The Primavera is the right choice for those who really need the Vespa brand name. Just about everyone else will be happier with the Liberty. The larger wheels make for a better ride and the seating position (and the seat) is much more comfortable. Riding the Vespa, you can feel a little "perched". With the Liberty you feel more like you're sitting down in it.
Wheels…..honda sh300 or sh125 wheels which are way bigger than the Vespa makes the scooter not as nimble or fun as the Vespa (it surprised me) seriously im not biased towards one or the other, but ridden both back to back. For example, the sh300 is hard and fast, the Vespa a bit slower, but feels like floating on a cloud in comparison and it’s the best scooter I’ve ever ridden around bends on….that’s the Vespa 2008 300 gts compared to 2009 to the latest Honda sh300.
I'm a newbie to motor cycling (scooters) and am looking at purchasing my first scooter. I have narrowed it down to Primavera, Liberty and Kymco 8x150. I have watched a few of your reviews and just wanted to compliment you on your presentations ( clear and cogent) , you do a fantastic job. Keep it up.
I got the piaggio 150. Honestly, I wish I would have bought a Beverly instead. The piaggio is a bit slow for me. Even though I use it on the streets it is hard to keep up with traffic in large boulevards without a full throttle. Will not recommend using it in highways.
Love my liberty 150. For basically half the price, with bigger tires and far more functional, flat floor, there is no comparison for me. Take the couple extra grand you're saving and upgrade the headlight and get a top box and you're still ahead like 2 grand. I added a top box, windshield, side kickstand, and sportier mirrors and a quad lock, and still spent way less than a stock Vespa.
I still love the look of Vespa's, but you're right, this one has some features that the Vespa design doesn't allow. It's fun working with Jim Gilbert's PowerSports because you can see them side by side and really see which one you prefer.
I love the flat foot platform because I can stack 2 grocery bags between my feet. But the models split the floor with a raised feature makes stacking anything impossible.
It would depend on where you live. Check your provincial or state requirements. Sometimes all you need is a car license, sometimes a full motorcycle license, sometimes there are licenses for scooters or lower powered motorcycles. Lots of differences depending on where you are in the world.
Yeah, the type of helmet will make a difference when you're trying to fit it in to that storage area. Not every helmet is going to work perfectly. If you love the helmet, a rear box may be a good solution.
I am currently riding a 2012 Kymco like 50 - 49cc and soon will be loooking for a Newer Moped. I am thinking either a Piaggio Liberty S or a Lance Soho. What is the Best overall?
There is likely a difference in the specs, but if you can ride one, you can ride the other. Seat height matters less on a scooter than a motorcycle, because if the seat was too tall to place both feet firmly on the ground at a stop, you could step in front of the seat and straddle the bike that way.
Owned lots of Honda sh300 and 125s. Regarding handling and wheels, the handling and nimbleness of the small wheels on the Vespa 300 is way better than the larger wheels on the honda sh….by miles. The suspension on the Vespa is way better too.
They each have a slightly different seating position. Both will fit taller people, so it isn't a matter of more legroom or less legroom, it's a matter of which seating position you prefer. I like both, but I'd choose the Vespa for style. It's my personal favourite.
I'm not sure that I would say more comfy, but the larger diameter can allow them to be less affected by the bumps. I think it's most accurate to say that they do handle rough roads differently, and the larger wheels would likely offer some advantages with that.
Yeah, with size 14 shoes, you'll want to try it out. You could always angle your toes a little out, but you would have to decide if it worked for you or not. I don't know if you can clearly see my feet up close in the video, but I'm wearing size 11 shoes for reference.
People making comments about the larger wheels but neglect to consider that those larger wheels aren’t wide and that matters a lot. The Vespa is a better made scooter.
I really like them both, I think people overplay issues with the smaller wheels on the Vespa, and overplay the advantages of the larger wheels of the Piaggio.
My instinct is to the Piaggio with the bigger wheel, and more motorcycle style - guess the ride could be better on rougher roads. Also, as a 'larger' person, I'd take the higher power motor option
Yeah, the 50cc version is great for certain areas with different licensing restrictions on larger engined scooters or motorcycles, but the 150 is the one that I'd go for with all other things being equal. I just think you'll use it more if you can go a little faster with ease.
The gas tank is down low on the Vespa and higher up pn the Piaggio-does that make a ton of difference in handling-I know you want the weight down low-nothing worse than a high speed wobble.
Yeah, there is a price difference. I tend to not mention pricing in my videos because the videos stay online forever, but the pricing can change at anytime.
I have a Liberty, much lighter btw, both awsome scooter I think. I generally preffer retro (furniture and stuff) but here, I am all modern. Hope scooters catches on in North America
My wife wanted a Vespa. I asked her about other, cheaper scooters (like Piaggio Liberty or Medley), but she talked only about Vespa. Well, so I compared both of the scooters side by side and Vespa IS much better built scooter (full metal body instead of cheap looking plastic). But it also about two times more expensive. So, finally she picked her Vespa Primavera.

I like the style and the seating position of the Vespa, but you can't deny the value of the Liberty.
I'd also go with the larger wheels.

