- The true story of boy traveler Hartley de Gerald, who traveled the world all by himself in the early 1930s. His solo adventures took him through the Caribbean by steamship to British Guiana at the age of only 11, north by train and river supply boat to the Canadian Arctic (where he ran into Charles Lindbergh) when he was 12, and across the Pacific to the island of Fiji when he was 13.
It was good to find you again Samuel again after the Korea/Japan series . This was a sad story. .A father just going missing is awful.
YOU ROCK DUDE ..THANK YOU
Back in those day boys were much more independent. Specially comparing them with today's youth
John deGerald was my grandfather's brother. He emigrated to the USA in 1906 from Stryj (today's western Ukraine, at that time Poland) together with the famous Polish strongman Zbyszko Cyganiewicz. His American dream came true, but after the crash of the 1930s, he broke off all contacts not only with his family in the USA, but also with us, in Poland. We never met Hartley or his other children and grandchildren ...🙁
By the way...
Did you also use any information from John's grandchildren to make this movie? How did you get to the family photo?
Kind regards
Thanks for this vid it makes me feel less bad that my own life had peaked so early too!
But wow what a simpler time, the world of the 30's really was like they depict in the Indiana Jones movies.
Pretty fascinating story, I'm very surprised I havent heard of him before. We never know what would have happened to him if his fathers bank hadnt closed then. Thank you!
🙏🏻
Certainly a Corvid-19 buster for a homebound Chicagoan like me.
