- BPMN, formally Business Process Model and Notation is one of the most widely used methods for business process mapping and flowcharting. In this tutorial, I discuss process mapping using the BPMN 2.0 method including the main elements of the BPMN notation, BPMN rules, and best practices, as well as a case study for the BPMN example!.
A process map (flowchart) is a tool that graphically shows the inputs, actions, and outputs of a business process or workflow in a visually simple map of the process. The purpose of process mapping is to help teams understand the workflow during process analysis. Business Process Model and Notation is a process modeling notation created to standardize the graphical representation of business procedures, transactions, and business collaborations. It is becoming the standard notation for process management.

A business process map describes the sequential workflow of an organization or team. Business analysts use BPMN:
- To describe the context of the solution or part of the solution,
- To describe what actually happens, or is desired to happen, during a process,
- To provide an understandable description of a sequence of activities to an observer,
- To provide a visual to accompany a text description, and
- To provide a basis for process analysis.

The rigor and specification is invaluable. In my experience, I have not encountered a conforming BPMN diagram as BAs usually don't follow the rules and best practices. So this guide helps folk depict business processes accurately, clearly and concisely. Wonderful content. 10 out of 10

Is bmp and bmpn the same?
No. BPM refers to business process management, which is a broader concept that involves activities for optimizing and re-engineering existing business processes. BPMN, on the other hand, is a specific business process modeling notation, with it's own set of rules and standards. BPMN can be used as one of the means to facilitate the execution of BPM. But many notations can be used such as BPMN, UML, or IDEF. I hope that helps.

I think your process map (last in the video) is wrong based on BPMN 2.0 standards. You should check it

Every pool needs at least 1 start event and 1 end event. It must be possible to reach at least one end event in the same pool from each start event (of the same Pool) via a continuous sequence flow. Every activity must have at least 1 incoming and 1 outgoing sequence flow. There are must not be dead ends following the sequence flow. Message flows can’t be used to transfer the sequence flow between pools (they are just for necessary communication between pools).
That are just a few annotations imho.
