Mate great video if people are just starting out resin is a minefield. One thing I would add is like you said amazing clear cast is food safe as a clear resin but that may change if people add dyes or mica powders to it. Looking forward to the next one mate top job 👍🏻
This has been incredibly helpful. Very very well explained. I've never used resins before, but I'm interested in using it to make heels (high heels). I intend to make two types: Heels that will be covered with leather and clear heels that will have decorative elements within. The cured resin must be strong enough to support body weight and drillable. Can you make any recommendations? Thanks again. I will be checking out your other videos on the subject.
It depends where you are based not all brands are available everywhere. I would go for epoxy resin rather than poly as its easier to work with. Resin will harden very much but not all resins may be suitable for your application. You need to find one that is not brittle when it hardens. That should be in a technical sheet of the resin but I would also ask the manufacturer for that info. I have not used all the resins out there and there is a massive choice. I can recommend resins from Resin Pro - link in the description. They do have a wide range but I would probably go for the deep pour ones 5cm or even 10cm. They will cure longer but they are more or less self degassing, however a bit of help from resin pressure pot would make them perfect.
I want to do 5 of my daughter’s wedding bouquets that are now 4 weeks dried. I read I can do the epoxy and resin to preserve and even gain color in some instances. The resin and epoxy are not equivalent in measurement? My plan is to quickly dip and hang the flowers upside down but will the liquid be too thick to dip the bouquets? I will do this outdoor with low humidity and temp 74 degrees US. I appreciate your thoughts of my first time attempt. 😅
I don't think it will work like that unfortunately. Most likely you will ruin the flowers. You can do a pour, make a block of resin and flowers inside. Epoxy is a type of resin.
You’re so knowledgeable! I wonder if you’re able to point me in the right direction: safe resin for pet food & water bowls?? I’ve searched & searched (UK) and none the wiser... Much appreciated 👍🌸
Hmm I don't think any resin is recommended for that use. Check out ResinPro I know they got resin that is safe to come in contact with food. If all the FDA approvals.
Would have expected a comparison on these different types of resins. How clear, price difference etc. Just ordered ResinPro and soon will get GlassCast. So far haven't found one I would be totally satisfied with. The main issue is with transparent very thick casting seems yellowish.
I thought about that but then the video would be too long. It's long as it is now but it's a good thing that you mentioned that, I will try to do a video on in Series 2👍 glasscast should give you crystal clear casting same as resinpro👍
Do u have a advise for me . I make my resin art in the garden and store it in garden because i was told its not safe to keep it in door as i have kids . How can i keep it warm do it cures in the garden
I can't imagine how you could do this in the garden. Starting with unpredictable moisture levels in the air, wind, potential dust, dirt getting to your casting and keeping the temperature right about 20-23 degrees Celsius. You would need some sort of a large tent with heating I can imagine. Difficult job I have to say.
Hi I am considering a small business idea with Epoxy from my mums garage in England, one of my main concerns is the temperature. Have you considered a thermostat controlled heat mat that you can rest the mould on as it cures? They are used in vivariums for exotic animals and also underfloor heating. I was thinking as the heat source comes from the bottom up it could even assist in getting rid of bubbles?
Hmm that could be problematic. It could speed up the curing time of your resin🤔 its an interesting thing to explore tho. Let me know how you get on with that. I do see few issues with that but you don't know how well it will work until you try it
@@CasualDIY I will give it a try as im worried the garage won't hold enough heat to keep it to within the range! Ill let you know if it works when I get my materials, thanks for the info and great videos!
Hi Tomasz, Looking at the glasscast 10/50 safety information as an example, it says no odour and no vocs but also says to avoid breathing the fumes/vapours. So are any of the resins safe to use with just gloves or are they all bad?
I appreciate ur video, i am new in this, i want to go into production of roof rack rail end cover in a car, and it is plastic, which resin would be suitable for the production process.thanks
Thanks for the videos. I’m in the U.K. and new to this so your videos have been very helpful. My question is: is there a particularly good mould release that you use? And can it be purchased in the U.K. I’m using silicon moulds with epoxy resin. Thanks you
Hi, Thank you for watching my videos👍 Yes you can find something really good that I was using here houseofresin.co.uk/macwax-mould-release-spray-400ml/
You can use any resin you want, you just need to check if it will withstand heat from a cup if you make coasters. Just check the information sheets that comes with your resin.
so i have the Amazing clear cast and reads to just mix in equal amounts but i listened to what was mentioned in ur video, now i just use in for small objects i use the silicone molds with the half circles, or small round balls, etc, what you suggest? or advise? you think i thought still mix on equal amounts? i do not have a digital scale or wouldn't know how to use it? well, hopefully, you can help out a Lad ty for ur video.
Hi, this resin has a mixing ratio of 1:1 by volume, not by weight. Check this link for the technical sheet www.alumilite.com/resins/amazing-clear-cast/
@@CasualDIY yes ty now i know not all Resins would work well with certain pigments, like Alcohol ink i need to find out which brand would work best for that type of ink pigment, thanks you much found lots of good info in ur video.

But for some reason if that's not there then it will be on the website you bought it from in the description of the product.
Hi Im from the uk too, Ive just bought DIPONDE Epoxyplast 100P (A) , it didn't come with any instructions, I haven't used resin before, do you think this will be ok? I want to do things like making moulds / resin trays / resin wood and canvases , can you please tell me how I should use this resin , Also could you tell me what would be the best resin for me to use for the things I said above. Thank you 😊
Every resin has it's own specifications unfortunately. There is no one solution fits all unfortunately. I never heard about this resin. If I was you I would try to get the specifications for this resin from the manufacturer
Hi, I mostly use resin from ResinPro. They got a great selection with very good prices. In this video description you will find a link to their website and 10% off code. Check it out it's very good. And they got everything you would need for resin casting. They ship to most European countries and even the shipping costs are very low.

Thank you. Yes it's all coming in the future videos👍 but I'll give you some info on Royal Palm resin. The unique feature is that it's viscosity is close to waters. Even part A is very fluid and after mixing is like water. That means it will penetrate moulds and castings easly and the air bubbles can escape with ease do no need for a pressure pot 👍
