This was an epic trip, thank you Ben and Jeff for being great riding buddies, and sorry I missed section 9 (I should have kept riding even with a blown shock). Did I mention I love camping? (thanks to MotoCampNerd, I've got much improved gear on the way)
I was really feeling like the 800DE would be my next bike. Trying to assess reliability is so completely frustrating. Now, I’m postponing any purchase until the f450gs is released. 🤷
Excellent video series. Love the great views and the roads. Love the struggles and perseverance. Can't wait to find the time to go ride some of it myself.
Congratularions DorkintheRoad and ADVAgenda for riding an entire BDR! Between the the time commitment required to the fatigue of all those gravel roads on a heavy ADV bike it's not easy to just go out and complete one of these. It's on my list to do sometime!
It's inspiring to watch three intrepid adventurers, on three dissimilar machines, take on such a challenge. Congratulations to you three from a dedicated subscriber who vicariously rides with you!! And maybe someday a BDR!
Hilarious that the KTM was the reliable bike of the bunch. :D Those water crossings on Section 9 were deep when I went through. Otherwise I totally agree that section 6 is the most technical.
A great video my friend! I wanted to take my Himalayan out there and do this BDR for a while now. Probably going to schedule it for next year. Glad to see what it looks like. I was out in Oregon earlier this year. I was going to stop in and see if you were around but the wildfires are so bad. When I was in Crater Lake I had to run. What a shame next time.
I hate the intro because it's so nostalgic that I always sit through it😆. Ben! it's the only channel I don't skip through the intro🤘. Hey that looked like a proper ADV ride where unexpected stuff happens. Thanks for showing the good with the not so good. If you do the Big BENd BDR keep us posted. It would be awesome to meet you out there.
Ben, I feel so envious of the roads and trails you guys have access to. Here in UK we are very limited to the long BDR type rides you have. So watching you guys ride and tough it out camping and bonding is a great watch. Great job!
thankyou to you all . great trip , it sure beats working . cheers to Ian for sticking it out as long as he could . happy days great ride cheers Steve/Australia
Dork, hooked for life. Truly enjoyed the great content of all the videos. Looking forward to so much more. Be safe out there, and keep riding to your hearts content.
Dork, Congrats on finishing the NCal BDR! I was so excited when i saw your video when you bought the KTM 790 because, I have that same bike. I purchased it early this year and have 3500 miles on it without a single issue. I love it! So glad you had a great experience with it too! I have taken an off road training course but have not done any bike camping or BDR’s yet. Those are my goals for next year. I hear the Washington BDR is fairly difficult and that’s where I live so I’ll need to find some riding buddies! Anyway, great trip and great video!
Hey Ben, what an excellent ride you had with your buddies, I had seen the movie that the BDR had done, thank you for doing the regular route not that I’m gonna be out there anytime soon, but the amazing views, the typography and the great experience with friends whether it was a great camping experience or not being there for each other pulling up your bike glad you were able to finish the BDR great accomplishment thank you for this awesome series. I really enjoyed it. looking forward to the next video.😊
To stay off the blacktop I imagine you have to tie in gravel roads together that may be quite boring. That's the price for staying off the black top. But I get what you are saying and I appreciate the review. Riding motorcycles off road, exposed to the hot or cold or wet and having to stay focused because you are on 2 wheels can be surprisingly exhausting.
Good narrative and fun to watch. Your buddy that chickened out showed his true colour, am not his fan he sounds good but knows little. Cheers from sunny South Africa.
This was an awesome journey to watch! I'm glad you 2 made it! If you ever decide to come east and do the MABDR, I think I could handle it haha. Still pretty new to the whole adventure bike thing.
Thanks for the great series! Looking to choose my first BDR route. This might be it. I live in Washington but that one seems a bit more technical for my first one. Maybe Idaho?
Good that you waited until fall, no big forest fires. You can imagine how much less vistas, and more shaded road before the fires. It appeared that northern section much was "two track". Do you think that a Jeep Cherokee could travel most of the sections? Certainly slowly vs the dual sport. I need to watch the early sections. Whole week off road. What a blast.
We had a buddy do the route in a Toyota FJ cruiser. He did not do the expert sections but the rest he got through everything else, pretty much a stock FJ cruiser.
Hey there. Glad the three of you are going through. You mentioned something about Mitas and slow tyre leak - have you experienced issues like this with Mitas before? Curious as these will be my next tyres.
Let’s not overlook the reality of the tubeless tire. This was the first time he couldn’t completely plug the tire and was forced to occasionally add air. No problem. The other option is being stranded on the side of the road wrestling with the tire bead. Finally, getting the rim and wheel back on only to find you pinched the tube. 😂 If you ride two lane dirt roads a lot, it’s possible to get consecutive flat tires on multiple rides. The constant wrestling with tire bead is not enjoyable. I’ll take tubeless.. all. day. long.
We had a local farmer offering to help us unseat and seal the tire with his tire machine in his barn. Crazy how locals always just appear when you need help. Fortunately we didn't have to take advantage but that was cool of him.
I'd love to have you cover how much your stuff weighed. Lots of folks pay a lot of attention to the weight of the bike. But you (and your riding buddies) clearly have added lots of stuff, camping gear, tank bag, food, cigars, probably a flask or two. What does it weigh? And how much does all the added electronics (cameras, GPS, etc.) add?
Am I mistaken or is the much maligned and unreliable KTM the only bike fighting through relatively unscathed? Thanks for finishing the route. I honestly appreciate you including the s… with the adventure.
What's up with vstrom rear shocks. I think this is the 2nd or 3rd youtuber I've seen blow one. Great series Dork, good job as always. We head out next week on our DRZ adventure, part of the So Cal BDR and Nv BDR and then over to Zion, maybe to MOAB if the temps allow.
Loved watching this series. Why did no one seem like they were having any fun. Didn’t seem like much enthusiasm for this BDR. Is the California BDR really that bad?
A Ghost that "Lives" on the second floor... OK. I've never seen a Ghost that was still Alive, I've taken pictures of dead Ghosts, felt the presence of others, and had some try to communicate with me... Had a dog go mental at one of them. But I've never encountered a Ghost that "Lived" somewhere... I know it's possible,, but I'm not about to leave my body for another spirit to try to claim, just to see if I can do it! (was that bit going too far? I think it would be going too far... not a great Idea) Now what was this Fishing business... I want to see what you use and how you pack it. I don't trust the telescopic rods and don't want to try to take a 6 foot rod on the bike, but I do want to fish while I'm out this Christmas (summer here in NZ) Oh I read it wrong... it was Finishing, not fishing :(😒
The BDR channel has such a huge opportunity to make amazing content with multiple episode series and they just completely fall flat. Their editing is bad, music fillers are extremely annoying and spend more time talking and yapping about stuff no one cares about. It all feels really forced, so to have people that dont act like robots is where we get actual perspective on these trips.

