How did you manage to get in such a good position for the video? What time u went there, to reserve your own private best place? Best wishes Sebastian
Thank you Sebastian. You need to be at the Marina Bay area by 7pm if you want to get a reasonable position to take photo or video. Come earlier if you want the better spots. By about 9pm, the whole place will be cordoned off to prevent overcrowding. The spot that I chose was to the right side with the Esplanade Theatres behind me. This spot is no longer there as they have built a bridge linking the Esplanade to the Merlion Park. I will recce for a new position this year. For me, 5 hrs is worth the wait. How about you? There will be an even bigger & better firework display on August 9 - Singapore's 50th National Day.
CM Chen 5 hrs waiting is no problem! So I hope I'm gonna catch a nice spot if I am there by 7pm. I won't be in Singapore for the 50th National Day. But every New Years Eve I'm trying to see a defferent city. So I'm ready for 2015, 2016 ... ;-)
It has something to do with the time zones difference between Singapore and the US. I uploaded the video in the early morning of Jan 1st, 2014, while it was still night time on Dec 31, 2013 in the US. I think UA-cam follows the US clock time. Cheers!
The best spots to see the Countdown Fireworks would be anywhere along the Esplanade waterfront. The nearer the floating platform, the better. However, the best spot to film it would be to the right, near the Esplanade Theatres. Hope that helps.
Singapore's 50th "Birthday" falls on August 9, 2015. No details are available yet as it's still early. I suppose Jun - Aug will be a great time to visit. If you are keen to view or record the fireworks - be prepared to come a few hrs early to "claim" your spot. Also be prepared to spend about an hr, just to get out from the area as you will be swamped by a sea of people, all trying to exit at the same time. You will enjoy it if you have patience and come with the right expectations.
