See major problem is audience acceptance... If Tamil audience accepts realistic movies from kollywood then kollywood also gives good films... In Kerala audience accepts & welcome realistic films and so what happens is it gives freedom to the cinema makers to churn out lot of experimental or great content movies without fearing about box office results

malyalam movies were always based on true events or realistic ...it's just,you guys realised little late...it's not like we never had super commercial movies but most of the movies connected to our real life events...we have been exposed to realistic movies from the childhood itself... we have our own cinema culture so audience are really picky about films whether its our favourite hero's or not...for us the stardom doesn't matter ..what matters is only quality ..and that's the reson we watch good movies despite of language barrier...
For decades Kerala theaters are highly supportive to Tamil Cinema...even films flopped in Tamilnadu did well in Kerala.... coexistence is the key between these two industries

12 or 13 years back prithviraj gave an interview for a malayalam channel He mocked malayalam ciniam and praised tamil films at the same time in that interview.There was this time we wondered watching tamil films like paruthiveeran, subramanyapuram, angaditheru theru etc these were not big star movies but it was very rooted and realistic at the same time...still tamil cinema have good movies but the potential of tamil film industry is bigger than that... i hope tamil industry will strike back soon❤

I think the reason a lot of Tamil People seem to like these movies is because Tamil Industry hasn't done movies like this recently.. And due to OTT tamil people are able to know abt these Malayalam movies which they didn't before. In my opinion films from both industry should be celebrated by both states.

Im a Malayali. Nowadays REAL TAMIL MOVIES are not happening.I miss directors like bharati raja,Mani ratnam,balu mahendra, Visu, K balachandar etc.The issue i feel with the Tamil film industry is they don't make movies which portraits the Tamil villages and Tamil culture. Hope current generation film makers wil realise this and make real Tamil movies.
