This movie is timeless for me. I keep rewatching it... decade after decade. The old era of movies just had a unique charm to it! A somehow comforting and familiar feeling.
Great soundtrack, incredible pace, atmosphere so real you can feel the cold on your skin, solid acting all round. This was not a Rambo movie, it was its own masterpiece.
I remember being blown away by this film (never really got into the sequels). The late, great Brian Dennehy's performance is especially good. When Rambo finally gets up to him with the knife against his throat, he conveys real fear at what he has unleashed. Terrific movie which stands the test of time on repeated viewings.
Agreed. Sequels seemed tacky and cash grabs to me and my brothers. We’d always go back to First Blood. Such a great movie and a sad way to find out how the Vets were treated upon their return home.
He didnt have a mental breakdown because of his experiences in the Vietnam war. He had a mental breakdown as a result of the way he was treated at home. This is why you dont mess with people.
Amen to that! My dad was in Da Nang 1968, he was cheered when he left, spitted on when he came back. He Commited suicede when i was a kid. Not because of all the fear and gruesome he seen in Vietnam. No, because of the discusting people in our country that called him a baby killer.
@@Afghanen I'm so sorry for your loss. I was lucky enough to come home to cheers and still found it difficult. I cant imaging what your father went through. I thank both you and your father for your service.
You don't know much about PTSD, do you? Without his experiences in Vietnam, a person wouldn't react in this fashion to pretty much any thing that goes down in the opening act. They clearly show him snapping due to ASSOCIATIONS from Vietnam. No one beats up an entire police station cuz they want to shave him lol.

Hard to believe the book bounced around Hollywood for ten years before it was finally turned into a movie. One of the classics of the time, I remember lining up to see it on a Saturday night. With a million other people. It was so huge.
I can never turn the movie off if I see it.I see it at the movies in nineteen eighty two and i've been watching it ever since I think it's one of sylvester stallone's best movies and it's very underrated
This came out when I was active duty Army stationed at Ft. Lewis Washington. I remember seeing it on post and it was a crazy fun time for everyone in there.
I feel really fortunate that I got to see it in the theater when it first hit, and that I got to see Sly through his whole career to now. There will ever only be 1 Sly, he is a tuff act to follow.
Beat 18 million dollars ever used on any movie in this life time thank you for making our past and changing every one’s life rambo could never be played or remade by any person ever rambo made the movie and will go down in history as the best war movie series ever
We were so excited for this movie, as we lived in Surrey BC. Hope was just up the highway from us and this was one of the first movies in a long line being filmed in BC. I remember how we all were annoyed that they always portrayed it as being some part of the US.
The final product of First Blood is a solid piece. It has a good balance. The story is believable. At no time did I feel insulted while watching it. There's movies that are so stupid I just stop watching them. First Blood I can watch from the beginning to the end. That's something.
It’s definitely the best Rambo movie. And, yes, his reaction is due to repeated mistreatment at home. He tries desperately to avoid conflict, but the locals will not leave him alone then all hell breaks loose…
They aren’t lying. In the book, Rambo shoots anyone and anything that comes into his gunsight. The team with the dogs are all killed. It’s a very brutal book.
I remember seeing the trailer for this film yet! - "What..was that? What's this?! Omgosh..i have to see it!" Ofc i did not make the theater as I didn't have a car yet at the time, aha. David Morrell says Rambo kills "perhaps 250 people" in his 1972 First Blood novel. As Andrew Vajna says here, he didn't want Rambo to be a "crazy murderer" So they decided to reduce the kill count from around 250 down to 1 This made it much easier for us, as viewers to sympathize with Rambo.
Every time I hear that line "John Rambo is a Vietnam vet. Green beret. He won the congressional medal of honour", I think of that scene in The Sopranos "That Valery, he's a Russian green beret. Killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. He's an interior decorator" 😂
This was a metaphor for policy brutality and zero experience on descalation. Rambo just wanted to get a sandwich and the cop quickly escalated the situation to where Rambo burned the town down.
I've seen this film, I'd guess around about 140 times. I'm so glad that they, Carolco & Buzz, Ted, all involved, did persevere with it. It's one of the greatest films ever produced in my opinion. Spencer.kissack, author.
The movie softened the violence considerably. The book was way more brutal. If they ever decide to reboot this franchise, they should make this first chapter as a horror that sticks closer to the feel of the novel.

A classic movie that lets us know that veterans like John Rambo ,despite being heroes, are trated like dangerous animals, even when they do nothing wrong and just want to be left alone to live out their lives. The real tragedy here is ,people with PTST disorder,no matter what the cause, continue to be failed by a corrupt society that care more for drug addicts and alcoholics because they think they can cure them more than can cure PTSD.
This was a Man who' Life was very damage by the war but when came back to the united state He's turns on it also a person who was torchert and really Lost but very strong with weapons high deadly weapons from guns mixed with knifes And bow and arrow
Sylvester Stallone, aka 'Rambo,' sat out Vietnam from 1965-67 teaching girls' PE at a Swiss school, before coming back to the US to get a deferment before ultimately flunking a draft board physical

Totally agree. This one is definitely in my top 10. There is just something about it.
You got it! What a feeling at the time to enjoy cinema it was.
Its a classic!
the late 70s early 80s was a great era
First Blood is the best Rambo film
I agree, it is the best ever
I agree
It's the only one.
For me one of the best films ever made . I watch it over and over across the years
First Blood and Rocky 1&2 is hands down Stallones best work. The drama is perfect.
and Rocky 3 🤘
CLIFFHANGER
Also 'Creed' please include that too.
Don't forget Copland.
Great soundtrack, incredible pace, atmosphere so real you can feel the cold on your skin, solid acting all round. This was not a Rambo movie, it was its own masterpiece.
Well stated 👍
That truck scene where it breaks through the barricade , and the perfevt timing of the music .. Cinematic history.
I totally agtee

Watched it last week with my kid....'Dont push me' is now a common phrase around the house. Job done!
I say to my wife " I'll give you a war you won't believe " 😂
Love First Blood and I believe it's Stallone's best work. Stallone breaking down at the end was the most powerful scene.
Rocky 1 is Sly's best. First Blood is good stuff too though. I'd give it the second slot.
First Blood is a classic. Timeless. I stop and watch it EVERY time I see it on TV

Please tell me Jerry Goldsmith received a few awards for the musical score! I almost don't think I've ever heard a better musical score for a movie.
Definitely one of his best. Great composer.
Great movie. The sequels were over the top fun. This one was based on terrible treatment our veterans received, powerful stuff
Okay movie. I only watched about 50 times. I have the entire Rambo series but first blood is the best by far

If They ever remake First Blood, I feel it would be interesting to make it as the Book Portrayed Rambo !!😎
...everyone HAS to watch part 2 of this video!
I read the book in the 1990’s. It’s a lot more hard core than the movie.
A beautifully shot and impeccably acted film and one of my favourite films I watch often. Even bought it on HDDVD when it came out!
The musical score captures the melancholy of the character perfectly.
Un hommage aux anciens combattants du Vietnam qui ont été mal accueillis après la guerre, merci Mr Rambo
In many ways these movies still motivate me
They aren’t lying. In the book, Rambo shoots anyone and anything that comes into his gunsight. The team with the dogs are all killed. It’s a very brutal book.

Specially this masterpiece ✨🎯💥
One of my all time favourite movies. I've read the book also and Rambo is a real bad ass in that.
i love this movie
I remember my now brother in law had this on video at home and I watched it over and over enough to compromise the video quality. Classic movie