It was an absolute blast to ride with you my man
It is best to stop at the level of suck that suits you. Sometimes, it's an unforseen variable. 🤷
Definitely a killer trip boys! I can't wait till the next one ✌️✌️
I was really feeling like the 800DE would be my next bike. Trying to assess reliability is so completely frustrating.

Love it! Suspension is for wussies ;) 😅
Definitely one of the best trips in my life!
Can't wait till the next one boys ✌️
Agreed! Thanks for sticking with me until the end!
The KTM delivered. Thanks for the series.
So glad you finished the route, Bravo Jeff for killing it on the Morini!!
Ian don't give up on camping
I'm super happy to have made it to the end. Ian just needs some better gear, I think ;) This trip didn't go super well for him.
Ian sleeping on concrete with no mattress - the definition of a rough night 🤣
@@alozborne All I could think was "why?". There were pine needles everywhere.

Well done Ben. Loved the series. 👍

Nicely done! It feels good to officially close out a BDR. Cheers 🎉🏍️
Hilarious that the KTM was the reliable bike of the bunch. :D Those water crossings on Section 9 were deep when I went through. Otherwise I totally agree that section 6 is the most technical.
Hysterical
Great job boys... Thanks Ben... Not easy riding and camping that many days... 👍
Really fun to watch over my lunch breaks. Good job..
I will never hear the "final countdown" song the same lol. Well done
@@MrShad73 It was great ad-lib!
Another great video and a great series! Love your positivity and approach to the BDRs, and all of your riding really. Thanks for the great content.

Thanks for a great trip Dork! NorCal now firmly on my list..
This ride looks like a lot of fun. I appreciate you guys filming everything. Planning to do this same ride with my buddies 👍
Congrats Ben for finishing what you started..Great job with the play list

Woo hoo!! What a great showing of the main route!! Which is your favorite BDR so far?
“The Final Lookout” - Dork. Now available on Spotify😂 17:39
Ben, you could fill in on Europe's reunion world tour! I want VIP when you guys come thru town.
Funny how Ian have degraded the T7 multiple times and now that would have been just the bike he needed to NOT have any of his problems...😂😂😂😂

Singing the ridiculous song lyrics are exactly what I do! And we're both named Ben. Ben's are awesome.
congrats Ben!, great videos
Nicely done!
Looks like another fun and brutal BDR. 🤘
Great BDR series!
Obsidian also kills white walkers , so that’s a plus!

Hey there. Glad the three of you are going through.

Alright, no affiliation at all, but try mushroom plugs for tubeless flats. Stop and Go is what I use and will never go back to the strips.
Love the videos! When are you going to do a big trip on the transalp??? Loved seeing the content you’ve done on it so far
Sold it, sadly.
Oh man I missed that! Congrats on another BDR!
Hey, your bike is dirty😃. Excellent overall NorCal BDR series👍
"It's the final lookout..." haha!

have a great trip!
Mitas tires are good enough for Chris Burch so they are good enough for me. I run them on my T7.
Those western BDRs make me dislike living in Ohio! Great series, Ben!
Loved watching this series. Why did no one seem like they were having any fun. Didn’t seem like much enthusiasm for this BDR. Is the California BDR really that bad?
Just long tiring days, my man. Also Ian was NOT having a good time. I don't think he got one good night's sleep the whole trip.
Looks like a good trip, congrats Ben! Q: would you dare to take the same route in your 4x4, is it doable?
A very nice trip you have ridden ! 😀😀👍👍👍👍👍👍 More people ( incl. myself ) should pull the finger out and do some decent traveling on bikes. 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Great job as usual, how did the bike performed ? Any troubles since you had it ? How many miles done ?
0 issues. 3500 miles on the bike now.
Will a adventure bike made for the road ride well off road or no?
How did the Moto Morini do? (Other than the tire issue)
ty Dork😂
A non event? Not much to say about this BDR. I miss a map situating it in California.
Wait, what? He plugged a tire with a tube in it? I'm guessing it was the slime that turned it into a slow leak and the plug did nothing.
No tube. Tubeless. We're dumb but we're not THAT dumb.
KTM 💪

BAck Country Discovery Route.
KTM NO ISSUE FOR THE WIN !!! 😂
Six days and 950 miles is a “win” for longevity? 🤣
@ i am surprised you did not mention KTM cams 😂
Yall ever go places and have group rides with the Humans that follow you? 😅
All the time. Dork campout that I mentioned in this video is a great example.

Dork stay away from Idaho BDR and New Mexico over 1000 miles.
