Recuerdo cuando en el funeral de Mandela uno de los oradores fue Raúl Castro y muchos de los comentaristas de la TV y la radio en México no tenían ni la más remota idea de porqué Raúl Castro había tenido ese papel tan importante en ese acto. Una comentarista de radio llamó a un dizque internacionalista del ITAM para que le explicara el porqué de aquello, el tipo no supo o no quiso explicar, yo lo cuestioné en twitter, le dije que Cuba era importante para los africanos porque los había ayudado a terminar con el colonialismo europeo, me dio la razón y ahí entendí que omitió hablar de la gesta cubana en africa de manera deliberada, una pena. Desviando recursos y tiempo en ayudar a extranjeros, mientras nosotros en Cuba padeciamos de un sin fin de problemas que ni Fidel, ni su familia, ni sus camaradas sufrian, ni sufren pues han vivido y viven con todas sus necesidades resueltas. Es inmoral ayudar a otros, cuando tu propia gente sufre de problemas tan basicos como el suministro de agua potable, el mal servicio de transporte, los grandes problemas con la vivienda en Cuba, la lucha por resolver la alimentacion diaria, los miserables salarios que les pagan a los pobres trabajadores cubanos, el costo de la vida en Cuba, deterioro en los servicios de salud publica, etc... De ninguna de esas cosas Fidel y su gente sufrian, ni sufren y asi mismo no han sido capaces de darle solucion a esos problemas que si padecen los cubanos de pueblo y acaban de cumplir 58 anos en el poder y sin permitir elecciones como se realizan en la mayoria de naciones del mundo, ni tampoco permiten ningun otro partido politico, que no sea el partido comunista de la dictadura.

The cuban people were suffering because of so many problems in Cuba and limitations, that Fidel, his family and his buddies were not suffering. Fidel was a big user. The problems of the cuban people should had been his priority, way before he sent so many cubans to fight in other parts of the world. I remember when Mandela's funeral Raul Castro was one of the speakers and many commentators TV and radio in Mexico did not have the foggiest idea why Raul Castro had such an important role in that act. A radio commentator called a supposedly internationalist from the ITAM for him to explain the reason for that, the man did not know or refused to explain, later I approached to him on twitter, I said to him that Cuba was important for Africans because they helped to end with European colonialism, he told me that I was right, then I understood that he omitted to mention the Cuban feat in africa deliberately, a real shame. There is a large part of our common history as Latin Americans which unfortunately we don't know. I recommend watching the documentary "Cuba, an African Odyssey" can see it completely on Vimeo.

Although I disapprove of Cuba's totalitarian political system, I must acknowledge their commitment to equality and freedom in Southern Africa. Angola, Namibia and South Africa are free today thanks in no small way to Cuban help. All credit to them.

Cubans went to other countries to help in their way to freedom, while USA goes to other countries to bomb and kill civilians. Inside the USA their policies are totalitarian and against the human rights since their cops are allowed to kill civilians and that happens every day. I have lived in Cuba and in the USA and I felt safe every single day in the island, but not in the USA, where I felt threatened by gangs and cops just for being mexican.

It's an anti-propaganda, not-for-profit film dedicated to raising public consciousness by opening up a space for discussion and building a sound information base drawn from archival records. This documentary represents my views, and my views alone, on geopolitical challenges to both Africa and the wider world. It addresses Africa's leaders, all PanAfricanists, internationalist and especially the African Youth caught up in the maelstrom of Africa's place in the world. It takes stock of security policies on the continent, paying special attention to the influence of American neoconservatives and how regional power blocs are already putting some of their policies into practice. AFRICOM GO HOME exposes the machinations of both imperialism and neo-colonialism and shows how they operate to coopt our elites and military leaders as well as civil society organizations. It paints a picture of the damage to which Africans are exposed when these bases take up residence in their midst. Clearly, our local elites are no less responsible than their foreign bosses for has evolved. The film urges all parties to review of those bases already cached on the African continent or encircling it as well as NATO's position, the vulnerability and tutelage of the African Union and the presence of a ravenous pack of emerging nations under the rubric of BRIC. By way of explanation, this video mounts a hypothesis that takes note of the repatriation of Germany's gold which had long been held captive by the US, France and the UK; the now dominant position of China in the global monetary system as well as the reasons why the base was launched so precipitously in Germany. It then goes on to provide reasons for the crisis unfolding in Mali. This film unveils the AFRICOM base in Germany before the eyes of the world. I remember when Mandela's funeral Raul Castro was one of the speakers and many commentators TV and radio in Mexico did not have the foggiest idea why Raul Castro had such an important role in that act. A radio commentator called a supposedly internationalist from the ITAM for him to explain the reason for that, the man did not know or refused to explain, later I approached to him on twitter, I said to him that Cuba was important for Africans because they helped to end with European colonialism, he told me that I was right, then I understood that he omitted to mention the Cuban feat in africa deliberately, a real shame. There is a large part of our common history as Latin Americans which unfortunately we don't know. I recommend watching the documentary "Cuba, an African Odyssey" can see it completely on Vimeo.

