Per Wikipedia: "The recipient (of the Premier League Player of the Year) is chosen by a panel assembled by the league's sponsors consisting of members of "football's governing bodies, the media and fans", and is announced in the second or third week of May." , That explains why the award ends of up where ends up; in the last 6 seasons the award has gone twice to a Liverpool player and 4 times to Man City. Per me, (a Liverpool fan): Of course Watkins should get the award. And really it isn't even close; Ollie has been brilliant (and an absolute delight to watch).

Watkins is definitely in the running especially IF he finishes the season well. Its been nice to hear others outside of the club touting Watkins too.
I’m aware that there is such a thing as ‘brand Rashford’ for Utd (how and why, I don’t know….) … but I wonder how much of a brand booster Ollie might be for Villa. He’s incredibly talented, good looking, charismatic and exudes confidence. Certainly if he features in the Euros I can see him drawing significant new support to the club.

Top goal contribution should get the Platinum Ball
Watkins could end up top scorer and top in the assist table too, yet weirdly there are still some out there who doubt his place in the Euro squad.

With so many ridiculous penalties being given for handballs etc, i think its an injustice for players like OW. Theyre being handed easier chances from the spot. Golden boot for open play goals and a silver boot for a combination of both would be fairer

Seriously, whether it's manager of the year or player of the year, who gives a monkeys what the corrupt 'football governing bodies' or the biased 'media' think. As for 'fans', they're hardly neutral. I don't think our own estimation depends on that or even whether Ollie is picked for England. It matters to Ollie and that's important but if he's not gonna get any service cz England is inflexibly built around Harry Kane there's hardly any point. Just gives the gutter press more crap to print. I couldn't value him more. UTFV
He won't get it even though he deserves to be in the running. The usual suspects will be put on their fake pedestals. Haaland,De bruyne, Foden, Palmer,Rice,Toney etc More likely they'll give it to Kane even though he's not in the Prem anymore, the bias is that bad 😂💜💙
