I agree with you, if they gave us to play as Mr.Silence just to give us a feel like we are playing as ourselfs - they did it very poor,more feeling like you playing as "floating hands with a gun". We playing as a squad leader, but all we do is doing what members will tell (speechless left hand waving doesn't count as "leader") At least they could give main character a chance to talk sometimes like we experience in Black Ops I-II. I just felt selfish deciding who'll die.
The reason why you have to sacrifice someone and the monologue during the credits is to honor kjell one of the game creators that died during development. Hence why theme for kjell plays, they want to give honor to his sacrifice and have the player feel the same emotion that the team felt when he passed.
Why there is no "Sacrifise yourself option"? Like you going to give c4 to Irish, but then quickly taking the detonator and falling in slo-mo, remembering what you have been thought.