Although I disapprove of Cuba's totalitarian political system, I must acknowledge their commitment to equality and freedom in Southern Africa. Angola, Namibia and South Africa are free today thanks in no small way to Cuban help. All credit to them.

The only totalitarian system which you should mention is the USA. Cubans went to other countries to help in their way to freedom, while USA goes to other countries to bomb and kill civilians. Inside the USA their policies are totalitarian and against the human rights since their cops are allowed to kill civilians and that happens every day. I have lived in Cuba and in the USA and I felt safe every single day in the island, but not in the USA, where I felt threatened by gangs and cops just for being mexican.

AFRICOM GO HOME : No Foreign Bases in Africa is shot within the context of the fiftieth anniversary of the "Independence" of African states (OAS 1963-2013). It's an anti-propaganda, not-for-profit film dedicated to raising public consciousness by opening up a space for discussion and building a sound information base drawn from archival records.
This documentary represents my views, and my views alone, on geopolitical challenges to both Africa and the wider world. The contents of this film can in no way be ascribed to GRILA or any of its members. It addresses Africa's leaders, all PanAfricanists, internationalist and especially the African Youth caught up in the maelstrom of Africa's place in the world.
AFRICOM GO HOME illuminates a vision of freedom that comes down from the mothers and fathers of panAfricanism.
This documentary takes a personal look at how events have evolved in the wake of the signing of the declaration "AFRICOM Go Home" by fifty or so organizations from Africa and Germany that are united in their opposition to the presence of AFRICOM on either African or German soil. The film is a combination of images filmed or taken off the WEB . However, the authors of those images are in no way responsible for the production or point of view of this film.
This video helps us to understand events arising out of the "AFRICOM Go Home" Declaration and what has been achieved since then.
It shines a spotlight on the history and evolution of imperialistic, neocolonial military forces within Africa over the last fifty years.
It unpacks AFRICOM and how it came into existence, what it means and provides a way of interpreting imperialist rivalries and ambitions on the continent, including why they spy on each other and exposing the contradictions that have surfaced in the "fight against terrorism".
It articulates disbelief in claims of humanitarian goals by those who established AFRICOM for Africa after building a whole network of bases stretching as far as Germany.
It explores contradictions that also arise between Africans and within African organizations as they try to defend themselves within a context of conflicts tied to the pillage of their resources and the appropriation of their ancestral lands.
It examines the urgent need for panAfrican and internationalist resistance as well as the re-politicization of our Youth for future democracy.
The film follows President Obama when he visits Germany and Africa, highlighting the attitudes of various European, American and African presidents as well as AFRICOM's military chiefs. There is also footage on some of the men and women who make up the opposition.
It takes stock of security policies on the continent, paying special attention to the influence of American neoconservatives and how regional power blocs are already putting some of their policies into practice.
AFRICOM GO HOME exposes the machinations of both imperialism and neo-colonialism and shows how they operate to coopt our elites and military leaders as well as civil society organizations. It paints a picture of the damage to which Africans are exposed when these bases take up residence in their midst.
Clearly, our local elites are no less responsible than their foreign bosses for has evolved.
The film urges all parties to review of those bases already cached on the African continent or encircling it as well as NATO's position, the vulnerability and tutelage of the African Union and the presence of a ravenous pack of emerging nations under the rubric of BRIC.
By way of explanation, this video mounts a hypothesis that takes note of the repatriation of Germany's gold which had long been held captive by the US, France and the UK; the now dominant position of China in the global monetary system as well as the reasons why the base was launched so precipitously in Germany. It then goes on to provide reasons for the crisis unfolding in Mali.
This film unveils the AFRICOM base in Germany before the eyes of the world. In doing so, it also draws special attention to the heroic efforts of members of the public and parliamentary representatives belonging to the Linke Party and acknowledges their court action against AFRICOM's drone strikes and targeted killings.

A mí me consta cómo los angoleños y namibienses de hoy recuerdan y aman a esos cubanos que sacrificaron todo por un problema aparentemente ajeno.
Pero la injusticia en cualquier parte del mundo no le es ajena a nadie que profese el amor a la humanidad.

Hacen unos años conoci a alguien de Angola y me dijo que pensaba que Cuba era un pais rico, fijate. Esa era la impresion que dejaban los envios de hombres y recursos desde Cuba, tambien gracias al apoyo de la Union Sovietica, el principal aliado de Cuba durante la etapa de la guerra fria.
Fidel era muy vivo y ahora los que teniamos menos años antes. Pues comprendemos mejor las cosas de la mentalidad y accionar de Fidel Castro.
