HobbyZone AeroScout on Floats with LED Lighting and REMOTE!

- Back to the lake in the Georgia Summer so that mean late afternoon storms and those were not far behind. This LED lighting has been on this AeroScout for awhile now but I forgot the remote last time I tested these HobbyZone floats on them. No, there is no float kit for this plane. This plane has floats on it due to some "Davegeneering" including hot glue and first-aid paper tape. But, they hold up just fine after the areas of weakness that I discovered during the maiden lake flight a couple of months ago. I also brought out my custom modded E-flite Valliant on 1.5m Turbo Timber ruddered floats but that video has yet to be posted. Got the floats from Esky and put them on my Aero Scout and it flies WONDERFULLY on and off the water 😊😊👍👍

Super legit light mod. AeroScout is a cool looking model on its own but those lights and floats really kick it up a notch. Glad you avoided the tree line. Brian Phillips RC recommends throwing a rock in the water (to make waves) which helps get the plane off the water in those situations. Looking forward to the Valiant vid. I still haven’t flown my Valiant or AeroScout...lol. The AS is assembled and ready to go, just need some free time. Thanks for sharing!

Love the fpv! Just got done modifying my 2.1 meter Cessna to do the same with the insta 360. Definitely gonna use your great idea to cover the 360 mic. Did you just use scotch tape? Nice water landings and love the lights!
I think I used medical paper tape, I love that stuff!

Wow! that's a super shout out! cool ideas with the Scout, did not think you were going to get it off the water. Its not the most powerful flyer. My Scout is awaiting a new fuselage after a high speed encounter with the ground turned half of it into snowflakes.

Really enjoyed your video I have a AeroScout and I might install this feature. Are the lights and camera self powered or are you tapping in to the AeroScout power supply? As you might have realized I am new to this hobby. It sure looks like a lot of fun and challenges.
Ken, the lights are the LED sets that you can get at Walmart in the electronics section. They have them pictured being used behind a TV as ambient lighting. They can usually be found in the $4.88 bin. To power them, I use a Walmart small power bank that are also $5. I velcro it to the battery and cam have it hanging off the back of the battery over the servo arms to get to CG to balance out. You COULD tap power off the receiver but that requires cutting off the stock USB plug on the lights and soldering a servo lead in its place which is WAY above my pay grade so I go the easy route and just use a small power bank instead. I hope you can get this on your own birds, it DOES make them D-I-Y cool! Good luck sir and good flying to you! 😎👍🛩🇺🇲

Brian, as always, thanks for watching my video! I do love that AeroScout! I have put that bird through it all! The camera that is on top of the plane is the Insta360 GO
Its a 20gram 180 degree camera with 5 minute record time in FPV stabilization mode. As far as the camera that I have on my controller, that is actually just my phone which is a Galaxy S20. The camera that I have on my hat is the Akaso Brave 5. In videos like my most recent P-39 cockpit video, I am using the Insta360 OneX camera. Besides those, I use my RunCam2 the most.Thanks again! I think that the increasing sub counter has also allowed me to produce some much better videos lately! I think that the one that comes out tonight at midnight is one of my better ones! But lately. Actually man those lights are just the RGB LED lights that you can buy at Walmart for like 15 bucks or less and their self adhesive and they are also USB powered so I was just powering them with a small USB adapter power bank that I think it was like 800 milliamp hours and it was like 7 bucks so that the entire light kit and remote control and battery pack that I just velcroed on top of the battery inside the AeroScout was about $20 bucks or less.
