The fact that UHF is playing in the background is amazing. Such a great movie! My 11 year old and 13 year old both recognized it. (I taught them young) Super simple, but cool project.
I really think you should be called “The Epicurean”. You have such a love of life and maximizing pleasure in so many ways from sculpting wood, creating music to racing go carts, etc. Who the hell carpets their wood shop? You do, because it’s not so much about being practical as it is about maximizing enjoyment of your time in the shop. You find learning and experiencing new things very enjoyable and that joy is very contagious to us watching your videos. Thank you and please keep doing what you do your own unique way.
I love that UHF is the most commented thing about this - my sister and I can still act out the entire movie from memory. Loved the project, but thanks for bringing back my childhood!
Nice fun project, easily approachable by anybody. That pinstripe detail is pretty sweet. And I'll jump on the bandwagon with the other UHF fans. It's a classic. Thanks for sharing!
The inlays really make it a nice custom build. Keep up the great work as the goal is for us to continue to inspire others to build something awesome! 👍🏼
When I got your latest book, this project stood out for me. Now that I’ve seen you make it, I’m more determined than ever to try it myself. Thank you for continuing to inspire me!!
Dave your videos are so professional, and your love for wood working comes through so well. Thanks for how hard you work at giving us all inspiration and great content
Как же приятно столярничать с хорошим оборудованием,когда есть возможность реализовать различные варианты соединений в работе с деревом. Отличная работа! Супер!
David, Last year for Christmas I made your Kleenex wooden holders for the family and they were a big hit. I will make some of these utensil holders this year. Heading off to your website to buy your book!
Hey David, thanks for making the video sequences on the table saw longer than on some other video's. I got a better sense of the hand motions and of your approach to each cut, plus I don't have to rewind 10 seconds to review. I guess it makes sense on more complicated projects to have smaller video sequences or they might end up too long, but I'd be tempted to split them into parts then... Although I don't know if you considered it and surmised a lesser engagement due to people wanting something complete in one video(or you). Food for thought! Cheers
Hey Dave, I'm just itching to hear you say "you can cut this with a coping saw, if you don't have a coping saw or a jigsaw you could just use your laser cutter" 😅
David, I also have tons of small pieces of wood I got from my hardwood supplier which I did not label. That piece looked like maybe padauk or cocbolo, but that would just be a guess. I have the book and this project is on my To Do list.
Thank you so much…. David, I love your channel. You guys are amazing! Long time sub here…. You are truly amazing at this UA-cam thing and you are an excellent teacher !! I’m always excited to see what you share with us every week. Just want you to know how much I appreciate you !! Thank you 🙏
At first I thought--he's watching Raiders of the Lost Ark--cool. But then I saw the next scene and realized he is watching UHF--awesome! One of my top five movies of all time.
Hey! I never noticed the flags! You have one from Brazil! That's where I'm from. (Rio de Janeiro originally). Nice video as always by the way. I want to try this project or something like it soon. Gus and Joyce, BG
This is basically how i make straight walled mugs. I appreciate the idea of the inlay. if i wanted a wider piece, like in your inlay video a while back, could i use the router for this?
David, just wanted to drop you a line and say i was disappointed by people's reaction when you posted the Pride flag on your Facebook page. Sorry that happened. Don't let them discourage you. Stick to your guns.
Dear Mr. Make Something,Very good video as usual! Have you thought about doing a video for each of the products you make. I would be more than happy to pay for a companion video. The video would not have to be to detail, maybe just some of the important parts. Just a thought. Best Regards, David J. Janis
Dunno if it's just me, but your book URL is showing errors and my ISP is flagging it as a potential threat... (I'm not saying you are, but there might be gremlins in the system somewhere)
Love seeing UHF in the background. All hail Weird Al!
Just call me Mr. Butterfingers.
I was just about to say the same thing
UHF is the Ultimate Classic 🤘🏼🤘🏼

Haha! Right?!
I'm following along in my copy of the book.
Excellent movie choice
Love that UHF is in the background. Fun fact. Rogers State University in Claremore, Oklahoma has a janitors closet dedicated to Weird Al
Hey Dave, I'm just itching to hear you say "you can cut this with a coping saw, if you don't have a coping saw or a jigsaw you could just use your laser cutter" 😅
Ha! 😎
Oh shit, I'm watching UHF tonight. Thanks for movie recommendation David! Lol

At first I thought--he's watching Raiders of the Lost Ark--cool. But then I saw the next scene and realized he is watching UHF--awesome! One of my top five movies of all time.
And that table saw gag with Emo Phillips was fantastic--love that it made a cameo!
Beautiful work, Dave! They look sweet! 😃
I'm definitely going to try something like that!
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Great video, well done as always. Very cool project. Mahalo for sharing! : )
You had me at "You don't need a lot of wood for this!" Great project!
WHEEL. OF. FIIIIIIIIIIIIIISH!!!!!

Damn that glued up TIGHT. I would be desperately rubbing saw dust into the joints and sweating while the glue reaches the point of no return 😅
Interesting magnetic stop block you have. Can you describe it more? Thanks, great video, just bought your book.
Can you share the link to the magnetic stop you had for your table saw?
UHF is a great movie
This gets the 'nch nch' seal of approval.
-Jerry
Where did you get your magnetic stop? I didn't see it in the supply list.
You get to drink....FROM THE FIREHOSE!!!!!!
I see in honor of the 4K release of the Indiana Jones movies you're watching... Wait a minute, that's not Harrison Ford... 😉
Ha! Classic!
2:19 Is that a young Kramer, from Seinfeld???
Haha! Are we watching you or Wierd Al and Emo Philips? UHF! Such a funny movie back then lol
Man... I saw Weird Al in the TV back there! lol
Skip the hole, add a handle and you have a nice beer stein.
If you get a chance go down to Lowell Ohio my dad will show you how to make musical instruments called the dulcimer
Did Camera Dan get the day off? Where’s the Bokeh?
I'm here!
Welcome!
Dave, I'm not seeing a referral link for the magnetic stop. Please link one!
Looks like a Magswitch. Do a quick search and check out their awesome stuff!
I keep watching UHF in the background.
is anyone else not really watching the video and just watching UHF in the background?
Obviously UHF is the better watch!
Hey David, any reason I can’t use 3/4” stock?
That’ll work as well
You missed a big opportunity here. Skip the drainage hole, add a handle and that would have made a killer beer mug.
Ha! Yes!!!
Интересно,что за масло для дерева? Для использования в пищевых целях? Для кухонной посуды,утвари?
Conan The Librarian- Don't you know the dewey decimal system!
whats the angle degree
72°
I think...it's on the floor...somewhere
WE DON'T NEED NO STINKING BADGERS!!!!
Don't drill the drainage hole in the bottom, add a handle, and that would be an awesome tankard to sell at a Ren Fair.
Totally misread your shirt as “Love Butter”
My table saw only gives a 45° angle and goes to de opposite side than yours. I’m confused
What are the dimensions of the pieces?
They're in the book! makesomething.com/product?category=Books
I'm thinking of something orange... something ooo-ooorange
Interstate
Dunno if it's just me, but your book URL is showing errors and my ISP is flagging it as a potential threat... (I'm not saying you are, but there might be gremlins in the system somewhere)
UHF!!
Sadly UHF does not hold up to the movie i remember seeing back then..
