- *Late 70's skateboarding in Frankfort, Kentucky featuring David Shaw (yellow shorts), Greg Dempsey (light jeans, plaid shirt), Tim Rapier (cut off shirt, shorts) and Bill Harding (dark jeans, or white shorts, car jump). This is just a clip of us riding at my home (ramp), the old Cardinal Office location off East Main (we called it the wave wall) and on Colonial Trace (slalom). Filmed in Super 8 the first four or five minutes is a little "whitish". The second half is better color. Tame by today's standards but great times for all of us.

That was like looking into a mirror of what we were doing in my hometown in Australia at the same time.... except we weren’t wearing cut off tee shirts like your friend! Hilarious 😆

I wish I had known you guys! We were doing the same thing just down the road in Lawrenceburg. My ramp collapsed fairly regularly and we kept propping it back up. It's amazing we weren't killed. I rode an Alva board with Mid Tracks and Kryptonic 70mm Reds.
I spent a lot of time over in Lawrenceburg back in the 70's through the 90's. My girlfriend at the time lived there. Didn't skate there though. But if you ever came to Clipper Skateland in Frankfort, we most likely crossed paths. At the time of this video I was riding primarily Hobie boards, but I also had a Gordon & Sims woody. My two favorite boards were the Mike Weed Hobie and the Powell & Peralta Skull and Sword.
Good Memories. Greg and Tim used to live up the street from me on a Drive in East Frankfort. You guys had some skill. And not a helmet in sight.
We only wore helmets when we went to the skatepark in Lexington that use to be just off Nicholasville Road. : ) We had a lot of good times then. Thanks for the compliment!
