  • Welcome to the M0OGY Radio and Antenna review channel.
    It is 13 years since I brought you the first video of a Sirio Gainmaster antenna on the shores of England.
    This antenna quickly became the bench mark for those wanting a fibreglass base antenna.
    Role on to 2024 and have Sirio Antenne produced another World beating product?
    This time it is the turn of the new Monsoon, with what is called a Bottom Tuning system.
    NOTE: I said in the video 5 sections, in-fact it is six alloy sections including the base unit, to save any confusion to add up to a lofty 23 plus feet long.
    In a future video, I will build the antenna and conduct some On-Air testing on both Citizens' Band and 10M Amateur Radio Band too.
    If you're looking for a new aluminium base antenna that is good quality and an affordable price with QRO potential then the Monsoon should maybe be put on your list.
    Please feel free to comment below.
    Best 73,
    Dave M0OGY/26AT025

    Interesting Antenna Dave, very similar to the new Tornado but i guess that bottom tuning will help with setup.

      Thanks Neil, I'll see how it performs, it has a stated 26-30 MHz bandwidth, and the Tornado is only 27-30MHz, so some differences and it looks to be under £120.00 when Dealers receive them. It will be an additional antenna, NOT a replacement for my Vortex Quasar Q82, it's not going anywhere soon.🙂

    Love the genuine "Stati-Lite Ball" at the top! The Super Magnum is still alive!
    If you look at the antenna electrically, it's a DC ground, which is a good thing. The theory is, just like the original gain antennas of 60 years ago, that somewhere between a dead short and an unusably high impedance is the sweet spot where the SWR is acceptable.
    This is when an antenna analyzer is handy. You build it and set it up where you can get to it and then put it up for keeps.
    With as much capture area as the Penetrator, it should be a good performer.

    Have you got it up yet? Wondering how it tunes across the full 10m band?

      Yeah life gets in the way mate! Just ordered one tonight. Spec says 27 to 30 mhz so should be fine.

    not a DC shorted to ground antenna. what a pity. Why they still build not shorted vertical antennas??!?!?!!?!?

      Hello Jason, sadly full size antenna reviews deserve a lot of work (as in previous Sirio ones I have done) , I want to do this antenna justice, but simply have been way to busy and now the weather is changing, I'm trying to come up with a plan, even if it means getting some help .It will get done, but I won't be rushed.

    Hello, im just wondering if you have it up yet and how's the antenna is doing?

    • @m0ogy
      @m0ogy  Місяць тому +1

      Sadly not, I'm waiting for some help, and we simply haven't got round to it, I'm actually looking forward to trying it.

      @m0ogy I really like the way they designed this antenna. I sent an email to them to see if I could get on to review. The 5 8 venom didn't make it 7 months. Swr went from great to 9.9 . Weather destroyed it. I'm eager to try. To ship to USA cost more than antenna. I have been a sirio fan since the 1980s . Thank you for getting back to me. 73s

    Guess it’s 3000 quick key watts for folks that don’t much much to say ie Super Bowl and ch 28

      I think if you can't work someone on 1KW maybe best not to bother........I will try it on 10M and fire 1KW through it (legally) and see how it does

    looks like another poor Tornado version..
    typical SIrio build, and probably the same Sirio issues...

      Hello Mark, I'll see how it fares, TBH it looks to be pretty solid and the pre-sale price on UK radio stores is just under £120.00 , so not too bad, I don't know much about the Tornado other than the base coil seems to of had an update for 2024.

    How long are the radials?

    • @m0ogy
      @m0ogy  5 місяців тому

      Each radial is 2035mm (6.7 feet) so not the 9 foot of some, but still over 4m across the two
