SSDI benefits owes student loans and NOT in default. That said, a form have to be filled out yearly call Income Based Repayment (IBR) is an option. It gives borrowers a way to make loan payments. IBR provides for reasonable student loan payments based on a person"s income. Payments can be as low as $0. After 25 years on the program, any remaining debt is forgiven. People with loans in default cannot be in the program. However, people can get their loans out of default by making a number of "reasonable" payments. Once the loan is out of default, offset of benefits should stop.

That’s good, but remember that it doesn’t do a lot to your credit score if you settle or pay it off AND they won’t remove it from your credit report. It still shows up on your credit report, AND it resets the statute of limitations of suing AND reporting, so your score is going to take a hit for the first few months. The only way this will benefit you is if they completely delete the entry from your report. A lot of legit collectors are doing that because the consumer has smartened up to how paying a collection doesn’t benefit them, especially if the SOL expires. The only way legit collectors are getting their money is to agree to delete the item from the credit report.

Great video. I love watching your UA-cam videos. I just want to make one small correction. I am an accountant for a financial institution that issues credit cards. Once a loan becomes 90 days past due all income accruals stop and any previously accrued income will have been reversed back to the last date of payment. I am pretty sure this is a universal standard that conforms with GAAP. Therefore, nobody is paying taxes on stale accounts even if they have not yet been charged off.
Love your videos and you are awesome with presentation.

Same. The new collection agency is vicious. I got served with papers during the pandemic and I answered in court within the 15 days. We go to court in September. They have since sent papers demanding that I admit that I owe the debt. When initially contacted, I offered to make payments, but they refused.

Collection laws vary by state. Some states have more consumer friendly laws than others. So, what he is saying about what the collectors can or can not do may or may not be true in your state. Which is why it may be worth paying a lawyer for consultation if it is a concern.

I’m really enjoying your informative videos. Thank you. Question... can I safely ignore or assume I’m passed the SOL if I’ve been getting letters from a collector that’s originally from an old cc of mine where I don’t see the account on my credit report at all? It’s pretty old but I don’t know exactly when originally, I just remember having a dispute with the cc on the amount and then life happened and I just let it go. I would never do that now but that’s what I did here. At this point though, even though it’s not a ton of money, under 1k, I. Hesitant to pay it mainly because it’s not on my credit anyway and what if I did pay or settle and THEN they put it ON my report? I’d rather leave things alone in that case. Every few months they send a letter with a settlement offer, always with an expiration date, but they always send another down the road. What to do, any insight?

They never said what the complaint was for or what their company name is. I don’t have any collection debt on my credit report. It was crazy because they called someone that I know who had just got a new phone number less than a week prior to them calling my friend. I didn’t even have my friends new number yet.

You can nail them . FPDCA which is a federal law . You have rights . Don’t let them push you around & threatening you . The first thing to do is to document it & keep track . Dates & times & with whom you spoke with . Check the laws in your state. On collections . That lady had no right to threaten you . You should have reported her. I’m the type that doesn’t take any crap from nobody. You have rights I’d would have laughed at that moron

They never replied at all with our application. Hey man quick question. I was in a pretty bad situation about a year ago and had broke my lease to my apartment and had to pay the remainder of the lease. I didn’t ever contact them to pay them. It’s been over a year now and the account just came into my credit report as collections. It’s $5000. I’ve been working hard to get my credit score up and this is really affecting it. What do you think my best bet would be? Should I negotiate and set up payments plans with them if they agree to remove it from my credit report? Or would they even let me do that or would they want the payment in full? I just don’t want to pay that amount of money for it not to matter when it comes to my score. Thanks
