For his ult to be used how the devs intend (actually on enemy players) he needs half a second of CC invulnerability after his ult, and the damage radius to be larger and more damage. Even in plat/diamond I get every CC under the sun on me if I ult onto a player.
yeah there is no point in ulting around ana and ana is in every game basically.

In my opinion, revert the healing change and just straight buff the damage of of ult a bit. Or at least make him immune to CC for like a few extra seconds after landing.

Yeah like don’t make him just be able to land in front of someone for free but make it so there is a small time frame between when he is cc immune to when he can act out of his landing animation with a mobility move. Make so it takes more awareness and good timing to punish him instead of auto pilot sleep darts 😭
If they removed the healing change to a damage buff doomfist will just be a dps
an actual decent buff for him would be to make it so he doesn't lose his empower charge (the fact his next punch is empowered, not "losing the empower punch") when getting stunned or cancelling the punch with an ability
I think this is a bug, that they just haven't bothered to fix.
@@StallionTG I think its intentional, it makes sense. Alot of heroes lose their ult or abiliy when then get stunned while using it.

It's an inconvenience at worst but a strange one.

The fundamental flaw with doom is that the character was designed as a dps all the abilities were made for dps and as tank they just reduced dmg dealt.
Exactly. They needed to address the pain points of playing against DPS Doomfist alongside some buffs to balance him, not move him to tank when he isn't a tank.

(Have not checked video yet) I would prefer a meteor strike damage buff instead of health regeneration ability. Like there is a very low change of hitting someone with ult when ur chilling long in it. Meteor strike has to be unexpected and sudden to kill someone. This will be a next season nerf imo. Like the ult is still useless and cost increased.

If damage got buffed that’d be so huge. I’ll only get a kill with it if the enemy is either hacked or already low. It’s impossible to get value out of it outside of empowered punch
Doom's ult has a smaller lethal damage radius than one of Bastion's ult shots, and bastion struggles to get a kill with 3. Idk how they expect this to fix anything except for overtime scenarios.

they need to revert him -_- Literally for DPS Keep his current abilities except block remove that bring back uppercut and make his punch do the old damage back in the day so it can 1shot people with 150 hp or below aka tracers espically into walls, But his damage needs more buffing than its current damage even with empowerd punch its sooo WEAK STILL. He is a fundamentally flawed character design. He doesn't fit. Buff him too much he's oppressive at higher ranks and decent at lower ranks. Nerf him and he's useless at lower ranks and not worth playing unless your a specialist. He's fun but he and ball need to go

The real difference is that in 5v5 you have to gigabuff a tank flavor of the week style meanwhile removing the main/off tank fundamentally removed the ability to play both characters the way they were intended so yea you’re either a specialist or they’re in every game. The balance team either knows this hence doing nothing to ball for a year or as evident by every single doom change SINCE BETA doesn’t know what they’re doing. Instead of balancing the game they had they completely change the way characters interact obv tanks were affect having half of the synergy wiped from the game but also now they have 2x health armor abilities cd etc, they broke supports even MORE don’t think I even need to say anything else, removed half the features of the actual game (including 3 tanks lol) released in live beta for a year and cranked monetization to 13 while taking half a decade to lie to fan base about their main priority and entire reason for “making a new game” all it took was ONE single patch that simply wasn’t completely brain dead for people to forgive and forget. They walked back Mei changes a silver player could’ve told you were just silly in 30 min play test months later and every content creators up in arms because maybe they’ll have a career for another year. I think what blizzard did should be illegal unironically.
@spacejambluray2591 tracer doesn't have a ton of health, stun you, and is actually fun to play against. With both characters it's either your dominate or get dominated.
@@spacejambluray2591 The difference between Tracer and Doom/Ball are very clear.
Tracer has the lowest health in the game and has to really purely on her blinks and her recall to juke the enemies, has no CC, no way to get overhealth and need to time her engage carefully to get value
Doom and Ball also have to time their engage carefully to get value, but they have way more stuff in their kit to fight an opponent: High Health, Stun/Displacement, Overhealth/Damage Reduction. And for being a tank, they also have Knockback resistance which is the main form of survival of some DPS and Support heroes, making even harder to run away from them.
Of course, this would be more noticeable in a situation where they are actually strong or viable, right now you probably die you gonna die rather quickly
i shouldnt respond bc you missed the point to say nothing but whatever. tracer isnt cool and didnt become a character synonymous with ow because she only has one tool to interact with the opponents. she was respected as a high skill ceiling character whose mechanics and decision making were paramount akin to ball and doom. also doom was literally in the same place as tracer except instead of shoving you into lockers he sent you to the moon but all three were high risk high reward. now because of the power dynamics in 5v5 theyre not allowed to make these niche tanks good because it shifts the meta so drastically. in ow you could play them in any match now the play style they were built for has been removed from the game. The kit of high skill ceiling character doesnt matter because my point was that its feast or famine. also i think if youve taken the time to learn difficult characters you should require time to counter difficult characters instead of pressing e and winning bc they messed up. yea stuns annoying whatever but idc bc doom is so much harder to play than nearly every character with that being said id way rather have a balanced dps doom. @@Jarubimba
Oh yeah but echo can just turn into whoever she wants every damn min. It’s already a crazy amount of work to gain his ult, you have to be doing things constantly. DF needs his block buffed PERIOD. Most things shouldn’t go through/stop it. And like u said perfectly “Dooms ult isn’t scary” ppl who downplay his ult saying it’s fine know they rarely get hit and or dont play Doom.
His ult should let him use abilities near- instantly after he lands. That way it'll actually take some decent timing to CC him after ult

