regarding avoiding birds, there's a guy with a channel I think he's in Iceland, who experimented due to coastal birds attacking his drone. he found that using reflective tape, the kind like you put on a bicycle that illuminates when automobile headlights hit it, he tried different colors on his drone, and he showed with red colored reflective tape, the flock of coastal birds completely ignored his drone, whereas previously the whole flock would attack. he tried other colors but the best one he found was red.
Matthew, Thank you so very much for all your help. Your videos have helped my wife and I in making the decisions on what drones to buy, and even more Thank you for all your help teaching us the about all the settings and showing us how to take better footage, I get where you’re coming from with your comment on how the pandemic affected you, it changed my wife and I lives in many ways some good many not so good, but we move forward, Thank you again best wishes to you and yours. You are truly an inspiration to all of us wanna be creators.
As a self employed photographer and designer, I get 100% where youre coming from with regards to the Pandemic, similar experience here. My big studio went due to the costs of running a space I couldnt use and I now work from a log cabin I built on my property and a converted brick shed as my editing suite. I discovered your channel because I wanted to learn about drones and wanted to expand my photography and videography using them. Your channel is an invaluable resource, thanks for the work you put in!
I wouldn't know where to start if I had to be specific on what your channel has taught me. Not only the knowledge but I am sure it has possibly even saved me money from making mistakes. I don't fly as often as my location is very close to LHR but when I do I often revisit your videos for a refresher. While you thank your subscribers we must also thank you because you have an ability to get the facts across in an easily understandable way. Its also plain for all to see the effort and structure you apply to your content without going off at a tangent like many others. Recently a friend purchased a DJI drone and he was overwhelmed by all the settings and what the drone could do. He asked me for help and the best advice I could give was to join your channel watch and re-watch. He spent a week watching your content and absorbing all the info he could, his first flight some 7 days after purchase was a massive success which he solely attributes to your channel. You have managed to strike a real balance and you really do deserve continued success. Thanks Mathew heres to 2025 a more great videos. Happy Christmas
Love your way of explaining things. I bought my mini2 (lost it off the roof of my car one day lol) then got the mini3 Pro and I love it. I've learned tons from your videos, even when they're on drone models that I don't have. Keep up the great work, mate!!
Thanks so much for the video! I’m glad my views are helping you. I find them very valuable in my journey into the drone world. I am still a newbie, but I feel more confident using your hints snd tricks
Hi I'm from the Philippines. And i love watching your videos. Im a new drone pilot and I've learned so much from this page. Your videos is so informative specially to new pilots like me.
I've found a semi workaround for the low quality IG upload issue. If you are NOT a big account that gets the added bandwidth. Try to add more midtone contrast and add a bit of sharpening in post production. Yes, it may not look as you want it to in the final rendered full quality video, it may look sharper and noisier than you want, but this pushes the compression algorithm a bit more to retain details since 2 pixels are further apart in color / luminosity than without the sharperning. It WILL look nice once IG has processed the video. Basically sharpen the video for how it will look AFTER IG as "softened" it back down. Dont edit it for how your uncompressed source file will look like. Ignore how that looks. Export a file specifically for IG with exaggerated sharpening and contrast. You will notice the difference.
New Subscriber. Have flown the Mini 4k over 100 flights this year with and without a filter. Have found the nd4 filter works in all daytime flying. Great video.
my go to channel for the best information . I,m a beginner and fly a mini 2se and a neo and love them both .I live on the coast so really impressed with the seagull info👍 Thanks again brilliant no nonsense informative channel👌👌
no question... just a compliment for the way you make all these super interesting videos... I hope 2025 will be full of new information on your channel and I wish you a great 2025!
Lots of good tips. Flying when it's cold.... It often works well when the wind is low, or less. Else, place the car in a way the drone will be in front of it and You have eye contact. Fly from inside the car. It reduces the range a bit but selecting a good place, it can be used. Another experience.... Flying when the clouds were low and mist below them made the drone (Macic 3 pro) come back whet all over. Check the prognosis regarding humidity. If it's 100% or close, don't fly or make a short test flight and check, Stay well below the clouds.
Appreciate the time you put into your videos! Got into the hobby about a year ago with a mini 4 pro and your channel has been a go to for me as i learn cinematography and drone techniques. Just picked up a NEO a few weeks ago with the N3 goggles to dip my toes into FPV. So much fun. Thank you again for the great work!
I have flown while it was snowing, just don't stay up long since the motors are exposed. I have not had any issues with seagulls, eagles, crows, ravens but once was bothered by a Night Hawk at home, but flying at the lake I have had no issues, but I think I usually fly higher than the birds. I use a Mini 3 for over water and Mini 3 Pro for all else including shooting in thunderstorms.

