I was pulling my hair out until I saw this video. I linked my bank accounts and then realized quickbooks never uploaded my expense from the entire month of January, it all only recorded my January sales, thanks again!!!
Glad it was helpful! If you have a huge chunk of missing transactions, you can also upload a CSV file. From the Banking page, go to the carrot dropdown next to Link Account, and you can upload a CSV file that way. I recommend using two columns for your CSV file. One for money coming in, the other for money going out, that just makes it easier to get the upload correct. Good luck!
This is a fairly common problem I see. Thanks for the vid. I keep having them dropping random transactions. Got to keep a tight eye on it. I've let it get out of control. Now have to add in a few hundred transactions. Again. Thanks for the vid.
If it's easier you could compile your missing transactions on a CSV file and then do a big file upload of the transactions. Might be faster. The method discussed in the video works well for one off transactions. Good luck!
@SmallBusinessSarah ty Sarah! Unfortunately I have hundreds and hundreds of transactions missing from about 3.5 months. It just boggles my mind that QB would not have an option in which you can "ask it" to relink to an account (my business bank account for ex.) during a specified time period?? Why isn't this a feature offered through QB. As you replied to the lady above would you recommend I do the same, compile all missing transactions on a CSV file and then do that file upload of the transactions? I sure appreciate you sharing that advice...but of course, I still don't know how to do that. Do you happen to have a video on that? Ugh....it sure is frustrating. Thank you for your wonderful information instruction.
Yes, I do reconcile these accounts once I have added the missing information. When you go to reconcile, the items you added won't initially be checked off. So scroll down, find the transactions you added, and then check the box so that everything does reconcile correctly.
Hi Sarah, great and helpful video. One question: there’s a discrepancy of $388+ for December 2023, I triple checked my bank statement made sure all transactions were accounted for, the date, beginning and ending balance is correct….so now what? Should I just click ‘Finish Now’ anyway? Thanks.
Hmm. That's unusual if you have checked everything. Sometimes it helps to use the info at the top of the reconciliation where it shows the deposit total figure then the expense total figure, so you can isolate where the mistake is. Or it can help to review the register for any transactions without a green box. Or it can be helpful to do the reconciliation for a smaller chunk of time if possible, like a week at a time. Just some ideas if you want to keep looking! But if you don't want to keep looking, which is perfectly fine, then yes, just Finish the reconciliation anyway and let QB put in an AJE to get you back on track.
Thank you Sarah, it is helpful. But after i added all the expense in the bank register, i can see all the transactions in the register but they don't show up under the banking account. Do you know why?
That's because you have already assigned a category to them. So they don't need to be in the tab of items to be categorized. You have done that step, so they go directly to the register, and that is fine!
Hello Sarah, thank you for this content this is what im looking for... Follow up questions please if you have a owner personal expenses.( I accidentally used my business card) do i have to reconcile this so my difference would be zero? I created expense, category is --owners draw right? also do i have to exclude the one that showed up to my bank feeds?
This video will walk you through what to do: ua-cam.com/video/ljEzCwvQc2w/v-deo.html But the Owner's Draw should be an Equity account type, not an Expense account type.
Thank you very much Sarah for this information. Is it possible for me to reconcile a month without a bank statement? My bank merged and they were re-duing things for a while. However there is no transactions for the month of August. And I have no bank to pull a statement from. Any advice?
Hi Sarh, Thank you for the video. Your videos help me to understand a lot about online bookkeeping. I am going to buy quickbooks online soon. Which version is best for Canadian etsy seller with two etsy shops? Do i need to buy twice for two shops? Thank you.
Hi Sarah, I have 4 months of missing bank transactions right in the middle of the year (connection glitch?), too many to enter manually. Anyway to import those 4 months missing transactions in to QB online?
Hi Sandy, yes you can import transactions. This video is geared towards people who need data earlier than 90 days when they are first starting up QB, but the principle of uploading transactions still applies.
I'm really stuck on my actual balance bring correct ajd my quick book balance being wrong. Called quick books but they couldn't help. I've gone through all bank statements and all ending balances and dates match. So stuck 😞
Sorry to hear that Jade. Reconciling can be tricky depending on the account. I would just pull up your bank statement and pull up your QB register for that account and literally go line by line until you find the problem.
Hey Sarah, thank you SO much for these videos. They are extremely helpful! I have a question for you.. Should my PayPal withdrawals be going to my checking account? Right now my PayPal transactions (item - fee) is showing in my PayPal bank, but so are some of my PayPal transfers. Sorry if this is a silly question
I'm trying to figure out why my expenses are not showing in my profit and loss report. Like it shows that my total expenses for Q1 are $84,000 in the balance sheet, but only showing about $23,000 in profit and loss report. Please help!

THANK YOU! Just what I needed to know.
Thank you so much for this!
You're so welcome!
Thank you! Do you click Reconcile at the end?

You saved my day!!! Thank you!!!

Glad it was helpful!
Hi there, thanks for this. great tutor! qu... what if im manually adding multiple transactions from the same customer, is the a quicker way?
You can also upload CSV files if you have a large group of missing transactions. You can find that option on the Banking Tab.
@@SmallBusinessSarah do you have a tutorial for uploading these CSV files?
short n sweet thanks
Thank you, such clear instruction. Really enjoy your videos.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your assistance!
Happy to help!
Great Job! . Very clear.
Great Video! I think we can also upload the missing transactions from banking tools to bank feeds.
Yes! If there were a lot of transactions, that would be a great option!
THANK YOU!!!
thank you very helpful
Glad it helped

How do I go back and add last year’s transactions. I click only this year but would like to also add last years. Thank you😊
If you have a whole year of transactions I would upload a CSV file.
Love the channel.

If QB hasn't pulled in some transactions, the only way to find the missing transactions is from the bank or a bank statement. Sorry!
How about "credits" that serve as part of the payment of the total amount due? How to add it manually to QBO?
For those I would probably just split the transaction. You can split either expenses or deposits in the bank feed into multiple categories.
Hi Sarh, Thank you for the video. Your videos help me to understand a lot about online bookkeeping. I am going to buy quickbooks online soon. Which version is best for Canadian etsy seller with two etsy shops? Do i need to buy twice for two shops? Thank you.
In Canada it's called QuickBooks Online Easy Start. You only need one QuickBooks account. Both Etsy shops can be accounted for in the same program.
@@SmallBusinessSarah Thank you for the reply Sarah.

what if I've already started reconciling will this still work???
Yes, you can leave your reconciliation, just hit Save for Later. Then add what you need to, and go back and finish reconciling.

I'm not sure what's happening with your bookkeeping, because expenses can't appear on the Balance Sheet. Sorry!
No.. what if they simple say .. deposit .. and they are on bank statement and not in QBO
Hopefully you know what the deposit is, but then you can just go to +New to add the missing deposit to QB.
7 months missing quick books not good
You can also do bulk uploads! ua-cam.com/video/gU5JqtppGzk/v-deo.html
thank you. much appreciated. The official quick books videos aren't helpful at all.
