Hmmm, Two things I would recommend trying, not sure if it'll work as I haven't run into this issue before. 1. Eject the sim tray and press the tiny grey button inside the R1 where the sim tray normally is. 2. Redownload the fastboot and follow the steps to do that 3. Turn off the R1 and in device manager see if it comes up as R1 or Android device
IMPORTANT: AFTER SETTING UP ANDROID IMMEDIATELY DO THIS: 1. With the R1 connected. And you in your terminal 2. Enter command: adb root 3. Enter command: adb shell 4. Enter command: wm density 180 This will let the pin keypad show up.
Amazing video and clear step by steps! I have never rooted a device before and this worked beautifully! The only thing I was having trouble with was the google play store verification, as I did not know where the "device ID" was shown or how to get it as I tried following your steps there, but wasn't sure what to look out for or if I was entering the lines of code right. EDIT: I think I solved my problem with the google ID as I downloaded an android ID app and got the number it wanted, just waiting for it to go through, now just working out the camera..
Yes, swipe down to get the menu and add the camera shortcut. Once you do that tap on it and the camera will move and say back, front, or hidden. So you can move the camera to the front, back, or hide it, when it's in front or back state you can open the camera app and take photos. But not videos
@@LinxHype sorry, I should have been more specific. I'm aware of that feature and it works well, but the camera app itself does not work. Everytime I go to open it, it doesn't open and instantly crashes and I've tried following some steps on github to fix it but they are a bit too complicated for me and I can't work it out haha 😅
@@LinxHype Also, when I tried to fix the camera app issue, I redid the installation and tried to set the density to 180 again (which I already did previously with no problem) but now the driver doesnt work as it has a yellow '!' on it when I checked, so the "ADB" commands don't work at all. Tried reinstalling the driver but it still doesn't work so I'm a bit stuck 😅
@@w93o hmmmm, i haven't gone this path before. But open the Sim on the R1 and with a paper clip click the button. Then connect it to your PC and run the adb commands? I think that could help but not 100% sure.
Hi, I finally got it to run using USB C to USB C cable. But the rabbit is now blocked at Fastboot mode. Resetting using the SIM button leads to the rabbit wheel and the message:- Orange state Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted. It then resets and goes back to displaying Fastboot mode!
Okay 1. when it says Orange state your device can’t be trusted, do you click anything or do you wait for it to leave that message and boot up? 2. When it goes back to Fastboot mode, what is the exact message on the R1?
I seem to have lost a message. I got it out of displaying Fastboot mode by entering Fastboot device in Powershell. Rabbit then showed ANDROID and began setup. It connected to wi-fi, asked for a PIN and then started to copy from my iPhone. Sadly, it was taking too long and would have ran out of battery, so I stopped the transfer. NOW, when Rabbit reboots it is stuck in a screen with a message box saying ‘USB debugging Tap to turn off’. But tapping doesn’t turn off that message. Swiping up shows ‘Enter your pin”, but there is no keyboard shown! It’s stuck now at this point.

the reason pin keypad does not show up is the screen density on the R1 when android first boots up is too large. So decreasing screen density will make it smaller so keypad will be able to render. Apologies i forgot to put that in the video.
I am following your directions but when i unplug the device, hit enter and plug it back in, I am getting an error "Handshake: Could not open port 'COM7' The system cannot find the file specified". The device is turned off during this process. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks!
Hmmmm.....I can only think of 1-3 things you could try that might help. 1. Make sure the MediaTek Preloader USB VCOM driver is installed 2. Use a USB-C to USB-C cable 3. If all else fails, power off your computer and turn it back on 4. Make sure when in the terminal to hit enter then plug in the R1 device I hope the above helps a little. Have tryed the guide several times. But i cant seem to: 1. Find the device in the device maneger. I keeps connecting and disconnecting every 5th second. 2. Thers No option for open in terminal available for me. (i saw that u had commented a guide for that) but i dosnt seem to work either. Am i missing something here?
So open PowerShell in Admin mode. (Do not go to any folder or anything in the terminal, just open powershell in admin mode) and then connect the R1. Then run the commands. Let me know if that works. Also power down the R1, you can do this by using a paperclip and hitting the tiny button -> then plug it in and run the commands listed in my previous comments.

Are you on Windows or Mac? If you're on Windows, here's what you can do: 1. Go to the `r1_escape-main` folder. 2. Right-click on the folder and select "Copy path." 3. Open the terminal (Command Prompt or PowerShell). 4. Type `cd ` and then paste the copied path. If you're on Mac, follow these steps: 1. Navigate to the `r1_escape-main` folder in Finder. 2. Right-click on the folder and select "Get Info," then copy the path from the "Where" section. 3. Open the Terminal. 4. Type `cd ` and then paste the copied path. This will change the terminal's directory to the `r1_escape-main` folder.

Any Updates on this? can i upload old firmware to my rabbit or am i screwed since it updated? only boot to fastboot loader and wont launch android OS, ive done everything ill be so pissed if they locked it
I had that happened and what fixed it for me ironically, was restarting my computer and running the command in the terminal again and doing the plug unplug thing
Now if that doesn’t work, then go to device manager and if your device shows up as “Preloader USB VCOM” or something similar make sure the drivers are installed correctly. I can make a follow up video on this as well

Hey, cant find the device in the device manager when i try to add legacy hard where, i am afraid after reading the comments that it mayhave just been patched today, i was really looking forward to this and even bought a windows laptop just for this purpose, do you have anyway to rollback a version on the device, is this possible, and if it is an you please help me in this comment thread or make a video? thanks
there is no rollback im aware of. But what you are experiencing is most likely a cable issue. Try using a USB-C to USB-C cable. And if you are already using that try to use a different USB-C to USB-C cable. i had the same troubles with it not showing up and for me it was the cable i was using. Some cables are only charging cables while others support data transfer
Hey @pierreuntas6343, if you take out the sim there is a small button that if you press (with a paper clip or needle). It will reset the R1 and get it out of that mode.