Love your channel. Regarding your advice picking between the Air 3S and the Mavic 3 Classic there's one critical feature that gives the nod to the M3C. Variable aperture.
Nice video as always, good tips!. Two questions I've been asking myself for some time: 1: when putting a ND-filter on the drone, can the drone stay on (for not damaging the gimbal motors?) 2: after some firmwareupdates with sometimes huge change of settings, where can i find the manual with these updates incorporated? Thanks for your time and keep up these video's!
Hey, happy to help! 😊 1. Yes, you can, but just be sure to hold the gimbal firmly to avoid twisting it while attaching the ND filter. 2. The DJI forum is a great place to stay updated. They have a pinned post that details all the new features and changes with each update. Definitely worth checking out!
You'll need to show more caution here in Australia. Magpies and crows are more than capable of attacking the drone at the higher altitudes, and they are savage. They come in hot, and it can get difficult to avoid an accident.
Haha, yeah, those Aussie magpies and crows make it their personal business to harass mini drones. Wonder if the larger drones get similar attention? I’ve not tried the reflective tape suggestion yet.
I would love to see a DJI Mini 4K vs DJI Mini 3 (not the Pro, just the Mini 3). Basically, a comparison of the Mini 4K vs Mini 3. Also, if you could, please share the best settings for both to maximize camera and flight performance. Thank you! P.S. I thought your real job was a teacher or something like that because of how well you explain things, lol. Anyway, thank you for your hard work and happy holidays!
PRO TIP: If you put a set of "hot hands" (the little pads that get warm when exposed to air) in your gloves, on top of your hands it really makes a big difference. This allows you to wear rather thin and therefore more tactile gloves but still have warm hands even when standing in the praying mantis position for a 40min flight.
Nice and helpful video as always. If you'd like to improve value any further of future video, you could add some information about noise level of drones. This is becoming more and more important but hardly anyone talks about that. I know e.g. Mini 4K is noticeably louder / annoying than Mini 3 / 3 Pro and this new tiny DJI drone Neo is an annoying screamer. Are there some tricks, e.g. special propellers to reduce noise etc. ?
I believe you can turn off the active track using the new Icon on the left side of the screen without going into the menu's, I was using it to toggle the active track on and off to see if it improved now.
Hi Mathew, thanks again thankyou for another in formative video. I have learnt so much from you. I do have a question if you ever get time to make another questions video. I spent so much time making my last drone video of our local Christmas steam train, the drone flight filming was easy thanks to you. I spend hours editing, finding music and sfx uploading to YT only for it to struggle to make 120 views. I am unsure if my Title or thumbnail sucks so I have not got the views I was expecting. Be interesting on some feed back or idea's how to improve our click rate for our drone videos. Steve
Hey! Happy to help! I've had a few people asking for UA-cam advice, so I might create a separate video about it. For now, a quick tip for your channel: try simplifying your thumbnails. Too much text can be overwhelming. A bright, bold image works best, especially since most people see thumbnails on their phones when they’re tiny. I always shrink my thumbnails down to check if they still stand out at a smaller size before uploading them. Hope that helps! 😊
@@TheDroneCreative Thank you for your time in replying and the advice on the thumbnail, noted and understood, I will look forward to your advice video on YT.
@TheDroneCreative would be amazing if you did, I've just started a channel and would be amazing to get an idea how to make it grow/ how to make it more successful etc Thanx
I'm not rich and, thanks to your channel, finally stepping into drone piloting as a hobby. I plan to do in steps. I got a simple Neo coming in a few days to get foot in and see if it will be what I expect. Next will be to buy a controller (I'll determine whether RC-2 or those goggles would suit me best) After that.. the newest drones will be out and I can study on what I want/need to keep the hobby going. Do you think this is a good plan? PS: I mainly started with the Neo because I live on top of a hill in North Carolina mountains surrounded by trees. I feel the Neo can take more rookie errors.
There are normally two tracks for drones, getting cinematic footage or flying FPV for fun. The Mini 4K is a great cheap cinematic drone and up from that would be Mini 4 Pro and Air 3S. The Avata2 is a great FPV drone that comes with the goggles and motion controller that is very easy to fly and get started. The Neo is kind of a hybrid that gives you many options. It starts at a low price point, but you can spend a lot of money buying the extra controllers/goggles that come standard with the Mini 4 Pro or Avata2. I advise you decide which track you like better to make your investment. I would probably avoid the new cheaper (less featured) N3 goggles until you decide which track interests you most. I personally like both tracks so Mini 4 Pro and Avata2 are a good combo which I can both fly with same goggles 3.
@@riskybusiness5 Yea, the mini 4 pro is in my radar. It sounds like a 5 is coming soon, so I'll watch reviews and such while I break myself in with the Neo.

Just bought a mini 4 pro, first drone ever ! Used to have nitro rc monster trucks that used to do 60-80 MPH jump them 30 feet good times. I have noticed my drone needs a gimble calibration all the time, should i be concerned ?

That sounds interesting! I might have to give it a try myself. With the cost of some red reflective tape, it could be a smart precaution to take!
@@TheDroneCreative The other option is to not fly where there are high concentrations of birds. It's their home, after all.
@@chasingbirds3073 OP did recommend that in the video. But, better safe than sorry. Sometimes birds come out of nowhere to attack.
I was about to ask or state the same thing. I have started to do this to my Mini 4 Pro, but have only switched to red propellers from Master Airscrew.
I put reflective tape to my Mini 4 Pro and Air 3 and I seems to work ok
