Such a gorgeous book - each shed is unique and inspiring, and I love all the tiny details Kotite features to help readers imagine how to create their own She Sheds ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxe9yi0sulKgsp0VJJCIrLWWkvVqcU7LFR . The feature on Dinah's Rustic Retreat is like something from a fairy tale. It's really inspiring to see how creative all these ordinary people are in making beautiful and useful spaces on a modest scale.

One of your best showcases to date! I love this barn and want to build a similar one.
I have a 30 foot tall 20'x40' gambrel roof barn as the garage of our small-town house. It needs a lot of work, but this video contains a lot of building techniques & considerations that will apply directly to my barn.
I have been eyeing the 1-ton pushbeam trolley at HFT for when I build insulated doors. Thankfully, your builder described exactly what I will need to do to build them!

Back in the day there was a show called "This Old House". They cut no corners and could/would turn a 1200 square foot home into a million dollar home due to materials and quality of workmanship.
If we all had deep pockets or not smart enough to know how to keep utility bills managable, we'd sign life long contracts or buy solar systems for monthly payments higher than our current bill.

Wow , Matt- just a few weeks ago you were in Highland Park looking at a big deal house build- the rock that builder had to deal with is the near surface Austin Chalk which runs all the way from Austin to the Red River, and eastward almost to Houston. A little deeper it starts graying and then to blue- and you take it out with dynamite. The lower two (of three) basements under the Dallas Galleria were cut from the blue rock. The surface white rock can be opened with a back hoe and rock bucket, but most operators charge a higher rate per day because it is very tough on machines. You can get more info from the Texas A&M geology dept.FR

There's a lot to like in that barn. I think tall-walled barns need fairly long eaves to shade the walls and direct rainwater away from foundations. I'd also expect them to have more grade to slope away from the barn. However, I'm used to deep soils that get mushy, and that site might not have that concern.
