Don't cast more than three commanders in a game? Then just remember which Doctor you ended the game with. If you won, stick with that Doctor. If you lost, move on to the next Doctor in the next game :)
Alternatively, don't WAIT for something to happen. Instead plan on bouncing The Doctor yourself to cast the next one.

I don't have a rules breaking deck myself. Yet. But this did inspire me.

With the preview of an Ajani origin card in MH3 and your idea I have built a deck. Every time Ajani is cast we will see the next planeswalker version. My group loved it so much everyone is choosing a planeswalker and doing the same.
I love what Chronozoa does but I've always ended up cutting it from decks! It's great that you got to work it into a deck! Great video!
While ive watched this video on the couch my wife came home, heard you speaking and was like "Damn that dude has a sexy voice!".
I replied with something like "Yeah but sadly for you he's a guy of the guys and a dude of the dudes" which is what we sometimes say when we mean that someone is gay.
She then said "Sure he is, all the guys with sexy voices are either married to me or gay!" so I guess we both got a compliment from my wife yesterday. :D
And just for clarification the term "A guy of the guys and a dude of the dudes" is not said in a mocking or harming way. It was just what a friend of our said when he told us that hes gay.
It was something like this "Hey boys I got to tell you im a guy of the guys and a dude of the dudes if you know what I mean" and we were like "yeah no not really.....OHHHH!!!! Sure bro, we knew that all along. Love you"
My favorite rule zero deck i have is also a doctor who deck. i play mono white teachers using Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright. i stuck to 1 color to avoid angle shooting and i can technically play the deck with just Ian, but i love playing the first companions as a pair

My rule 0 deck is an H.P. Lovecraft theme deck that needs to “summon” the great old ones from the sideboard/wishboard with cards like Burning Wish and such. Also keeping my wincon combos partly in sideboard to make it harder to get to.
I'd love to have a look at your deck list. That sounds very much like something I'd enjoy.
@@Dataloss484 Fair warning; I have gone ahead and reflavored many of the cards to fit the aesthetic by making custom proxies. The main wincons are lab man + doomsday and lethal vapors + teferis protection.

You know, I have been watching you guys for years at this point... and just now realized I never subscribed. What heck... am now subscribbled. 😂
I did something outside the box with the ninth doctore and clara oswald also. I created a modular deck with it. Temur, Jeskai, and grixis. I just switch cards out and each deck wins a little different.
My goofy rule zero deck keeps getting stronger as they crank the power of clues, it’s 5-color clues Stranger Things themed. My commander is all the stranger things legends, every game I shuffle them up and deal myself two at random and those become my commanders for the game, kind of like how the show is an ensemble cast show focusing on character interactions and team-ups. If I get the mind Flayer first, he has to be my only commander, and if he’s second, he eats my partner and I have to play a one commander game with whoever I drew first. And I have several cards that turn all of my creatures or cards into artifacts, which I thematically refer to as “entering the upside down” like on the show, and it fits since if I do that it’s usually a danger zone for my opponents.
I love this. I recently made a deck where every single card is double sided, including all lands. It doesn’t need any rule 0 talk, but it is very bad and very fun for the table.
It's a WILD idea and I am so excited to see it in action. That said, I kinda envy your playgroups if you never cast your commander more than 3 or 4 times. lol
Honestly, I would have trouble PICKING a character! I already have a Liliana deck and an Urza deck, but without this mechanic (and likely would just keep them as such due to being built around their own restrictions. But either way, ALWAYS excited to see fun and silly ideas to build Commander decks differently, even just for the fun discussion and what ifs!
I’m good with most rule 0 decks for story themes: Saffi and Hans (contingent on Lhurgoyfs in deck), Edgar and Olivia’s wedding, Lutri as a commander, Tenth District Hero, etc. Only rule zero I won’t budge on is hybrid mana.
Super cool idea. How does it work with commander tax? Do you still add 2 to the casting cost each time you switch commander?
I watched your previous video on the topic just before this, and I couldn't help but think of my Rakdo Lord of riots deck that I've had for almost 10 years and how much I'd love to make a new version showing his progression, especially with his newest outing as the Patron of Chaos
As someone whose cheapest commander is 5 mana, I MUST subscribe to avoid mana screw (I'm fine with flodding mana, most of the time)

