Cant beat a good tapering metal bracelet with micro adjustment on the fly. NATO's and rubber, it's either too loose or too tight. I rarely get a good fit without micro adjustment.
I mean the nato is the best way to secure a watch. Even if one spring bar fails or break, the watch will still stay on the wrist. Main reason why they were used during wars
My question is if this strap requires you to remove a spring bar anyway, it doesn't pass below the watch so you don't get the"flush" look of a NATO strap, and you don't get any extra insurance in case of failed spring bars... why not just buy a regular old 2 piece nylon strap instead of this? There are at least 2 advantages of the Nato strap that are lost to make it a zero pass in this design: 1. Watch safety when the spring bar fails 2. Ease of installing the strap itself For the needs of a dashing appearance in a spoiled urban life, this is very tolerable, but not for the needs of survival in the wild
Criticism of the NATO strap is totally unjustified. Cutting the extra strap or reworking the strap like shown here defeats the purpose of keeping the watch away from the wrist to allow ventilation and lessen sweating. Also the watch can be stowed by reverse looping and it provides substantial cover for the front and back of the watch when kept with other items in the bag or pocket. It's the ultimate utilitarian strap.
The biggest benefit of a nato strap is that even if one spring bar fails the watch is still attached to the arm. This was the original use of the nato strap. The best watch is useless if it falls from your wrist, especially in the dark or under water. That’s why a lot of military watches have no spring bars like the Tudor Pelagos FXD.
Or you could just wear the watch on a bracelet. Or buy a single pass nato strap. Putting a watch on should be something easy you don’t have to think about. This would get old after 3 days
