I can’t believe that it’s been 40+ years since the debut of the movie. I bought the set with all 5 Rambo movies but this one is MY all-time favorite. Must’ve watched it 100 times and it never gets old. Col. Trautman RIP buddy.
Thanks for an enjoyable video. I grew up in New Westminster, about 135 km west of Hope, but spent my childhood summers in Kelowna, 239 km to the north-east. This required driving through Hope, where we sometimes stayed the night. My mother would tell me about how she would travel from Kelowna to the coast. First by stern wheeler on Okanagan Lake, then by train, along the Kettle Valley Railroad. It was almost like something out of the wild west. In fact it was. My grandfather was a cattle buyer, who rode a horse, and was armed. Naturally, I was always aware that Rambo was made in Hope, over forty years ago. By that time I had moved to Norway. There, our closest neighbour had a brother living in Hope, and we went there yet again to visit him, and other friends who had fled Greater Vancouver. Despite living more than half my life in Norway, I regard myself as a Cascadian, sometimes referred to as an Ecotopian. I may have been influenced by Rambo, because I always regard Hope as being on the border, placing it as the first outpost in the Empty Quarter, as described in Joel Garreau's The Nine Nations of North America (1981), or a northern extension to the Neutral Zone in Philik K. Dick's novel, The Man in the High Castle (1962), or the Rocky Mountain States as it is called in the television series of the same name.
@@SpaceCattttt ... and what do you think of British Columbia as a name? The Stó:lō lived in the Fraser Valley, including Hope, for at least 8,000 years. They were also the most numerous people well after smallpox, introduced by Europeans, killed 2/3 of them in 1782. Much of the area was referred to as Columbia District from about 1810, although some people referred to it as Oregon Country. That continued until the Oregon Treaty of 1846. The Colony of British Columbia was created in 1858. It became part of Canada in 1871, thirteen years later. Of course, one also has to remember that the Canadian authorities interred Canadians of Japanese ancestry near Hope during World War II. Some of them descendents of Japanese people who had lived in Vancouver since 1860! I find the racism of British Columbia disturbing.

It was a magical time living in the times when Rambo First Blood came out! I was a little boy which woke up early in the morning and played with our VHS player I mostly looked at movies like Rambo First Blood of course and Convoy which were on VHS tapes but now i am lucky i got both movies and more on DVD and Blu Ray! I really don't like how physical Media is dying off and Subscription type of movies like Netflix has taken over because of the Internet! I really love those days of the Tape VHS movies it was really magical! Thanks for making this video Nostalgia Trips!
Everyone has their own nostalgic memory of this film. I don’t remember exactly when I saw it for the first time. However, I do recall the movie review on TV in the evening. That was during the Easter holidays in 1983. The weather that day was rainy and cold, just like in the film. I really wanted to watch the movie, but I was still too young at the time. I eventually watched it on VHS, sometime between 1984 and 1986. By the end of 1986, I was already playing Rambo II on the C64. By then, I had seen both films. “First Blood” is still worth watching.
Rambo wanted something to eat, all of this could have been avoided if the sheriff took rambo to Dairy Queen. Dairy Queen was right by the corner of the police station.
This was a sad movie. One of the saddest parts was at the beginning when he had learned that his best friend had died. His home was the army and the only friend he had left was his commander.
Movie was ahead of its time. It brought awareness to how the Vietnam vets were treated when they returned. Also it brought awareness to PTSD. The ending always make me tear up when he vents to his commander.
Hello from Japan Rambo's first movie This is still the best work No matter what I like Stallone's sad expression It's not just an action movie The emotional scars of veterans I think you express it very well.
Greetings from Canada! It was an excellent film, I suggest reading the book as well. Quite a different ending to the film. I heard they tested the book ending to an audience, and it didn't go over well.
In the novel, Teasle really disliked Rambo because he was a Korean war Vet and he believed they were treated worse or forgotten about because of Vietnam vets. This is only indicated in the film when you see Teasle sit in his chair in his office and behind him you can see some war medals including the Purple Heart. Great video
@@TylerLedford-x4ocorrect. Like I said, in the NOVEL, Teasle is a Korean War Veteran and he hated the fact that Korean War vets are forgotten about because of Vietnam war vets. He hated Vietnam vets. Is that clear enough or do I need to explain it another way?

Just to add to your commentary about the bridge, just in case you weren't aware, the crossing we remember in the movie was just to the left of the new one as your heading out of town, and of you look on the east bank of the river, you can still see the footings...that's all that's left. In no way can the new bridge really be associated with Rambo and the legacy of the film, IMHO. Great video, I like Hope and enjoy stopping by and revisiting some of the locations, fortunately the town hasn't changed that drastically in 40 years.