I think for high level it’s definitely a net nerf. For lower ranks I think it’s a power shift. Because our decision making is bad. I think they wanted to lower dooms ult uptime but they needed something in place. I get doom ult every fight if I’m playing properly so getting it every other fight shouldn’t change that too much. I’ll have to see how it goes in game there are tons of times where the healing change would’ve saved me. I saw someone suggest invulnerability and fuck immorts no immorts in this game.
Im currently writting a thesis on Doomfist. So far i am at 3 full pages but i didnt even cover 5% of the intended things so at this rate its gonna be atleast 60 - 70 page document that will cover past, current, future doomfist changes, my personal and community opinions on him, his balance changes and potentional fixes and improvements on doom. I would highly value any and all constructive criticism and help both from your avarage doom player to the top 500 like you Quake or ZBRA. Once the thesis is finished i plan to push it to the developers in hopes of actually changing something, because its exactly as you have said it, the balance team doesnt know what they are doing I dont blame them, the hero is difficult to play and understands. So we as the players need to step in and do something besides crying about it on forums and internet, because that obviously isnt working, so i belive a written paper should do the trick. Not only i think will it be a comprehensive document, i belive it will be actually hard to ignore if i can get the help of proffesional players because lets be honest, a paper written by a nobody like me alone will have ZERO value to the developers.

Proposed Doom changes:
Lower HP from 450 to 300, add 150 shield health
Punch- Make the first target you hit in empowered punch get an up to 1 second stun, everyone else that gets hit only has a 0.5 second stun
Power block- Make it only take 90 damage to charge, and blocking a CC ability gives full charge and negates the CC, but also instantly drops the block
Ultimate- Slightly revert the S8 change to ult charge rate, make it do 50 hps, and the outer ring of the ability has a minimum of 50 damage
i think these are all good except the ult changes u said, I feel like that's too many buffs
I agree, dev should treat doom and fist as 2 different heroes, if you block and get sleep darted - you fist should sleep for 3.5 sec or if you get yeprocked you fist should get stunned, not doom and so on.
i definitely think they should revert how fast you get the ult and just make the healing slower. I think the devs thought people would still use the ult to escape but since you'll get healed to pretty much full in it, you can get back into the fight faster anyways.
In the mastery bell curve of doom first players, a lot of the changes are catered towards those on the centre, I.e flex tanks rather than the top 1% of doom players.

More mobile, less powerful, because you can choose your engagements easier.
Which is the doom issue, he is maximum mobility, on a tank. Tanks are meant to be staying forces, Doom however is anything but staying.
Same with Hammond, Hammond is all about creating a presence in the backbone through mobility and getting his own healing, and is IIRC statistically the worst tank.
Good hog, even if he is more of a threat, feels far less imposing than a good Doom, because the counter for the Backline to a Hog is avoid LOS, stay at range, and a tank is often tanky enough to not get one-shot.
Good doom? Sleeps and such are all well, until it's quick play and suddenly even Ana is a toss up for being a counter.
Comp versus Quickly balancing IMO might be a good idea. Comp everyone is expected to be the same skill level, therefore you can let doom be more opposing without rocketing to the same consistent carry potential.

