Hey guys!! Absolutely loved your video! I'm from Oklahoma (have you ever been there?) New Zealand is my favorite country and I've traveled all over it from Stewart Island to Cape Reinga, both coast of both islands. Favorite place of all is the Lake Waikaremoana Great Walk around Lake Waikaremoana on the North Island. You would love it! Anyway, the best part of your video was the mud flats! I had an experience exactly like that in Paihia at the Haumi River where it flows into the ocean. Got STUCK numerous times and the mud was so stinky and smelled like poo. It took a LOT of hard scrubbing to get it off of my hiking boots. Chloe was a trooper though!!
Hey John, I’m so glad you found our channel and I hope we’re bringing lots of good memories back from your time here in New Zealand. Sounds like you’ve discovered it from tip to toe as they stay here. 🤪😂 We’ve actually never been to Oklahoma before. I’ll let Chloe know about your experience so she has a good laugh and to let her know that she wasn’t the only one. 😂😂
Ah, I noticed someone else mentioned the origin of the name ‘Leisure Island’. It was a water park with water slides and bumper boats in the 1980s, the park was called Leisure Island. The name stuck. It was removed in 1990. Prior to that it was ‘Marineland’ with dolphin shows etc which was built in 1964… and before that, a quarry back in 1911 used to build the railways… and back in the day, a Maori village or pā. Love the video guys!
Great watching this take on Tauranga and Mount Maunganui. The Mount itself, the one you climbed, is called Mauao. Mum's side of the family are from Welcome Bay and our marae is there. I spend a lot of time over there throughout the year because of this, and every time we will climb the mount at least once every visit even if its raining because you can always warm up in the hot pools at the base.
It's called leasure island thier used to be a water based them park on it when I was younger. Most rocks you see on east coast beaches from Tauranga nth are volcanic referred to by geologists like me as igneous The mnt itself is a volcano
Aaaah, I went to Tauranga once and it was an evening trip and we went back on the same day. It was for a house poetry event. Met incredible people from there which was pretty cool. Anyway I remember though that the evening drive view of the place looked lovely. It was also cloudy but there was something special about the place. Your video just confirmed my assumption that it's absolutely beautiful. It's also giving Hamilton vibes. This is great content ❤️ love it.
Hi Whanau. Tauranga/The Mount are my home towns. ( Currently Live in Wellys ). The Mount isn't what it use to be 30+ years ago... It wasn't unusual on Friday and Saturday nights to see various size groups of people turn up for a bit of a drink and enjoying the music on the grass area and carparks...( Before the Liquor bans came into place up approx about 1km east along Marine Parade ) The cops were fine with it as long as everybody was behaving unless they got a complaint from residents ( which some were already down there enjoying themselves ) about loud music or people playing up. The Mount use to be a hotspot at New Years eve back in those days and you would get people from anywhere in NZ go to The Mount just to spend/ celebrate the incoming New Year . That's Summertime was so good back then . Oh Chloe .....where you and you mum were playing a game of " Stuck in the Mud " 😆.....we just call em an " Estuary " or water inlet . You all are fun to watch....The girls pronunciation was good enough , but here;s a little exercise.....Toe....rrrung...a
We use to play in the Estuary we're Chloe got stuck, As kids heaps of fun. Best to walk in it Barefoot, Plus the locals know there's yummy shellfish in it. Chloe your a cracking up. 😆
Hey guys glad Tauranga turned it up for yous, and yes been there many times for new years eve summer beach parties it would go off thousands of people from here and people from around the world would flock here to escape their winters, so yes this beach does rank, not sure about the green theme the home owners were looking 4😂😂chloe was hilarious, rugby boys would run in that mangrove mud as part of their training🤣🤣 hope all is well guys, much love🥰
Hi Chantal. Another awesome family video. How are you finding NZ cities and towns, compared to other countries? Their facilities, general costs to do things, the food, the housing?
Haha I've never witnessed anyone trying to walk across the estuary in shoes. You've got to do it barefoot (havent you noticed shoes are optional here?) and be prepared for shell cuts, crabs and sludge up to your knees. And make sure you get back across before the channel fills up.
chloééééé i become a big fan of chloé je suis devenu un fan d'elle je vois une future star en elle un jour j'aurai son autographe!vous 3 êtes superbes aussi mais chloé est ma préférée
I laughed at Chloe stuck in the mud but was a little worried, I've seen people rescued by helicopter because they were stuck and the tide started coming in, they are more dangerous than they look.
Nice video and explained nicely. We went to the Summit of Mauao hiking this year and it was a wonderful experience. I have posted that video in my channel #Kiwitravelvlogs