I've actually done this rule 0 myself. But it's actually all the Doctors. I start with the First Doctor, and move up the chain. In order to be able to cast the later Doctors, I have them rule 0ed as partners, but I have to cast them in order. I've been playing it for a few months now, but I've only gotten to play the 6th Doctor so far. One day I'll get all the way through.
The Rule 0 I'm planning is Esika, God of the Tree + Yorion, Sky Nomad (yes, 120 cards) + Sovereign's Realm (conspiracy) + 4 Hedron Alignment (main wincon), where all cards must be relevant in my Magic life, and all must be signed by friends or artists. Ghave (my first commander), Thalia (when I played Modern during the Eldrazi Winter), the cycle Eye / Heart / Horn / Skull / Tooth of Ramos (my first finished collection back in the day)... I have like 60 cards signed already.
Have the Clara back up Commander plan is a great idea. This is a brilliant idea! Love the idea of the Doctor evolving each time it's cast from the zone. Curious though, do you play each Doctor for the normal cost or are you adding the accumulative 2 generic mana each time it gets cast on top of the normal cost? I kinda wanna try this with my Bant WHO deck as well, but starting at the bottom with first through four or something like that.

In a similar vein, I've been wanting to work on an "Oops! All Talrands" list featuring every single individual printing of talrand alongside lots of copy effecrs (and a built-in "legend rule does not apply") and it basically functions as an archenemy deck - the goal of the other 3 players is to get to a point where talrand no longer exists in any zone other than grave, exile, or the command zone (or if all of them are in the command zone, each one has to be killed)
i put in the list of decks to made a five colors lukamina, but in terms of favorite way to bend rule zero is custom commander cards :D
I did a rule 0 partner with Yoshimaru and The Wandering Emperor. Keleth, Sunmane Familiar is in the 99 tho so I can always swap out if people don't like it

That deck looks pretty cool! Y love the idea of modify some tinny rules in Commander deck for the sake of theme or Lore.
In my case i have a Jesper Ejsing's art deck that has his 5 familiars on the command zone and it's a blast to play It on Game night, It justo makes you feel like you are doing something more than playing a regular Game off Commander.
Love Rule 0 decks! I think a lot more people should think outside the box and just have fun with the game ❤
I have a rule 0 Tamanoa deck and its an absolute blast! I've always loved the idea of Firesong and Sunspeaker, and now I get to do it as a Big Mana Burn/Punisher deck and gain a boatload of life!
Notably, I always reason with people that 3 of the 5 shards got legends back in Coldsnap with Garza Zol, Sek'Kuar, and Zur. Meanwhile, Bant got Diamond Faerie and Naya got Tamanoa, which realistically should've been legends too.
But even if that does satisfy people I just run Rocco and tutor for Tamanoa 😁
So I went undefeated at my pre release this weekend with a niv mizzet guiltpact deck. So I'm making a niv mizzet 'gather the guilds' deck currently starting with this rebirth. Do you have any suggestions I throw in there?

Just fyi, the little pause after the subscription plug actually made me subscribe. It made me be like "wait I watch all these damn videos why am I not subbed" so you already know this, but yeah the sub plug works.
I think the Master shouldve been at the helm. Befriending and using others as pawns is totaly his style.... Not the daleks.....
You could just as easily do a version of this deck with all the Masters in chronological order, though after Ainley, this would get *really* mana-intensive. (And you'd have to jump from Ainley to Simm, because we don't have cards for Roberts or Jacobi.)
tbh, I'd go along with almost any rule 0 deck except for Dr. Who cards.
well since they're all legal in the format why do you even care then?
my point is that it's a stretch to even play with them, adding a rule 0 stipulation on top of it just makes it absurd.
Yeaaaaah, I love not including 13 in this. She did not deserve a separate deck. Not when dalecks and master are cramped in one deck
