    ZX -10R... R1, CBR1000RR.......
Bikes today are stupid powerful, insane handling and electronics.
But back in the 80s, these bikes started it all, and the power wars.
Glad I got to experience it first hand.

I had one in 1988, it was the fastest machine around. I loved it.

I'm freaking out here ,brings back all the memories of the launch of this baby,we'd all drool over it at the local bike shop.

That sound tried killing me everyday. What an awesome machine and I still have a soft spot for it.
I also want to add that it will do every bit of that 170 and then some(according to speedo)

Have a 90 w/ 64k on the clock, was worked at around 50k, weisco big bore 1039 kit, dynojet stage 3 carbs, k&n air/oil filters, couple teeth up in rear, one tooth down in the front, pulls hard set up like that, other stuff I'm forgetting. It's a beast, a quick 178 top speed with that set up😁🏍️💨💨💨. A very underrated badass bike of its day.

In the Italian magazine MOTOCICLISMO, of June 2021, I have just read an article that the zx-10 of 1988 ..... very interesting, with detailed photos of the era. In describing the performance, we speak of a fantastic engine, an aluminum frame (perhaps among the first GT to adopt it, but we also speak of a gearbox that, if stressed, goes into crisis, as does the clutch. I wanted an opinion from you, if possible. Thanks. Anyway, one of the most beautiful bikes ever produced.

More Powerful than my nearly new Kawasaki 750 turbo '84, heard the turbo was first production bike any size, to do the Standing quarter mile in 10 seconds, 161mph was the most I got, not topped out. I'm a Banditless Banditaholic, but Kawasakis awe, I'd have an R1.

I had a 89 zx10 back in 97 I was coming out of Tampa around 2am we where in a group 600cc fzr cbr a kz1000 GSXR11000 and we hit I4 we left the 600s and that damn kz 1000 was right with me for awhile and I remember thinking damn this zx10 is supposed to be faster than that kz 1000 I know where both 1000 kawasaki but and thats when it happened that zx 10 started pulling away like magic and I was closing in on mr GSXR1100 and this guy had his lady on the back lol they where both in race leathers. He had me locked out at about half a Simi length we where doing 170mph at least but damn that bike was fast just not GSXR 1100 fast but damn close

e-box frame... Twincam 16valve - they were the fastest production bike in it's day between 88' - 90' indeed... I'm waiting you riding it's successor, the ZZ-R1100 ( ZX11 ), then I wanna hear what you'd have to say ...

The zx 11 was a 1053cc I believe so really I like the look of the zx 10 and if you had the big bore kit on the zx 10 or hell maybe if it would fit just put a zx 11 motor in the zx 10 frame I just like the look of the zx10 a little better

Just say I started riding in 92 on a XS650 I started writing with a group of sport bike guys uptown my 10th grade year they all had new sport bikes back then early 90s some light 80s and I still love those sport bikes today these new sport bikes just not exactly have that old magic baby it's because I grew up around the old stuff but toward the end of my 10th grade year one of the guys had an 87 fzr1000 so my dad help me get it I tried to write it safe and not be stupid but 2 months later some idiot decide to do a left hand turn in front of me and I hit the side of his truck not by any fault of my own but that put me out of riding for the rest of my high school years and that's when I fell in love with Pontiac Trans Ams my first car was an 84 firebird and my second car was an 86 Trans Am I wrecked a few of those by being stupid and thinking I had something to prove and I finally realized while you were safe on the motorcycle why don't you be safe in the car stop trying to prove something you never did that when you were on the bike because you knew you'd end up dead but that was a lesson I had to learn the hard way so my dad was a veteran and he ended up going to the federal building over in St Pete a couple times and there was a security guard over there that had a 89 ZX10 I talked to him a little bit about his bike he had just got it so half a year went by and I went back over with my dad and I found out that that guy got in a wreck so I got his number called him up asking how he was doing ask him how the bike was doing he said it's a little bagged up some girl decided to look at me and move over on me and run me off the road he said I don't think I'm going to keep it though I think I'm going to sell it I told him well I'll buy it so I bought it fixed it up and that's how I got my ZX10 I had it for a little while but I always miss the maneuverability of my fzr 1000 so I sold the ZX10 to buy a 1990 fzr1000 I personally think the 89 and 90 fzr 1000 was the best looking I still have my Yamaha to this day but the I had some major mechanical issues years ago so it's been in pieces of my shed and I need to fix it and get it running again. I still think about my old ZX10 and wish I wouldn't have ever sold it I could have always got a fzr later in life but when you're young you got to have it now I think it would be nice to have a few classics because you sure don't see them anymore people treat sport bikes like garbage it's kind of sad. thanks for reading my life story LOL

If you think that's fast (I had one) you need to try a modern ZX10, it's that bike on steroids!

I had an 87 1000r and I loved that bike. It had a Vance and Hines Pipe, an ignition advancer and 6 teeth up on the rear sprocket. It ran 10.7s at 126 mph. It was a beast back in the day, but is WAY down on hp and really heavy compared to modern bikes. I’ve never ridden any liter class bikes newer than 1994 and the newest bike I ride was like a 2005 GSXr 600, and even that basically matched my 1000 in the quarter with me riding it.
