Of all the versions of Night and Day out there.....THIS one...feels like the SOUL of Cole Porter. Every look and nuance, the whole arrangement..evokes the real essence of the song. bravo "old Hollywood"..and of course Cary Grant, always a class act.
WOW!That piano playing they sure knew how to play the instruments in those days and this version I just love night and day thanks for downloading Carlos Meza Ferrdas
Monty Woolley must have been laughing to himself all throughout this movie - I've seen some of the letters he and Cole Porter exchanged in college, and they were definitely way WAY more than "Just friends."
A introdução dessa versão de Night and Day lembra (e muito) o Samba de uma nota só. Será que o tom jobim "inspirou-se" nesse filme para "compor" a música?
Class, Class, Class, the music, actors, women dripping in minks and jewels, gorgeous scenery. The difference between this movie and De-Lovely or De-Trashy I call it, is that it is a beautiful, uplifting movie that alludes to Cole's private life but doesn't make it the focus. The ending when Cole goes outside to Linda, we see by his lack of kiss and in his eyes that he loves her but not romantically. The new movie focuses on nothing but Cole's private life and it make him out to be pure trash. I prefer this one.
I'd give anything to go back in time to see the expression on both Cole & Linda's face watching this farce. Can you imagine watching your life story on the big screen only to find it's been completely sanitized & whitewashed? Well, I'm sure the two of them had a good laugh at least. lol
OCD Cary made the making of the movie a near trauma for all parties concerned--it ran millions over budget and made Jack Warner's hair go grayer (before he dyed it brown). For all the troubles, it did make some money. And the Porters were pleased at this sanitized version of Cole's life. All mention of Cole being gay were exised of course.
Strange ending….considering Porter and his wife split…she left him…couldn’t stand his rabid promiscuous homosexual lifestyle. But for anyone who doesn’t know the truth, this is certainly a beautiful ending. And it would be unfair if I didn’t credit Porter with having composed some of the most beautiful music & songs anyones ever heard. Peace to all their souls now.
one of the most wonderful movies I've ever enjoyed a real tear jerker I love the music and dancing but I think Cole should have married Benny Sims she was more into the music not Linda

Golly cry me eyes out no matter how many times I see this. The Music tops any version ever in grace and beauty.
I cannot look at this scene without crying.
That is an incredible ending! The choir is fantastic!
I loved all the music in this movie. Carry Grant played his part so well as Cole Porter.

Grant is so handsome and debonair -- it should be illegal.

Hurt me 🎉
Com essa explosão todos estariam mortos.
Actually Cole Porter wrote that song FOR Cary Grant!💔

Cole did see it.
Why did she do it!?
What is UP with Cary Grant's face in the last shot? Like... he hates her?
Cary was thinking of Randolph Scott…
film ,art, all forms were meant to be "over the top"- bigger than life itself------thats whats lacking--realism doesnt cut it...
the ending is very artificial--all that was needed was the music.

Hokey ending and not at all biographically accurate.
Cary Grant is miscast in this movie, unfortunately. He is weird at the piano too.
Vecchia Hollywood non ha rivali❤
