Guys 🥹🥹 thank you so much for joining us this trip! We are so happy to have moved to the mount and as you can probably tell, we're already loving it. Can't wait to bring some more North Island vibes to the channel over the next couple of months. What do you think, should we take a surf lesson? ;)
Welcome! I live in the south island now but grew up my whole childhood in Tauranga! Gotta love the Mount! The views, the summer beach trips, and Copenhagen Cones sorbet ice cream in a waffle cone! This video is so nostalgic and makes me miss home so much! Haha. Enjoy living there! ❤
@waynemckenzie2757 some people say that yeah, others say it is a suburb of Tauranga, I go with a suburb as that's what I learnt at school in Tauranga and it is what Google states too. But either way I am not bothered. I respect your opinion. 😊 What I was trying to get at in my original comment is that I grew up really close and seeing many parts of the Mount was nostalgic. I hope you have a good day, sorry if I said anything that bothered you. Much aroha. ❤️
This is the main beach, and looks around... Only three people were seen earlier and they were out on the water. How peaceful and tranquil is that? Who needs their own private beach?
You should try polar desert bar they do rolled ice cream and its so good i hooe you enjoy tauranga i grew up here and love it so much it is truley beautiful
Enjoy your holiday skip places like the "mount" they are over priced and designed to rip not only tourists off but nieve new Zealanders as well ...next you're going to want to go to Queenstown.. the place every kiwi with a brain avoids... because...well tourists.
This is so cool! I started following you guys as you moved to QT lakes area and I am from Wanaka, then you go and move to my hometown!! Grew up in the Mount! Lived on Golf Rd and Marine Parade, in Omanu! Miss it!. Make sure you guys go up to Waihi Beach/Bowentown for an explore! Beautiful beaches and estuary (its at the other end of the estuary that Mt Maunganui is in!). Whilst there be sure to visit the "secret" beach - Orokawa Bay :-). Then you could check out the Waihi gold mining history and Karangahake gorge tunnels and river walk. Or take bikes!! Check out Waikino Hotel - absolute classic Kiwi pub and a dying breed!! (maybe for a reason lol). All that is a nice day trip from the mount!.
Had some friends from Winnipeg staying in NZ for about 6 months, back in the 80's. Taught them to surf while they were here. They took their boards home with them and drove around Winnipeg for the next year with them mounted to their roof rack.
I've spent a few years in both the Mount and Tauranga. The Bay of Plenty is not the worst place to winter. The Fresh Fish Market on Tauranga Wharf has the best fish and chips in NZ. One can see them filleting fish off the boat in a little room to the side, from where it is brought out to be cooked. The fish of the day is always excellent and it's never hoki...awesome piccies of fishing boats crossing harbour bars on the walls, too.
Can you guys please go to Taupo??? I really want to know if it reminds you of BC at all... I lived in Vancouver for 9.5 years (I'm a kiwi tho) I've now settled in Taupo and it just reminds me a little bit of BC, which I miss, but it feels like my own little piece of Vancouver here. It's also just a stunning place you should definitely check out, a night would do the trick, it's not a big place to explore!
That new skate park is now open and you should go, there are loads of kids using it - would be good to go when they are all at school. Tauranga is my hometown, and I love Pilot Bay. , Go up Mount Maunganui and walk around base path. 😊
Welcome to the Mount! I'm a local here, living over in Tauranga. You should go visit Mt Zion Coffee Co. My friend Matt is the barista there, best coffee in town I reckon! How good is Rice Rice Baby ... that's our go to for date night haha.
Hiya and kia ora guys welcome to the mighty north, met some canadians for the first time who all got offended when i thort they were americans....hehewe all were working togeather at a kiwifruit orchard picking fruit in te puke just up the rd from ya, they were earning a quick buck while camper vaning around aotearoa it was cool talking to them awesum bunch and they respected my culture ( maori ) seasons over tho so i hope they are doing well, enjoy the north guys...kia kaha👍
The mount is a very special place. Beautiful beach, lots of green space, obviously the mount itself, and also pretty close to Auckland if need be. Also, don't miss out on Hawkes Bay, I think the most underrated part of NZ (wineries, Havelock North, Cape Kidnappers, Waimarama beach etc.) Enjoy it!
@@nickandraychel For views of Auckland City. I would recommend Mount Eden, North head/Devonport, Cornwall park/One tree hill and maybe the Auckland domain/Museum?. Other areas I would recommend are the waterfront/viaduct area, Mission bay, Takapuna beach (Not far from Devonport/North shore). And if you are feeling adventurous I would also recommend Waiheke Island and/or Piha beach on the West coast. It is mid winter tho, so fingers crossed the weather stays sunny for you;) Love your channel BTW.....👍👍👍

Definitely try some surf lessons on the main beach.

When I retired, I asked myself ‘where in N Z would I live if I could pick anywhere at all’? I chose the Mount, and haven’t regretted it one bit.
Seems like a good choice!
If you love the Mount head up to the Coromandel the beaches are even better
We can’t wait!!
Pauanui Beach sensational.... particularly in the summer
This is the main beach, and looks around... Only three people were seen earlier and they were out on the water. How peaceful and tranquil is that? Who needs their own private beach?

As an Aucklander which is quite expensive I'd be surprised if their first reaction to the mount is not fuck i need a job.
We get jobs wherever we go! we started applying for jobs in the mount three weeks before arriving

Haha that’s awesome. I can’t imagine surfboards being very useful in Winnipeg! Hopefully they made it back to the coast in Canada at least

Wow this place looks so beautiful!!! 💕🔥
It is the besssst
So if you're gonna learn to surf, the Mount is place to do it for sure. The waves are fun and user friendly.
Good to see your enjoying your life. ❤

Since opening, Nick has been there every single day!
@nickandraychel That's great, I drove passed it when it first opened and was amazed at the number of kids trying it out! 😀
So true!!! It really draws a crowd haha

The Mount is nice, but further up in Waihi, and the Coromandel are much better.Such quaint little towns.
Day trip suggestion.....Hot Water Beach on the Coromandel, you wont be dissappointed.
Thank you for the suggestion!
Hi Guys, I met you in the Bethlehem Supermarket a few weeks ago. Welcome to the Bay of Plenty. Enjoy.
It was nice chatting with you! Thank you. We are still loving it here.
The Mount/ Tauranga have a fight each year to see who has the most sunshine hours per day, with Nelson/Golden Bay. Either one is a good fit..
Lol except for when New Plymouth wins.
Welcome.
Thank you ❤️
Why did you leave qtown at the beginning of winter??
We hate winter lol!!!!
@@nickandraychel And why go to the North Island in winter! All the beaches and bush are so much better in summer.

It really is!
Food for thought. No need to add island to a name if it starts with Motu, as motu means island.😊
Oh thank you for letting us know!!!
Grab your fish and chips and go sit on the beach 💕💕

I’ll bet you can’t go to the local pub for a beer or go walking at night without being threatened nz is not a safe place for people to live
Yawn. Just moved out of the mount. God damn it that place is the most boring place on earth. Glad you guys love it though.
Where did you move to? :)
Great Tourist spot, pretty boring to actually live in for a couple years tho
where is your child
There is no child lol
