- Video of the Mahindra 1626 backhoe working a pine stump during a warmer February weather streak. The is the last of 30 total trees I removed using the backhoe, took roughly 45 minutes to finish this one off.
Just added this backhoe to my 1626. I'm actually impressed. It's much better than I expected.
It is an extremely impressive rig. All of the pines you see in the background are now gone. Stumps and everything. All done with this setup.
I found your channel while searching for Mahindra 1626 vids because I am buying one. My question that I have for you is where did you get the thumb for the backhoe and is it hydraulic or mechanical?
Dannyixoye I bought it when I purchased the tractor, it is a mahindra mechanical thumb. I worked it into the the final price of the tractor, in addition to everything for 50 hour service. As far as I know, Mahindra does not sell a hydraulic thumb for the 1626. Would have to be a homemade job, but frankly I don’t think there is enough hydraulic pressure for it to be worth it. Mechanical thumb does just fine picking up rocks and logs no problem.
I would like to find a ripper for the same tractor.
Digging out tree stumps takes a bit of patience. It’s good you work the roots and take your time because I’ve seen ppl just keep trying with the backhoe to rip it out and actually bend the hydraulic piston doing so. It’s def better to work around the roots and loosen all the roots and soil first. Nice job. That’s the same thumb I have on my 1533 and the dealer told me it was an $800 add on. Sound right?

Quick question at what rpms do you run your tractor while using your backhoe? Thanks
Generally around 1800-2000 RPM. I have found that to be the sweet spot for my preferences.
More rpms more hydraulic power.
Hi great video I'm amazed at the power this machine has ..what is the max depth the backhoe can reach ?
BAMF_Ben_Allen thanks for watching! It has been a beast for me. Just hit 300 hours after little more than a year of having it. Digging depth on the bh is roughly 7’. I’ve never had to dig that deep, but got to about 6’ on one project no problem.

I have another question for ya....how wide is the bucket you are using? Is it the 16 in. that Mahindra sells?
Correct, 16” bucket. My dealer sells that standard, unless you specifically want smaller.
@@ridgebackfarm1833 I purchased a 1626 the end of June. My dealer said that Mahindra only sells the 12 with the backhoe but I could buy a bigger one. I thought that odd sense on the Mahindra site you can choose a 12 or 16 when buying on their build one page. In fact the backhoe with the 16" was actually a few bucks cheaper which I told the dealer about this. They looked like deer needing glasses. But I ordered one anyway and because of the Covid, they told me it would take a few weeks to get it in though they had the tractor on their lot with the front loader. So I got it along with some implements because I had other things to do and it would be ok to wait for the backhoe. After a bit over a month I called Mahindra and asked them to discount my first payment since I have not received the backhoe. The lady I talked to was surprised and said she was going to call them. Before I could say wait that is not why I am calling, she put me on hold and came back telling me that I should be getting my backhoe soon. So hmmm. About 10 minutes later I get a call from the sales lady that sold me the 1626 and she was upset that I called Mahindra and reminded me that they would call when it was in. I told her that my call was to get a discount on my payment and that alone. I was really annoyed with this lady. Then she proceeded to tell me that the backhoe just got in and when did I want to bring the tractor in to have it installed. Well, I set the time up and they had it ready in a couple days. But here is the kicker. After I got it back to the house, I noticed a UPS sticker on the bottom of the outrigger foot. So I decided to check the UPS web site with this number and low and behold, that backhoe was delivered the first week of July and so it sat there for nearly a month and they did not bother to call me. Kinda pissed me off, if you know what I mean. Anyways....after about a week or so, I realized I could actually use a thumb for the backhoe. I was hoping I could buy it direct from Mahindra because they listed it at $502, which I thought was high. But I had to go through the dealer. So I stopped by and the sales lady told me that it would be $702. I told her that the Mahindra site lists it at $502 and she said well we have to install it and I told her, " I think I have enough knowledge of installing a simple thumb and she didn't like that. So I called another dealer about an hour away and asked them if they by chance had one in stock. The guy was shocked that I called because they did have one that a customer had changed his mind after they ordered it. The guy said if I wanted it, he would sell it to me at his cost of $365. Yep, $365...so I went and got it and it took me about 40 minutes to install it by myself. It took me that long only because it was cumbersome to hold while putting the new pins in. Anyway that's my story. So far the 1626 is doing a fair job on what I wanted it for. My next purchase for it is to get a grapple from Westendorf which manufactures them without the use of an additional hydraulic line on the front of the tractor. You might want to look them up. They call this unit they build a Brush Crusher. It is kinda expensive, $1700 but it is a whole lot cheaper than getting another line and the purchase of a hydraulic grapple. You can find it online using a search engine. Just type in Westendorf brush crusher....anyway thanks for getting back to me...
Dannyixoye that is crazy, unfortunately sounds like the original dealer is not the most competent. 365$ is a good deal for sure, I have found it very useful myself. I do know that parts are very scarce for all manufacturers with the pandemic. It is getting better, but it is slow going. It sounds like the second dealer is off to a better start. If the backhoe was in well before you actually got it, I would go through dealer for reparations. Unfortunately, Mahindra can’t control the dealer not calling you. I have seen poor dealers get dropped, sounds like this one may not last.

do you think the backhoe has beat that tractor up much?
Nope, I’ve had no issues with the frame, subframe, pistons etc. everything still works like it should. I did go around and loctite/ retorque all the bolts and I think that has helped keep everything square and secure. That’s one of the areas I could see the backhoe causing a problem because it is so powerful. Loose bolts will result in broken frames and other issues.
