I had one of these puppies bavk in the 80's...amazing little bass, with a potent sound. I had 2 other Kramers back in the day, a DMZ5000 and DMZ4000.....killer basses.
andrew wood, singer for mother love bone, played a kramer duke in his first band, malfunkshun. one cool thing about the duke is that it doesn't require special strings with ball ends.
The Duke probably has a similar neck to my Koa Kramer 450B. Aluminum neck, Walnut inserts with a phenolic composite f/b. The Steinberger L2 series all composite basses took NAMM by storm in 81' or 82'. Geddy used one briefly. Sting as well.
From what I remember about the original Kramers was that they had aluminum necks. At the same time you could purchase a Travis Bean which also had aluminum necks. But the difference was that the Kramer necks had wooden inserts. This was because some felt that the completely aluminum necks felt cold. Now these guitars also had traditional 3 on a side headstocks unlike the bass Roberto is playing. But if it is similar to the original designs it probably is a combination of aluminum and wood.
Those basses were kind of a mini Steinberger, using Kramer aluminum braced neck tech. In lieu of the Steinberger folding leg brace (for seated playing), they glued a rubbery lined strip onto the bottom bout of the body, which worked great until it fell off. Steinbergers also have a plastic plate that rotates out from the back, with a strap button on it, which helped eliminate neck dive. But my Kramer balances out on the strap OK even without such a device (that button is on a neck plate screw).
I bought one of these when they came out. Fun to play but always had tuning issues. Also bought a Kramer 8 string bass with aluminum neck same issues with tuning. Got rid of both of them.
Roberto can ask where that Kramer bass was when he was living here in New York and traveling on the subway. There were a few times when I did a busking gig with somebody who had the bass rendition of the Speedster that Michael played.
WYRON (Would you rock or not?) You wouldn't catch me dead playing that guitar. 🤣It looks like something a Japanese idol band would play. On the other hand I wish Gibson would bring back the aluminum neck Kramers.
New #Gibson x #JimmyPage Signature Guitar collaboration announced today at the Grand Opening of the #GibsonGarage in #London. First up is the Gibson EDS-1275 Doubleneck. #Stairway2Heaven Sooo stoked.
GOOD things can come in SMALL packages! ML & Roberto rock.
Classic bass!
Roberto quickly became one of my favorite bass players after seeing him at Norm's a few times.
Is thumpin’ Thurs. already? Boy....time flies....here we go....🎸👍
Roberto ! Nice thumpin' bass lines. I bet J.P. would get a kick out of it. And Lemmo gets the travel guitar sounding a lot bigger than it looks.🎉
THIS is one hell of a slick demo fellas! Some truly unique instruments - THANKS!

lots of fun, made me happy, thanks

80s Kramers are my favorite guitars. Would love to see some more Kramers at Norm’s!
I have two Kramers and I love them so much. Such an underrated brand, you get way more for your dollar compared to guitars of the same price range.
Carbon Fiber has actually been around since the 1800s, but back then it was mostly used for filaments in the first light bulbs.
Roberto should be on tour. Roberto is truly a fascinating player
He just finished a tour with David Benoit!
@@JackRSherman007 thank you
Awesome! I swear Lemmo could make a tennis racket sound good.

Excelente! Ese bajo suena….

Very cool! Other than the "T" neck frame, Dukes were made of common woods. They just felt plastic due to the typical 80s thick poly finish
Very handy to have an axe when riding the subways - even a yellow one:))

That was great Mike.😉
Wow,was that ever cool,Well Done.

Did my first album with a Duke!
Nobody lost their heads in the making of this video.
Lemmo has the Speedster arm rest backwards! I got a red one and it’s great 👍
The Kramer bass is pretty cool. But I'd be REALLY impressed by a genuine Steinberger L series bass. I know you guys at Norm's can dig one up!
Too farty sounding
@@ersatz723Yeah, but I actually enjoy a nice farty sound, now and then 😋

My guess is the switch would be series/parallel/single coil
el kabong!... Look up Quick Draw McGraw for reference lol

Then don’t watch the videos. The videos are free and no one is forcing you to watch.
Jen is a new mother? A collective congrats to Jen from all her fans here on UA-cam.

I think the Traveler's armrest is on backwards. I could be wrong.