I think it really depends on the game. Some games your ult is just sitting in your pocket for half the game un-needed, and for those I think it will be helpful. Other games the enemies heroes shit on you so hard it feels like you need the ult to break through, and those it will make far harder.
Quaked, I don’t play much doom so I have to ask since I’m ignorant on his kit and play style. Why at 3:06 did you block when you went up to the vantage? Was it in anticipation of being CC’d or some other tech, I’d love to know.
If you use block/punch right after using slam, you can cancel it, causing you to go higher than normal.
It's an animation cancel, if you Slam up and then Block or Punch you go SUPER high
As a Diamond Doomfist main I think Doomfist should be to finish KILLS at least just like every other tank when done correctly. They can make his primary weapon SLIGHTLY STRONGER than what it is not by 2-3 up on the damage cause it seem that’s the case everytime I can’t finish a kill especially with pocket dps/healers. I don’t think there much else to do besides that & fix his bugs the one hero w/ the more CPs in the game should at least get that

one thing that doom (also ramm) needs is blocking saving from cc (hardlocks like sleep/flashnade/possibly hack), its only way to make him playable across all ranks
The ult change will help lower rank players (me!) which is good , being that doom falls of so hard as you go down the ranks. Obviously I cannot speak for t500 but it seems like they should revert ult cost and maybe do something to block (some kind of fortify,please) or gives us more stun back on punch or smth
Honestly some bug fixes and making his shotgun better would be a good start as quality of life changes are important. Also making his ult a proper ult genuinely would be nice.
the problem is that the reworked doomfist wasn't a rework they buffed his hp and lowered the damage output and added useless power block that doesn't block anything and then moved him to tank role. he is a third dps to the team.

Another reason why this ult change is a nerf is due to when you want to use your ult to drop down. If the enemy team if going through a doorway while you’re in your ult, you are not gonna contemplate your hp and how you need to heal up, you are just gonna use your ult either way, health or no health. In other situations the ult heals 300 hp at the max amount of time (4 seconds) meaning if you are low and you are just waiting in your ult, thats so much time that its a 4v5 with your team not having a tank. Its way better to land on a health pack and re engage in 1-2 seconds rather than wait 4 seconds for not even a guarantee all of your hp back

they should make doom charged punch not consume his electric (forgot the term) if it not hit anyone. right now his electric punch always wasted to move arround
I feel like Doom ult should have some cc, something like a knock up when he lands, and while in the air you cant use movement abilities, so it makes easier to follow up with a rocket punch
They should buff both the powered and unpowered punch. He's doomFIST, so he should do most of his damage with his fist.
It'd be nice if doom had a mini mauga barrier in the spot he ulted and it would vanish after a second so he wont get CC'd immediately
Can we have DPS doom back, I was a beast with him, I can still go crazy some games, but being a tank and having those expectations of a tank role on him and he can barely do any of that is not fun
The reality is that doom should have never went to tank, now he's just a "knock-back" hero for most people and it's dissapointing
I always thought his ult outside radius should have the old slam or uppercut effect where it pops you up for a second. Kinda like pile driver. Bring back some old doom nostalgia his ult should provide more of a stun the way more tank ults do…
They need to add knockup to his ult and make it deal less damage but land faster

Instantly thought of it as a nerf on average, and it's wild to me to think that it wouldn't be. For all the times you're not going to need the heal, it's a moot change and you had to wait 16% longer to get that ult. Most of the time you're not going to be up in the air for too long, and if you're that low to the point you're going to have to stay up there to genuinely heal up before going back in, then the state of the fight'll be drastically different by then, and you would probably have just been better off using it for a regroup and escape/roof tech and have a support heal you out of view of the opponent. His ult is extremely necessary at the moment and the increased ult charge requirement is just proof th at they haven't got a clue how to sort this hero out.

As a support player I have not encountered the specific situation that you have described in this video, and one of my groupmates often plays doom.

i think a hero like dps doomfist but not stupidly overpowered would be so much fun. I feel like the "Brainium Basher" from "Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville" would actually be so much fun.

I agree. How do the devs not realise that the bastion ultimate is basically 3 doomfist ults at once and it's still not very strong. Plus bastion can do it from safety and can also combo it with a tank in role queue.
If they really want the health aspect of doom ult, they need to make it to where you gain 200 health on use and maybe 50hp/s to make it impactful and to buff the charge rate, making it 16% SLOWER is such an enormous nerf for health that isn’t worth atm because 75hp/s forces you to stay in the air, so you’re not doing anything for 5s to get your health back where if you were on the ground, your supports would heal you faster and you’d have a presence, im fine with what they wanted, but they executed it the wrong way
I'm Diamond 1 and just got done playing.... but it feels awful. It feels like forever to get ult but paired with addition of Mauga + tracer/sombra/ kiriko buffs... He feels so vulnerable to insta die when you slam in even with powerblock + can't output enough damage vs any other tank who can heal themselves, WITHOUT a slow generating ult on cool down + can't protect your team /no shield ..... It's not good.... at least kiriko got buffed because yolo I guess....
Season 8 = supports are still op & oppressive & are the most impactful deciding factor of win v loss... But now certain combinations will feel like there is a tank that can't die in the front / won't be able to do enough damage to overcome the healing...
Doom basically can be killed or countered by everyone + has no where near the abilities of any other tank in regards to damage/mitigation/healing /Health&Armor .... But he has movement I guess?
This may be because I’m in plat but when I use Ult I usually aim for enemies and rarely get stunned out of it. I’m def going to be using this to engage more but I assume when I go higher it’s going to be punished. Until then though 😅
That’s exacly how it is. When i reached master, there was basically 0 chances for me to engage with his ultimate
Coming from a support, I don’t think it’ll be a big deal that Doom heals himself while in ult. Yes, that little bit of healing is nice, but Doom has a relatively small healthpool and tanks already give less ult charge for healing them, so the impact of that change on supports I think is pretty small