I was 20 years old visiting Vancouver in 1979 from Montréal I stayed one month in White Rock ( most beautiful place near the beach with the 1,000 steps ) my cousin was in the Rambo movie as an extra as they were filling it in 1979 and he told me that they put a few American flags 🇺🇸 to make it look like an American town. Wait what?! You mean that this beautiful place is in Canada and not in Oregon? 😮 Nice video. It's also pretty cool that you had pretty much the same weather conditions as the movie. 😊👍
Sad but true how many Veterans were treated after the Vietnam War.Many people hated our service members .Our Korean War Veterans were forgotten and our World War 2 Veterans were our Golden boys.
last time passing thru hope none of that was there *it apparently was unveiled for a “rambo 40th anniversary” celebration on oct. 8, 2022 (so it’s all pretty new
I so glad Rambo wanted to go see his war buddy, otherwise the amazing chain of events afterwards would’ve never happened. One of my favorite lines from this movie is when he escapes the tunnel and confiscates the army vehicle, he tells the driver don’t look at me look at the road that’s how accidents happen 😂😂
What a beautiful cozy town seriously I would love to visit it just because it looks really cool and cozy and obviously welcoming.. I love big cities and stuff but I love small towns like this or it looks like a small town to me..
Back when this came out I was in the Washington Army National Guard and also had been attending Officer Candidate School. One of my cousins saw this movie and came to me laughing, telling me that they made Lt Morgan and the National Guard look like idiots. My last name is Morgan. Thanks a lot, guys. Incidentally, I have been through Hope on a road trip (before I realized that is where the movie was filmed), very nice place!
Amazing!!!! I just watched the movie again and was looking in google earth for see the locations.... The town grow and change a lot... but your video is a great great stuff... I was in love with the atmosphere of the town in the movie and it is the good thing of old movies, they show a lot of reality.... Looking in your video the atmosphere of the town still there.... You'll have to go back to Hope and do another video featuring the canyon where the famous helicopter scene was filmed. Who can forget that part where a stuntman jumps off the rock face. It's close to town and well worth seeing.
Excellent, Thanks for showing us, I noticed in the clip you showed with the motorbike the low cloud cover in 1982 was exactly the same as when you filmed.
@@Nostalgia_tripsRyan Gosling is Stallones preferred choice to reprise his most iconic role. He has the basset hound droopy eyes, he can get his body in shape surely. I’m hoping and what the fans deserve is a prequel. A young Rambo with his family and his journey into becoming the iconic war hero he eventually became. Watching his Baker Team deployed into Vietnam his capture and ultimately escaping the POW camps. And of course I want to see him receiving that epic first blood knife 🔪 as he heads into the jungles of Vietnam. Love Rambo seen this movie countless times.
The original Rambo was something like 3 hours long and very cheesy bad,Stallone tried to buy back the negatives and destroy them😂 they edited alot of Stallone's dialogue out and Stallone re wrote the books ending keeping John Rambo alive thus paving the way for multiple sequels 😂
This was my favorite out of all of them, the bridge had that nostalgic feel to it, i Remember when this came out in 1981 i was 17, i am 56 now and the talk of the town was the RAMBO bowie knife, it had a fishing kit in it ,waterproof matches a compass , suture kit, it was a bada$$ knife, but it wasn't practical . You can go to the auctions outside being sold by people, the thing was huge. It was great to see the locations now and what they look like side by side, you did a great job enjoyed this immensely. Now my favorite movie i am going to look at is the>> DEER HUNTER
@@Nostalgia_trips Ya me 2 it made the ambience of the hole movie, i think there going to put pictures of it up by the Bridge somewhere. Was that sportshop there when he goes in breaks the cans of gun powder up or was that made just for the movie. Greetings from Japan. I would love to visit that city someday. I saw the first Rambo movie on TV when I was in elementary school. It is still the best movie I have ever seen✨
The journey began over forty years ago when I was standing in front of the cinema and unfortunately wasn't allowed in because of the age rating 😝 and is still going 😂 - Rambo was influential - thanks for the impressions 👏 and many greetings from Frankfurt Germany - Tommy 😊
Very well done! Thanks! I’m in chicago, so I always get a kick out of boring my family pointing out locations from movies filmed here. Only place I’ve ever sought out on a vacation was the park and Sts. Peter and Paul church from Dirty Harry in San Francisco in 2015
The big tree that splits the road where Rambo rode his motorcycle trying to get away from Teasle is nearby as well as the area where they kept the big log that says Holidayland. We went there last March and it was awesome. The guy at the visitor center near the area where Teasle picked up Rambo showed and had us hold the real machine gun used in the promo poster of Stallone for Rambo.
