Historic destinations are meant for historically significant structures, not just pretty ones. Based on how famous ad polarizing city hall is, this makes total sense.
Very happy, this building gets lots of negative comments but it is a gem. Love it or hate it, it is a fine example of brutalist architecture and symmetry.
We have beautiful post-colonial architecture seen nowhere else in the world but let's make our city hall a disgusting box of plain concrete.... INSANITY!!!!
@@irishgreen3919 the "History" is that two columbia grads and a bunch of out of touch executives decided to build this ugly hunk of crap to "Challenge Modern Conventions". It's stupid. It was built in 1968. Not exactly "Historical" just a bunch of counter-culture idiots. Boston city hall should've reflected the REAL HISTORY and AGE of the city. It should've been made to match our proud history, not appease the weird ultra-liberals that took over boston in the 50's
Deserved. The vast majority of architecture is forgettable, but brutalist architecture can really seep in strong emotions... like depression. Love or hate it I betch'a it makes you feel more strongly than 99% of building you've ever seen.
@@markjwil I'm an Irish white guy and I lived thru many Mayors from Kevin White to Mayor Wu and I agree with you all real Bostonians agree with you Have a great Sunday Mark
@irishgreen3919 real Bostonians? You mean the racist ones who's still mad because they lost the desegregation battle? Those culturally resentful Bostonians who stood behind Dapper O'Neal, Jim Kelly, Louis Day Hicks, Billy Bulger?
I used to skateboard in front of it. Always hated it… but today I see it as adding to Boston’s preservation of history. They should build a new one and turn it into a shopping mall and a set for filming movies. 😜
A historical moment when she put a camera in the women’s bathroom to try and frame Tania Fernandez, like the hypocrite that she is. MAYOR WHO did that? 😮

Ah yes, Brutalist.... What boston is famous for!!! Why would our city hall reflect literally the worst part of our city? Disgusting. You're a fool.

Your comment just shows that you have no standards whatsoever. Ignorant broad.
Bravo Christine Ryan The Commenters don't know the History of this Building never mind Boston

It also gets more federally funded as a historic landmark. Duh.
Obviously none of these people knew what Scollay Square used to look like.
They weren’t even in America 30 years ago
I remember the cobblestones that were everywhere!
When you look up the word “worthless” in the dictionary there is a picture of Mayor Wu
Mayor Wu is complete Foo…
Your mom.
Brutalist architecture is horrendous. It’s the perfect legacy for Wu. 😅
Recall Wu
Why? She has a high approval rating and the only reason for this recall is you rather want a white guy running the city.

Jokes on her, that thing is almost impossible to maintain. Oh wait, that’s not her money. Never mind then. 😊