as a ultra flex player, the doom changes are going to be so nice, a full engage doom with ult is so nerve wracking as he runs out of los on 200 hp, and all you can do is hope he got enough overhealth to survive for a little.

They might aswell buff him at this point where they're now supporting heroes like Mei, Sombra, Bastion, Reaper, Hog and Ball - these heroes and Doomfist (OW1 version) are some of the most frustrating to play against heroes but until recently they were never allowed near top tier - but clearly the balance reflects who buying all the stupid shit from the store. Perhaps now without Activision, they can start to balance overall for fun and fairness; instead of for Activisions 'hOw tO MiLk uR cUsToMeRs' blueprint

defo nerfs about his ult hp regen effect I do think it will affects supports in terms of how they will build ult but I dont think its a sizeable affect

Doom ult should be he just instantly resets all cooldowns and cleanses himself of any debuffs. After that he has 9 seconds of all CDs being 2 seconds long. Basically Doom's version of Primal Rage. As for his normal mid fight, there isn't a way of saving him from being hard to use. Personally, I think they should give him the roadhog treatment of an extra ability. Revert all of his abilities to OW1 and put power block on right click. Makes Blizzard happy their reworked "tank" doom still exists but brings back the OG rollouts/combo potential.
especially with illari / mercy, doom coming back with ult for heals is huge in maintaining ult economy. it happens way more than people think on ladder to get that backline and doom as tank. as illari i can get 25-30% ult sometimes just from my doom coming back before a crucial overtime. same as kiri or lucio trying to get ult after a lost teamfight. i’m not a fan of the changes.
makes doom less impactful, less engaging, encourages a more scared playstyle for a hero that’s supposed to be a high mobility fighter.

I remember I never played Doom when he was a dps in OVW1 (huge regret) and decided to get into him in OVW2 when it first dropped. It was fun learning him as a tank. Then after the first set of nerfs I was like okay this'll be harder and I'm still learning him but I'm having fun learning him, so I kept at it. I was getting decent with him (at least for plat standards), but then they nerfed him again, and again, AND AGAIN. I was just just thinking man, this character is already insanely hard to play especially as a solo tank. Half the hero roster hard CC counters him in some way. I gave up on learning and climbing with him and I've never regretted it. You can call it a skill diff and cope and I don't care. The sheer obvious hate the devs have for Doom has been apparent the last 5 seasons and honestly he could get deleted for all I care. Great job Blizzard for making another hero effectively useless in the hero roster.

I think empowered punch needs a new way to be empowered, what it would be. I don't have the answer, But now everyone knows not to shoot at a blocking doom. Or just sleep him, hinder him, and so on.
Tbh I was js blinded by everyone saying "it's a buff" but this actually opened my eyes and even with how the hero is played. I said to myself "cool I can be aggressive now" but I completely looked over all the I've ulted on enemy team just to get hooked or slept and even with max hp I just end up dying. The only benefit I see is just being able to run away with relying on heals so now I can js stay on their back line.

In my mind they should just straight up remove the stun from punch, nerf/rework his clunky hand shotgun so its not either a one shot or 2 damage and buff his ult and powerblock then just make his fist empowered at all times so he doesnt rely on the enemy being bad or you sinking thousands of hours in just to be the least effective tank next to wrecking ball
At this point, do you feel that doom should just be reworked to sort of have a clean slate to build a healthy character to play and fight against.
Its worst than what i even thought of how it would be. 1 ult per round instead of 4 usually...And with Mauga everywhere you get countered so much now. Which dev is always promoting the nerfs

Instead of landing on a med kit and continuing pressure they want players to spectate the fight while they heal? 75 armor on activation, achieves what they failed to while forcing a decision on Winston.
The more I climb with this hero, the more miserable I get man. Like these "buffs" are just mindless and unnecessary. We arent asking for to gain health during ult, we're asking if you can make our ult useful 😪

I didn't like this seven seasons ago.
Doom tank isn't the same, Dps skill ceiling was the most fun and made it worth sticking it out with the hero.
Man make devs pls make empowered punch feel good by destroying junk traps or ignoring them 😢 feels jarring that it just insta stops you