you are not weird for going to that location just because of First Blood movie location, because I would have done that too :-) And you are not the only one who saw that movie a million times 🙂

Wow, I can't believe how many views this video has gotten over the last week. Can somebody please let me know how you came across this video. Its interesting because the first ten months of this video's release it got hardly any views and now it's up to almost 80 thousand! Please don't forget to subscribe to the channel. More videos will be coming. Thanks for watching folks appreciate you all!
Just popped up in my feed. Wasn't searching for movies, Rambo or Stallone etc. But am a big fan of the movie and read the book years ago too. Every chance something in the cookies told the algorithm to feed it. Nice tour vlog though, thanks for making ti.
@@johnamcinerneythanks for letting me know!
Same here. Happy to have found this. Thank you!
@@aintlyon304Thanks for watching
That's how UA-cam works... But you need to keep on creating content. I live in Vancouver, so maybe that's why your video came to my recommended list. There are tons of movies and series you can show, in this city, in BC, even in Seattle.
Wooowww!!! Seeing this is going back to the past and makes us nostalgic as we remember beautiful moments from our childhood. Thank you for making these videos of famous film locations that I, like many, will probably never have the chance to visit in person. Greetings!!!
Wait what?! You mean that this beautiful place is in Canada and not in Oregon? 😮
Nice video. It's also pretty cool that you had pretty much the same weather conditions as the movie. 😊👍
Thanks! 😃
Hope! Every time I stop there to charge my car, it brings back all the warm feelings I have for the movie.
LOCATION FANTASTIC ...❤
Hey, thank you for showing this. Firstblood is one of my all time fav. And this is so nostalgic so see the place now.
Sad but true how many Veterans were treated after the Vietnam War.Many people hated our service members .Our Korean War Veterans were forgotten and our World War 2 Veterans were our Golden boys.
Greetings from Thailand. Thanks for sharing the filming locations of Rambo (First Blood). Rambo Parts II, III, and IV were also filmed in Thailand.
Здорова, спасибо. В детстве это был мой любимый филь, а потом еще и видео игра по одноименному названию. Вот это были времена 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing this video. Awesome stuff in that town
keren nih.....bekas lokasi syuting jadi kawasan objek wisata.
Nice I am a 80s baby in love the film and didn't knew they have a Rambo statue out there..
Looks like a beautiful little town!
It is!
It's picturesque but changing that bridge was criminal,it should have had a preservation order on it
Great video! I am Canadian and would love to see Hope some day. Thanks! 🙏
Canada is awesome!
Was there in 1988, and the Rambo stuff wasn’t a big deal. They had a bit of stuff on it at the tourist info center, photos etc.
last time passing thru hope none of that was there *it apparently was unveiled for a “rambo 40th anniversary” celebration on oct. 8, 2022 (so it’s all pretty new
The whole town has become a Rambo shrine. Love it.
Awesome movie and beautiful town, cheers.
What I really like about this town is that it looks even nicer than it was in the film (except the bridge)
very beautiful small city.i can live there..😊❤thanks this nice video.
Beautiful town!
How beautiful place this small town is !!
I so glad Rambo wanted to go see his war buddy, otherwise the amazing chain of events afterwards would’ve never happened. One of my favorite lines from this movie is when he escapes the tunnel and confiscates the army vehicle, he tells the driver don’t look at me look at the road that’s how accidents happen 😂😂
maybe thats the plot for the next Rambo movie he finally meets up with his war buddies
Can't believe they tarnished your name like that, haha
He did have to be back at the drugstore on Monday!
And yes the town can be perfectly in Oregon... Thank your for this lovely video!
Great video really enjoyed it 👍
The gun shop is actually built in the road next to that shop. You can see the crosswalk in front of the gun shop when they show the overhead view.

Just came across this and noticed you are the Taiwan lover guy! 😄👍
But that would have made fir a boring movie...I assume that you wanted a romance film?? Kiss and make love, shit fuck no!!
@@manalishiprods What?
@@ftsection2156 That's my name!
Made my own little pilgrimage to Hope in 2019 and went to many of the filming sites. Not sure if you got up to the Othello Tunnels, lot's of filming locations up there and very beautiful.
Unfortunately I didn't because I was only there for a few hours. It's an excuse to go back!
