I met Tom Rothman as a 13 year old kid in 1989. He was signing autographs at The Sports Fan in San Jose, California. Heck of a nice guy and a great football player.
When you explain to people who don't have a clue as to how awesome the 89 49ers were, all you have to do is say: Craig, Rathman, Jones, Taylor, Rice and the triggerman Joe Montana. When your RB and FB can catch passes on par with the TE and WR's, all the while still running over people, that's something special right there. Ask John Elway and the Broncos about that.
Outscored their 3 postseason opponents by a total of 100 points. Just insane. Denver allowed the fewest points in the NFL that season. In the SB they allowed 2 touchdowns...each quarter.
Dolphin fan since 85 ,but who cares Tom Rathman my favorite player of all time. Your the best Tom. Hope your reading this. You are not forgotten. When Football was hard nosed. Now NFL is barely half as good. Loved him in College as well. What a crusher!! Legend!
BEAST! Wrathman is one of our greatest ambassadors there ever was! Awesome player! Awesome coach! Just a fantastic 49er! H played the game! That's all you need to know!
I use 2 love watching the 49ers in Prime Time games. Because when Rathman had it going, that meant they were clicking on all cylinders..and 9 times outta 10 that meant bonus coverage from around the League- because it was a blow out. 49ers Win

One of my favorite 49ers…… Great player!!
One of the 49er greats!
Rathman and Craig... unstoppable backfield.
Rathman, Craig, and Montana is the greatest backfield in NFL history
@@joedimaggio6261 I would have liked to see young in the backfield occasionally. Run or pass.
Legend💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

Tom from Nebraska I would like to thank you for “ bar none “ performance #44 San Francisco 49ers Red and Gold Team 💯
Arguably my favorite all-time 49er.
My go to fb in Tecmo Bowl days💪🏽
Will be in the HOF!
Excited to have him coaching our running backs in Indy. Loved watching him play. He was one of the toughest guys out there.
The way he put the "Riddell"/front tag right on the chin strap of the free blitzer must've felt like being upper cut by Tyson.
Savage, the man is a savage.

I'll take the Craig-Rathman backfield over anybody in the hall of fame
Belongs in the Pro football Hall of Fame along with Roger Craig, Brett Jones, Late Freddie Solomon, and Late Dwight Clark.
I agree
Rathman was a beast! Could do it all, but putting people on their asses was his specialty. Best fullback I've ever watched, hands down.
What a weapon Tom was. Great backfield threat! One of my favourite players! But we had so many treats back in the 80s.......
simply awesome.
best FB of all time
Or tony Richardson from Auburn

1:15 Man, I didn't recognize Carlton Williamson. I'm usually good with Niner faces in the 80s. You seldom see him on any video/clip anywhere or on TV.
never liked 49ers but always idolized Rathman....even in his Husker days. prototype cornfed punch you right in the face fullback.
my #2 favorite of all Niners. Lott#1 Patrick willis#3
No Bubba Paris? ; )
I'm sure the fellas called him woody from their prison days
legend
Is Tom Rathman not in the hall of fame!! I would have just assumed he was.
Better look out once Rathman lowers that shoulder!
Week 1 is Tom Rathman 49ers Hall of Fame Day at Levis Stadium. See you there.
