[random historical note] The inventor (whose name I’m forgetting at the moment, apologies) created it for his wife who had been a concert violinist but could no longer play due to severe arthritis- the lack of physical contact/force the theramin affords allowed her to continue making music…
Thank you very much for the informational assist- my brain is great at storing massive amounts of extraneous minutiae while simultaneously going error:404 with the most important information, haha…. Very much appreciated!
I am a theater actor in Russia (Bolshoi Drama Theater named after Tovstonogov, St. Petersburg). we are playing a theatrical production by Elizaveta Bam based on the play by Daniil Kharms. There we use the theremin as the main instrument to achieve "parallel dimension". In order to learn how to play a small fragment on it, I studied for 4 months almost without days off. But it was worth it - now I can almost hit the notes. It is one of the most magical and technologically superior musical instruments in existence.
Carpool tunnel after years of doing that with your hands especially long periods I would think , but if you drink 2% milk straight from touching the cow it will help build strong bones
My guitar teacher in school who single-handedly made the whole guitar course and is still adding more things like electric guitars in it has one of these in the class
I went to go see black flag one time and Greg Ginn who is a legendary Punk jazz fusion guitar player. He pulled this thing out and disappointed absolutely everybody. 😢
i want to learn to play theramin sadly i don’t have the attention span to do that. i like instruments where you can’t play every single semitone in between notes lol
It takes a very trained ear, the ability to hold your hand an arm still and effect the dynamics with your other arm... You can also use an expression pedal... And use your other arm to effect a vibrato.
That's the most control and musicality I've ever seen on a theramin. It can be a beautiful instrument
Any instrument can be beautiful if you play it right (:
Pretty sure she literally reinvented the playing techniques and hers and now commonly used instead!
May roosevelt is an excellent player at the theremin as well
The quality of the theremin sound depends heavily on the quality of it's modulation circuit as well
I think the theramin is the best musical analog to the practice of being a wizard
@@enriqueamaya3883what?
Imma get one to be a wizard

This thing would make your pitch really good
Honestly, I fell in love with the theremin.
Vsauce: Hold my books
His expression say it all😍

I've got a Moog Theremini that I really need to practice playing on. It's a fun little instrument.
I imagine this is super hard to learn , but I want one
I’m in love with her
reminds me of a pedal steel guitar
Estuve en un concierto de Violeta Eyck y fue excelente! Lo disfruté mucho, es increíble todas las posibilidades que ofrece el instrumento.
I sold my Theremin as i hadn't touched it in years

Let's just mention Jimmy Page and Whole Lotta love here.
How the heck does it work???
What's the name of the music or the song ??
Look like eva elf to me
He's not touching anything though so how is she making the music?
It's like a conductor conducting a 👻 with no stick.
I don’t care who it is. Someone needs to make a song out of the bit she played somehow.
I need a well paid job where i do *not* touch anything...😊
For the unaware: That was only a joke, i like to work. Especially with wood and metal.😍

What an odd instrument to decide to become an expert at. Even when sounding it’s best it’s still a big jarring.
It doesn't take much to master by the way
