oh so excited for this one everyone has been dropping vids for this con. it really makes me want to go as an attendee. i actuly started watching u because of the art on ur thumb nail. it looked detailed and it did remind me of clamps kind of level of detail. its not super cute like a lot of other artists. many many many shops that have vlogs have art that is quick and simple to produce. they do that for productivity. ur art is elegant instead. thats something i love about it. it shows ur time and effort. ur different and i was actually looking for an artist that had more detail work that ran a shop that i could watch and follow.
I hope you get to attend one day! Their artist alley has so many amazing artists! And ahhhh thank you so much for the kind words ( ; ω ; ) I'm aware that my style of art may not be appealing to everyone since it's very stylized so it really does touch my heart to know that there are people that like my work::: Thank You!
Hello! It's always tricky for AX since they don't seem to have any strict guidelines for what they're looking for in portfolios. There's different types of art styles and skill level as well! Tbh I'm surprised I got in (my art isn't at a professional level) but I say showcasing the variety in your portfolio is important! Here's mine if you want to take a look and see what got me in. pebotsu-art-portfolio.carrd.co/ Most of my pieces are fully rendered with a mix of digital and traditional Try to show art that showcases your strengths and interests. With different poses, full body, bust. etc. you can show more dynamic pieces of your art and what else you can do. I hope this helps a bit, but this is what I had in mind when submitting my portfolio for jury!
i know for me i really don't mind if my work doesn't go viral all the time or doesn't get engagement every time BUT it is much more likely that my big merch projects will even sniff at being funded if more people see it. stuff like plush, apparel, key caps, they aren't products that i can just foot the bill until they eventually sell out at conventions, that preorder period is crucial. and i see my moots with big followings getting those projects funded from a few posts, i gotta at least try to build up some following XD
Yessss I agree! Big projects are such a risk to fund yourself so having a lot of followers really helps in those cases! It's kinda tiresome having to work a lot to hopefully get found with the algorithm by chance though 😭
