    Large calorie deficit for a short period of time vs. a smaller calorie deficit for a longer period of time for your average powerlifter

      Not just calories in the short term - food weight/volume will be more important than just calories in this time period.

    what are some things you do during a cut between cycles or after a meet to preserve strength?

    • @drmarcmethod
      @drmarcmethod 6 років тому +12

      Keep lifting, Cole! The most anticatabolic thing you can do is lift to preserve muscle and keep protein in an optimal range. Outside of that, don't overthink things and keep punching the clock.

    Bryce, can you talk about deadlift setup while using straps? The positioning hasn't felt quite right to me while I'm strapped to the bar.

    I'm 3 pounds too heavy and 5 days out from weigh ins, 6 days out from lifting. I gotta make top 3 to qualify for state.

      @@TheAuthorizedJay I did end up making weight and I got 3rd place out of 24 lifters but I didnt qualify bc there were other people from all over the state that beat me. They only take top 10 in each weight class.

    Hey Bryce, I am 16 years old, currently hovering around 165 lbs (morning weight) I am around 15% body fat. I am planning to compete in sub junior soon. Should I be trying to maintain my weight to make the 74 kg class (with cut) or slowly try to gain weight to be competitive in the 83 kg class?

    Woe! I didn't know that fibre in your system makes you weigh more? I eat soo much fibre dude dang haha... I don't get it tho? I thought fibre makes stuff through you faster?

    • @quincyvandeursen4060
      @quincyvandeursen4060 2 роки тому +1

      There are two types of fibre: insoluble and soluble. The insoluble helps with satiety and a healthy bowel. The soluble fibre makes a gell like substance, which also helps to keep you stomach full.
      I think you hold more Weight when eating fibre becuase the soluble fibre attracts water. On top of that you "store" the food in your stomach a bit longer becusse of the gell like fibre.
      Fibre is a crucial part of a healthy diet, in The Netherlands the recommended intake is atleast 30grams. Most people dont even come near that amount.

      Life Of Lawrence nope. Youre not eating any carbs. That isnt sustainable long term. If you live in the usa you should meet with a nurtitionist and discuss it with them.

      Keto isn't a magical diet for fat loss....calories in vs calories out is what matters when it comes to weight loss. Carbs are good, don't let people fill your head with nonsense. Moderation and carb choices is the key.

    • @bigboii1150
      @bigboii1150 6 років тому

      Ben Blue most certainly. I used to use keto diet to cut weight to make weight for fights. It appears to be magical that i could cut 8lbs of fate in 2 days with keto bit its really unhealthy to fo that. When i would eat keto it would be strictly carnivorous diet, i would only eat chicken breast, new york steaks and drink milk so there was sugar but a nominal amount. You retain muscle mass but it should NOT be used to loose weight over time because it is unhealthy and uneffectove for sustainable weight loss

      Carb timing I have also found is massive help, carbs are you best, fastest energy source. use it or your body stores it as fat. So keep like 80% of your Carbs to within 2 hours either side of your work outs, (even have some during a long work) then a little before bed to help sleep. much better for your blood sugar levels, and performance than having carbs all day. There is no bad food, just a bad diet.
