  • Conditions 1/25/2025: Early season powder (10-18" in woods, low tide on some trails and scraped bare in spots), first day of the year with the lower mountain open. Taking a tour of the upper & lower mountain. Lightly edited to speed up traverses and lift rides.

Gnarliest ski resort south of New York for sure and steepest too. It's a really special place when they get the lower mountain open. Nothing nearby can compare.

@ I learned how to ski at BK, currently live in vail, there’s nothing like extrovert out here

@ it seems like Look Ma when left in natural conditions would have a similar vibe or even slightly steeper, except for the diagonal cross cuts of the Route 66 and High Hopes trail which makes Extrovert a little crazy. Also I feel like conditions are probably sketchier at BK 99% of the time. Prisma Cornice of course is a different sort of trail. But I grew up skiing Alta and agree with your general sentiment on Vail and steeps. They don't have many worth noting, but then again I also feel like some of their groomers are way too steep for comfort when I'd rather be skiing the same terrain off piste.

@ the fact that I'm comparing anything out west with a PA mountain at all though kind of proves what we were both saying though. Nothing in the region compares.
