I'm certain of one thing in this life: no matter if you didn't see this movie as a child nor if you haven't seen it yet, this piece will always sound like your childhood
Beautiful saying! It sounds like a ton of happy, interesting, magical things under the eyes of me as a child. I rarely have that kind of feeling as an adult
Sadly, my childhood was nowhere near as wonderful and nostalgic as this music sounds to other people. The music makes me miss a childhood that I never had. However, as an adult, that does not prevent me from enjoying the music now and wish I could change the past.
The return of this beautiful piece gave me an emotion that I felt like I wouldn't have been able to return to. The pure nostalgia and Euphoria this gives me allows me to believe that there is still hope out there in 2020 despite all that's happening. Even in these moments, if we still find a reason to smile, than humanity hasn't lost all hope yet. We can be the light under all the darkness that has come through simple things, but through music is where we can all understand each other. Rise up, as there is always a light in darkness awaiting. May we hope for another tomorrow and live everyday is it is our last. Be a Friend, no matter who it may be around you.
As a film student friend of mine said... usually when a movie is sad and hopeless in the middle section, the ending tends to be very happy. I’d like to believe there’s a chance of that still. Stay strong
Terima kasih, semoga Anda juga memiliki hidup yg bahagia, sehat dan sejahtera selalu bersama keluarga dan orang orang terdekat. salam hangat dari Indonesia 🙂👋
This is so beautiful. Imagine you were in countryside then you smell the freshly washed trees from last night rainfall. The flowers begin to bloom and the sound of birds singing. The sun starts to swallow the fog. You stretch your arms, then you breathe. You inhale the freshness of freedom. Like a brand new life.
@@Roh0io why do you think it? I am not admitting it, but I am just curious. Other guy menthioned Rachmaninoff too, so I wonder what they have similar in thier works, or maybe partitura, or bigger chords for piano, like more than octavs interval or?
It is really amazing how i can hear every instrument of the orchestra in this music. Like every instrument have something to say, something to add to the conversation and the result is very beautiful and interesting. I cannot even imagine how hard it had to be to write a music like this masterpiece (Sorry for my bad english) Love from France
Here I am, at 2:55am, smiling in the dark of my room. I was feeling a bit down and bad thoughts were running in my mind. Then I saw this video and I'm so glad I did. It reminded me of the light-hearted feeling of the movie and I was cheered up by the video. A masterpiece. Thank you for bringing a huge smile to my face.😊
I always watch Totoro when I'm having a really really bad day, and I when I can't fall asleep. There's something so soothing about it. It feels like getting a hug from your mom, not really something I got to experience as a kid, but I have to think that that movie is the closest thing to the experience.
Perhaps you have been hugged by a few moms, not necessarily a biological mom. I hope you will get many hugs from genuine friends, partners, non-biological parents. Start by giving hugs to those who need one, and don't forget to give one to yourself, daily.
This is my absolute FAVORITE arrangement of this piece! It brings so much joy and passion into the song even without the lyrics to accompany it. It never fails to get me up off my feet and pretending to be an orchestra conductor.
I was meeting extended new inlaws with kids once so of course I brought Totoro. After they watched it they spent the weekend humming along while they explored. Watching two sisters making their own Totoro soundtrack while they ran around a forest made me love the movie all over again.
These visuals are amazing, I love how you have become so active in contributing the arts during a time where so many people need comfort and inspiration. Thank you for playing a vital role to many of us around the world
Je ne sais pas comment décrire cette chanson : a chaque fois que je l'écoute je pleure mais elle représente toute min enfance/toute ma vie. Totoro restera le meilleur film de tout les temps pour moi
I miss Totoro!! When I was a kid one day my dad got home from work with a huge Totoro doll it's pretty strong memory cuz it was the first and last doll that I have ever gotten..
These visuals are killing me argh. Don't even get me started on the music -- so heavenly! Every piece lifts my soul onto the currents of the symphony amplifying emotions until they paint a blurry scenery of what my paradise looks like.
I think my favorite scene in any Studio Ghibli movie is when Mei chases the tinier forest spirits and they first introduce the Totoro theme/leitmotif! ❤️
joe hisaishi's music is like pure bliss. the complex and soothing notes blend together so well. his music is pure joy but also sad. one of the best composers our time. thank you for releasing this blessing of ears to us during a time like this !!
Such a fun piece of music! Just bursting with energy and wonder. The time-lapse video of growing sprouts and blooming flowers is perfectly matched to the music. It is completely appropriate, too, since Totoro is a forest spirit who makes things grow. Beautiful!
Ghibli Studio connects us to nature and its way of redemption while Joe Hisaishi's musical score creates deeper meaning of life and the world we are living. Cheers to the both! After all, we are human and we must protect nature and humanity for this is our purpose of driven life.
Oh my god. There aren't words to express how this video makes me feel !!! Wonderfull !! I have to disagree. My childhood was absolutely terrible.
Sadly, my childhood was nowhere near as wonderful and nostalgic as this music sounds to other people. The music makes me miss a childhood that I never had. However, as an adult, that does not prevent me from enjoying the music now and wish I could change the past.

Joe Hisaishi your music makes me feel happy, sad and nostalgic at the same time. Thank you for making us feel all these emotions, your art is beautiful.
Hisaishi-San is master of his art.
I don't get it. I saw my first Ghibli film only about a year and a half ago, yet all of Hisaishi's music makes me feel incredibly nostalgic.
