I’ve had this door for 3year now and love it just replaced batteries 2 months ago for the first time and have replaced the fuse twice and if you pull the batteries you have to reprogram the open and close time which is easy to do otherwise it’s worked perfectly will definitely buy again
Good job. Although i probably would have mounted on the side just in case of snowfall. Living here in Shreveport Louisiana. Snowfall is something we don't have to fret over. As a child we had snow on ground before, during and after Christmas. In my 50s going on 60. Snow is like finding a leprechaun on your property. Love the vlog. That new building will serve the chicks well. I use tarp on floor so I never have any problems of keeping floor protected. Come clean out time. Just pull it one. Pop in the next one and pile on bedding. Easy clean up detail.
I love my ladies first chicken door. I wanted to purchase my first door after watching you install your 1st one. I did not purchase it however until after you had installed your 2nd one. My ladies first chicken was easy to install and it works great. My girls are in a safe coop with a safe run outside. I have no idea what time the door opens or closes. It does its job without my knowledge and that is what I wanted.imeold, 61, and disabled. Sometimes when I have a bad night I want to sleep a little longer. Ladies First Chicken Door allows me to do this.
Looking forward to the rest of your upgrades. We finally received some cold weather here in south Texas. Was busy covering the citrus and avocado trees yesterday. My youngest daughter (32 year old) came by to help and she saw someone on UA-cam using the old type of Christmas lights that get warm, to raise up the temps on the trees. She then covered them with the material used for garden tunnels to protect from the cold. We will see if this works this winter. We lost all our fruit flowers after a very late hard freeze this spring. It's always something, lol. GOD Bless you and your wife and stay safe in HIM, Messiah Yeshua. Amen!
Solar is one invention that has come in handy for so many uses; even chicken doors! No squashed chickens. WOW! I wonder if you could do that for a dog door with a sensor on it to open and close. Do you use the solar for lights in your chicken area to let you know if there are any predictors around?
Hi Mr. Pete, my husband and I enjoy your videos and after watching this we decided to buy the ladies first chicken door. Worked fine for a few months but at seven months would leave a half inch gap at the bottom when in the beginning would close all the way. Now, two months later it is staying open two inches . I cannot find info anywhere on how we might adjust the door so it goes back to closing all the way down. Can't seem to get hold of the company. Do you have any thoughts as to what we might adjust on the unit to take care of the problem? Thank you
Slide the cover down and see if there's anything interfering with the switches. You can contact Matt at ladiesfirstchickendoor@gmail.com or text him at 336-298-2987 hope this helps.
I'm building my first coop. I've never had chickens before. Trying to learn as much as I can. I'm curious as to why you have your door so low to the floor. Wouldn't it be beneficial to place it higher to keep shavings from getting in the opening?
@@rafaelfamilia1004 Yes you can use self tapping screws as long as they are long enough and you don't strip them when tightening. You can also drill small holes in the shed and use the screws that come with the door. You can also drill the four holes for the door in the shed and use some small long bolts and nuts to hold the door on. Hope this helps.
Pete, I bought one of these but can't seem to get it to work automatically. Ladies First customer service and website is terrible. There is no one to help with my issues. Any suggestions?
I have had mine for a few months now, and do NOT like it at all. I have no idea why they programmed it to close then open back up about a 1/3 of the way, not once, but twice before closing. Then last night I get home from work a good 30 minutes after dark, and the door was still open. I went over to see if something was wrong, about the time I get a few feet away, it closes. I will not ever buy another one from them! I am glad you like yours and have had good luck with them.
I don't like it going up and down twice either, I can't really figure out what the purpose is for that. I might mention it to them to get rid of that update.

Yep, very low maintenance. Mine have been working great too.
As always good job Pete.
I appreciate that

Hello Pete. Great automatic door opener!
Hi Rita, Thanks 👍

Yep it getting cold out here.
This door is amazing.
Great job on the door! Thanks!
Thank you 👍
One more, I thought my chicken coop was big, 8x12. Then I saw yours!
GREAT video,loved it Pete!!!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks 👍

I've seen automatic doggy doors with a sensor on the dogs collar. I will be wiring electrical in the coop for the lights.
U gonna have to ventilate that house gonna be a hot one
Yep, planning on that soon. Thanks
I just started working so saving for mine 😁
👍
Great idea. I wish I could have installed one on our coops, but ice and snow would have rendered it unusable in the winter.
It should still work unless it gets rain and sleet on it and then freezes.🙁
I don’t have this particular door...but we put an awning over ours with clear corrugated roofing

I love how well thought out and precise you are. Any consideration of painting 'Ol Blue before you get too much on there..? 👍👍💛🐓🐓
Thank you, I think I'll leave old blue alone 🙂 it stands out better with that color.
Can you please advise us on how to install the door on a metal shed building one think on getting it but how would we install it? Any suggestions.
You have to cut out the opening as per instructions and just screw it on to the outside of the building or the inside like I did in the video.
@@petebeasttexashomesteading it does not have 2x6 on the inside just metal would it work with self tapping screws
Also thank you , and for the videos great source of info

I'm about half a cluck away from ordering this door. How long have you had yours? Is it still working well?
I have several of these doors that I use and I only had the fuse go out on this one once and it was easy to replace.
@@petebeasttexashomesteading I just ordered!

I mounted mine about 7-1/2" off the floor....
Bottom of the door is above the pine shavings.

installed a solar powered motion floodlight inside my coop
so as first chicken enters it trips light and lures rest of chickens into door.
That's awesome 👍
@@petebeasttexashomesteading so far it has been. works every time, as long as you have the one smart chicken.
That door noise would drive me crazy. Hopefully when the building is completed it will dampen some of the noise.
It sounds loud because of the camera mic picks it up that way, but it's really not that loud.
👌👍🌺🌸
Thank you 👍