I disagree. The Vespa is more refined.
Try them both.

Thanks so much for your support! I really appreciate it!

@@delm1202 Yeah, the 150 is still going to be limited for certain types of roads. But it does open up a whole new world to the 50cc rider.
@@nizarkailani7225 The Vespa is priced higher because it's the more premium scooter. I think they're both excellent quality thought.
@Nizar Kailani You do realize that Piaggio owns and makes Vespa scooters correct?

Piaggio Liberty 150 with plastic body panels will cost much less to repair after accident than a Vespa with metal body dents and dings.
I love the flat foot platform because I can stack 2 grocery bags between my feet. But the models split the floor with a raised feature makes stacking anything impossible.
The Liberty should extend the foot floor bigger for errands.
Hi there. What sort of DL is required to drive these scooters in open public roads?
It would depend on where you live. Check your provincial or state requirements. Sometimes all you need is a car license, sometimes a full motorcycle license, sometimes there are licenses for scooters or lower powered motorcycles. Lots of differences depending on where you are in the world.
If you could, would you do a review on the Piaggio zip?
i got liberty for doing deliveries, more fun and smooth riding experience
Awesome! Thanks for sharing your experiences!
I just tested a Liberty. My 3/4 XL Daytona cruiser helmet will not fit under the seat.. I agree with the seating position being similar enough.
Yeah, the type of helmet will make a difference when you're trying to fit it in to that storage area. Not every helmet is going to work perfectly. If you love the helmet, a rear box may be a good solution.
Can you lock the storage area under the seats in either model?
Yes! If the seats are closed, they're locked. You need the key in the ignition to access the under seat storage in either model.
@@PeterLoweOne Thanks. I didn't know that. Makes a lot of sense to do it that way.
Still dreaming...
Even though the Piaggio offers much more for the money, GOD that Vespa is beautiful! ❤️
Hello Peter. My question is will either 150 have enough power to get me up a steep hill? I weigh 350 Lbs. Please do a hill test with both scooters
quit being obese
I am currently riding a 2012 Kymco like 50 - 49cc and soon will be loooking for a Newer Moped. I am thinking either a Piaggio Liberty S or a Lance Soho. What is the Best overall?
Is the seat height the same on both?
There is likely a difference in the specs, but if you can ride one, you can ride the other. Seat height matters less on a scooter than a motorcycle, because if the seat was too tall to place both feet firmly on the ground at a stop, you could step in front of the seat and straddle the bike that way.
hey peter, love your videos. would you mind to review and compare the Aprilia SR GT with the Medley or the Liberty? thanks, have a great day
Does the Liberty have an audible turn signal or is it just a visual reminder?
I'm 99% sure it's just visible. I haven't used it in a little while, but that's my memory of how it is.

184cm and the Liberty was to small for me. @@PeterLoweOne
I'm 6'2 and looking at getting a px 125 for my first bike/scooter. The question is will I be to big for it?
Your height shouldn't be an issue on these. I've seen tall people ride these in total comfort.
Liberty I like best little bit more room Vespa is nice thanks for great videos review 👍👏😊🇬🇧🇨🇦
Larger wheels are usually more comfy on rough roads

I live in Spain and on the cobblestone streets the larger wheels make a huge difference.
Many comments on leg space, but how about foot space. I wear a size 14. The Liberty looks as if it might be a bit tight in that regard.

Superb review - thankyou!
Thanks for this video.
Very informative video....thank you
Thanks for watching!
155 cc's. Weak rear drum and mono-shock on the Liberty. Big/wheel ride of the Liberty is much more stable feeling at speed!
I don't usually quote the exact CC's of things, but yes, you're correct. Thanks for watching and contributing.
But cornering grip is much higher on the Vespa as the tyres are a lot wider.
The gas tank is down low on the Vespa and higher up pn the Piaggio-does that make a ton of difference in handling-I know you want the weight down low-nothing worse than a high speed wobble.
These are both pretty stable for the speeds that they're going. The wheel size difference is probably more notable than the overall centre of gravity.
And there is a big price difference between the two ...
Yup. That's absolutely a factor for people to consider.
Vespa only has the aesthetics over the Liberty, Piaggio it's well aware about it, just branding positioning
Nice shoes 👌
They're comfortable!!
Did I miss the price difference? Because the Primavera with the metal frame is more expensive than the piaggio.
Yeah, there is a price difference. I tend to not mention pricing in my videos because the videos stay online forever, but the pricing can change at anytime.
I am only 184cm tall and the liberty is too small - i hit my knees with the handle bar. I dont know about the Vespa.
Hi, eventually
Hope you're well! Thanks for watching!
Btw, they are both Piaggio
True
I have a Liberty, much lighter btw, both awsome scooter I think. I generally preffer retro (furniture and stuff) but here, I am all modern. Hope scooters catches on in North America
Please bring a helmet to your videos and show it in situ. Thanks.
The liberty is a copy of the Honda SH 125. The Honda being the superior and most popular scooter in Italy.
Либерти делают с 1998 года ... - это лучший мопед с воздушным двигателем ...
The Liberty looks amazingly better than the Vespa and it's affordable too!
