- The Kawasaki Ki-45 Toryu (屠龍, "Dragonslayer") was a two-seat, twin-engine heavy fighter used by the Imperial Japanese Army in World War II. The army gave it the designation "Type 2 Two-Seat Fighter" (二式複座戦闘機, Ni-shiki fukuza sentōki); the Allied reporting name was "Nick". Originally serving as a long-range escort-fighter, the design - as with most heavy fighters of the period - fell prey to smaller, lighter, more agile single-engine fighters. As such, the Ki-45 instead served as a day and nighttime interceptor and strike fighter.
This particular diecast model is another one from DeAgostini and is in 1:72nd scale of the Kawasaki Ki-45 Type 2 Toryu "Nick".

Use of any images or video in any of my reviews is used out of pure respect in regard to units and/or actual people. I wish to acknowledge all those that have served past and present with their respective nations armed forces with some making the ultimate sacrifice. Political ideals aside, it takes great courage and selflessness to answer your countries call.
Cheers

One of my favorite planes
@@guaporeturns9472 haha well your model choice selection is very limited with this one 🤣
Thanks for the great video!👍 I need this model.
Glad you got some use out of the video, appreciate the view and feedback!! Thanks for watching and happy hunting for your own!!
Ótimo modelo! é Incomum e bonito.👍
Yes not the most common WW2 Japanese plane. You wont find many manufacturers that will make this in diecast!!
1:43 That's not a knife, that's a knife
@@swimbo and I have only ever cut myself once in video 🤣 when I bled over the WLTK F-117 🤣
As you say very unlikely anyone would make this - it is a good rendering of quite a streamlined aircraft and for those wanting Japanese aircraft or those less well known this is good for gap filling and comparison. Oxford Diecast also did make a cheaper range of less well known aircraft but have been quiet of late. Their Walrus was superb.
@@peterhewson3216 DeAgostini do make some obscure diecast, which is great and some can be very well done. This one's ok, the panel lines won't be too everyone's liking as the inking is very heavy, especially on such a light coloured aircraft. I do have a Walrus in the Oxford Blue Box range, one of my earliest videos, haha. I may eventually redo some earlier videos as they weren't that good, haha. I have a few Oxford Blue Box range models and they a great. I on my buy there Green box range of aircraft with fixed landing gear as in the green box's you don't get gear down options 🤣 Blue box range you get gear down at least 🤣
@@heavymetaldiecast must check that vid out. Got to have care in unboxing the Walrus in case you "de-wing" it. I think a video was produced that showed you how to do it safely.
@@peterhewson3216 Its a video waaaay back in my list, Near the start. When I used to do them outside and I was so nervous I spoke really weirdly, well more weird than normal 🤣. It was one from Operation Torch I think.
Yeah nice model it is a shame not rear gunner gun on the back I would of thought that would of been added but sadly is removed.
@@SniperDash Yes I thought the same, I'm going with its in the stowed position inside the cockpit, haha
@@heavymetaldiecast good idea lol 😆
It’s a lovely shape - you know I love a heavy fighter!! 😅
No rearward-firing gun is a disappointment.
Is that a big cannon (offset) under the nose?
@@shinra2755 Yes some were equipped with either a 20mm or 37mm canon under the belly. Yeah I noticed no rear MG, figured it's been stowed away in the cockpit, haha. But she is no 110 😉
@@heavymetaldiecast Thanks for the clarification 🙏