You'll have to go back to Hope and do another video featuring the canyon where the famous helicopter scene was filmed. Who can forget that part where a stuntman jumps off the rock face. It's close to town and well worth seeing.
Hopefully next time!
Excellent, Thanks for showing us, I noticed in the clip you showed with the motorbike the low cloud cover in 1982 was exactly the same as when you filmed.
Just Subscribed 😎🤘....I'm a big filming location fan, can't wait to see more future vids from your channel
Appreciate it. I'm not sure when there will be another one because this is mainly a passion project but hopefully I will get the chance soon!
I was hoping you found out and visited the spot in the opening of the film. That gorgeous location by the lake with the old cabins.
Unfortunately I didn't have the time. I also heard that the cabin is no longer there and it's all overgrown with weeds.
They did a terrific job of picking Sylvester Stallone to do Rambo, another famous character of his.
Absolutely, and now I read somewhere that they are remaking Rambo and Adam Driver will play the part.
@@Nostalgia_tripsNo! Can't be!
I was stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA. when this came out. When they showed it on post the soldiers were fired up. It was awesome.
Thanks for watching. I still wish that original bridge was there!
@@Nostalgia_trips Ya me 2 it made the ambience of the hole movie, i think there going to put pictures of it up by the Bridge somewhere. Was that sportshop there when he goes in breaks the cans of gun powder up or was that made just for the movie. Sylvester is a aging older man now, we need to preserve these things ,of what life was like before social media , cell phones, and the internet, before this world took a severe turn for the worst.
So incredible looks amazing and lovely
The town called Hope British Columbia
Great memories from the film, Thanks for bringing them back.
Great video! Love the piano music you chose for it too...
Glad you liked it!
love this location
me too!
OMG even the weather is the same just like in the movie! 🤣
apart from joke, I'm very glad to find this video as I'm really interested in movie locations just like you.

Glad you enjoyed it!

Great video. I was in Hope a few years back but only saw Timmies for breakfast. Had no idea the town was all Rambo geared up.
The sheriff was actually doing Rambo a favor he was trying to get him out of Canada and its high taxes and cost of living
A great video. I just rode through Hope and it was rather cool. I should've taken the time and visited a couple of the locations you showed... Thank you
I admire American directors. A few houses crosswise, but the shots were shot in such a way that the locations seemed to be larger towns. And my childhood idea of the USA is actually Canada.
One of my all time favorites! Thanks for your work! 😎👍🏼
Awesome video, magical town, magical movie... The weather couldn't have been more perfect for this video either!
Hey buddy, good to see you here!
I got super lucky with the weather. It definitely created the First Blood feel!
I was born in 82 Rambo first blood and Terminator 2 will always be my favorites
Excellente vidéo, le piano m'a transporté à la fin, merci. Bonjour de la France. ❤
What a film, First Blood !!!
Thanks for the video
I fly around Hope in Flight Simulator aall the time, the town is generic scenery but the mountains are so beautiful.
thank you so much for bringing back our childhood memories
Greetings from Japan. I would love to visit that city someday. I saw the first Rambo movie on TV when I was in elementary school. It is still the best movie I have ever seen✨
Beautiful landscape and town.
Thanks for watching!
The journey began over forty years ago when I was standing in front of the cinema and unfortunately wasn't allowed in because of the age rating 😝 and is still going 😂 - Rambo was influential - thanks for the impressions 👏 and many greetings from Frankfurt Germany - Tommy 😊
this is a really cool town, i mean the weather, mountain, what a place to live in
Very well done! Thanks! I’m in chicago, so I always get a kick out of boring my family pointing out locations from movies filmed here. Only place I’ve ever sought out on a vacation was the park and Sts. Peter and Paul church from Dirty Harry in San Francisco in 2015
Thanks for watching!
Wow! They own it up with the statues!
That's awesome!
Epic! I need to get here some day.
Magic of little towns under mountains. I like this kind of movies.
These filming locations was by hope town in Canada? Right
Great video mate, captured the atmosphere really well
Thanks a lot!
you are not weird for going to that location just because of First Blood movie location, because I would have done that too :-)
And you are not the only one who saw that movie a million times 🙂
Love your commentary on location of the classic RAMBO first blood.!
My favorite movie EVER!!!!🥺🥺😭 Thank you so much man!!!!
Muchas gracias por llevarnos de viaje a estas locaciones de Rambo First Blood que de otra manera seria muy dificultoso y costoso para algunos de nosotros! 😊
Thank you so much for taking us to those places. Huge and amzing rememberance to this outstanding movie! Cheers from Germany, Tommy
