My son gave me a marquee poster of it for Christmas. How can you beat the Duke, Bob Mitchum, a young James Caan and lots of eye candy in Michelle Carey and Charlene Holt. Ride Boldly Ride! A little on the corny side in spots but still great entertainment. Surely beats the CGI crap thats coming out of Hollywood now. Even the biggest stars are in some real gaggers. I was only 9 years old, but I knew even then that I was seeing a good movie. John Wayne and Robert Mitchum were two screen legends who had talent to burn, and their best pictures are far better than what today's actors churn out. Look at what Bruce Willis and John Travolta have put out the past several years. Their movies don't even make it to the cinemas; they are in the five dollar DVD bin at Wal-Mart, and they can't even sell them for that price!!!

I loved that film all my life! El Dorado, and his silly sawn off shot gun pistol hybrid...

that pistol is known as a "howda hunter". Usually it was in percussion, and you can still get them in percussion today. They were invented to be used from the howda atop an elephant during a hunt. It seems tigers will sometimes attack the elephant's riders, and the howda hunter was invented as a last-second defense.

@@Hiraghm So not even linked to the "wild west"? I wonder where the film makers got the idea to use it...
      Thank you.

I just saw this movie recently on TV. A classic story of Good vs Evil. No political bullshit. I miss those times

I love how "Charlie" is trapped into facing off with his opponent.
Miyamoto Musashi would have approved the disadvanageousness of protagonist's opponent.
The battle was already decided before the first blow was struck.
