I got my mays a week ago, I'm finding there to be frequency sweeping sounds when skipping tracks ut goes away when media is playing. But when on calls WhatsApp/discord etc the frequency sweep sounds are constant and on WhatsApp they are audible to the person on the other end which is crazy. This and the app doesn't detect the mays 95% of the time. Pretty much all cable related but that's really killing them for me right now😅
@@RustyRhin0 basically a couple high pitch frequency sounds playing random tones in situations I mentioned above. they remind me of tinnitus, you can Google what tinnitus sounds like and get an idea. Sorry I can't explain better, it's a really weird thing and I've never experienced anything like this from my other dac/amps but it's annoying enough that I just don't use the Mays at all. The cable is definitely flawed, I would not purchase the Mays until moondrop openly mentions they fixed it in an update as it could potentially be an inherent problem with the hardware that can't be fixed by firmware updates, hold on to your money until we know for sure.
@rishisagar I have the freedsp cable and it doesn't have that issue. Idk why they didn't just use the freedsp cable...I assumed they were the same cable as they look identical and use the same app. Perhaps it's an issue with the batch of chips they used with these particular cables
@@addie275 I've returned my Mays for a replacement, and I do not own the chu2 but super reviews posted a video comparing the may to the aria 2 and he recommended Mays over the aria 2 so I would assume the Mays would be better. They sounded good in general and worked well for most genres. Likely you won't have the issue I had either as mine is an isolated case it seems.
Good review, though I would like to say that your transitions are a bit long, It was almost 40 seconds that I had to skip from 3:57 to 4:35 to get back to the review. B-roll shots are good, but that's a really break to have. It's one thing to have a long intro video segment but once you're in the review I'd keep the transitions significantly shorter, so the viewer doesn't sit around waiting for more information since they're here for you and your review
Looks like a great iem, but I did see many people having issues with the awful app and the cable too having some issues in calls etc. I rally hope they fix it
The app has been buggy since its release with the freedsp cable. I dont even bother using the app and just the cable for calls. It works fine. My assumption is the chips they used with these cables for the may must have had a hardware flaw if it's causing these issues
Thanks for the review. How many volume steps does that usb c cable have?
Would may be better than Titan S for gaming, stuff like ambient imaging and listening for directions?
What would (will?) it take for you to buy in, to be sold on this? Will you be getting into EQ to get to fix the upper treble roll off?
I had to use a chopstick to loosen up hole of the eartip to make it fit the iem
Lol, clever! They should've just included a pair with the Mays😂. Thanks for watching!

I'm sorry but what do you mean by frequency sweeping sounds?

Bro do you have the chu 2? If so, which is better?

Good review. I think I'll stick with my Tanchjim One DSP, Moondrop Quarks and Jiu for type C headphones. Though I rarely use any of them..😳😁
theyre all over the place but thats what i heard
How do you compare this with aria 2?
How would you compare these to the truthear hexa?
how does it compare to aria 2
Which is better chu 2 or May?
Hi Dave interesting review do you think using a dongle would be superior to dsp cable on may ?
I tried the May on about 8 or 9 dangles and dacs using a 3.5 and 4.4 connection, and I heard no difference in the sound. Thanks for watching!
Nothing about the DSP. Interesting
holy view time padding batman
Would you recommend the aria 2 over these ones? I have the original Aria and I'm thinking of upgrading a little
not really anything with dx9 will provide similar result
Try simgot em6L or truthear Nova
I bought these after somehow I lost one of my Aria. May is not an upgrade, it's a sidegrade at best
how could you say it's a side grade? I mean, how is both technically a tonality compared to aria?@@Lindaine
how does this compare to the truthear hexa? i can get one for the same price as the may
If it were me I would get the Hexa. Thanks for watching!
Can you use the May with a standard 2pin cable with a 3.5/4.4/2.5 termination? I realize that will negate the DSP, but is it even possible?
Never mind. You just literally answered my question in the video. Lol.
Around 8:45
Lol, cool. Thanks for watching!
Does the moondrop link app still need access to all your files to function?
yeah and the app still doesn't work
@@SMNFXCN such a dodgy system.
@@SMNFXCN i heard the app was updated recently, did it fix any issues?
