  • I built this mid-century modern-style bookcase to accompany my growing reading addiction! The design was also inspired by a building I came across on Pinterest, and thought I'd experiment with the style on a piece of furniture. Let me know what you think!

    Fits well into my space, I painted the back green. It's very easy to customize just the back if that's something you want to do. I would suggest sanding it first before painting, I got a little impatient. The shelves ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxM8H4CjCb79vzeyvgaFMdzmLm88oVFPMkare pretty small so keep that in mind if you're going to have it horizontal that some books won't fit. I like the snug look that it has. Good small shelf if you don't have much space, but not too small. Simple to put together, though you'll need your own tools, a screwdriver and a mallet/hammer, it's easiest to do with another person.

    I'm a huge fan of your videos (and woodworking content in general) but one thing I noticed when I tried my own projects is how much noisier woodworking is in the real world. UA-camrs all make it look super mellow and relaxing when really power tools are really freaking loud and scary. Took me quite some time to get used to it! :-)

    • @BevelishCreations
      @BevelishCreations  2 роки тому

      Haha get some nice noise cancelling headphones! Sometimes I forget how loud my shop is when I’m listening to a nice audiobook, or listening to some mellow music. :)

    What was that tool you used at the end to flush trim the plugs? Never seen anything like that but whatever it was it made quick work of those plugs!

    • @BevelishCreations
      @BevelishCreations  2 роки тому

      It’s called a “plug planer”. It’s pretty expensive. I think if you have a lot to trim, it is definitely worth it. But if you just have one or two, it’s cheaper to just use a saw

    • @johnandrebeccamalcolm3895

      $120. You're right, that's pretty expensive!

    • @BevelishCreations
      @BevelishCreations  2 роки тому +1

      Yep it is. It’s useful if you have a ton of plugs to flush up, or if you do this everyday. It’ll save a lot of time using this tool. But if you just have two or three, it’s overkill

  • @twobitwoodworker

    Cool design and great effort. I'm worried about that door though with 12"+ of engrain being joined to unmoving epoxy. If it makes it a year it'll probably be out of the woods.

      Hi it’s called a “plug planer”. There’s a link in the descriptions. Tbh, it’s pretty expensive. It’s useful if you have a lot of plugs to trim, like I did for the built-in I built for the cafe. But for a project like this, a hand saw is good enough :)

    • @4SonsWoodwork
