Personally I had become very bored with metal. Everybody was starting to sound the same, everybody was screaming and shouting, there was no melody any more. BABYMETAL brought me back with the quality of the song writing, the musicianship, the passion they have for performing. The choreo surprised me - generally I always found dance pointless and even annoying, who knew there would be a band introducing it to metal and that it somehow all makes sense? I know I didn't. Mostly it is Su-metal's vocals.
What I like is the complexity of it all. On the surface it seems simple but then you start listening to what every instrument is playing, how the song is constructed, how it’s sung, and then choreography on top. You can see it’s a production with a lot of thought behind every song, and then the joy they bring to the stage showing how much it means to them. It’s hard to not feel better about your day.
There are many things to love about BABYMETAL, and some of them are quite unique. The compositions are really good (they are the only band I have ever been a fan of hat doesn’t a have single song that I don’t like), the stage musicians (that you cannot see here) are fantastic, the music is still unique after 14 years, the choreography is not only unique in Metal, but also fits the music really well and adds a whole lot to the entertainment value, the vocals are angelic, the stage designs of their big arena shows are outstanding… But what I love the most is the positivity in the music and everything they do. Their smiles on stage are the only thing I need to guarantee a great day. That’s absolutely priceless.

The first reason why I became a big fan, it was Su-'s vocal. Another reason is Yui and Moa's tremendously cuteness, lol. It has also many other reasons, but I can't write them all down. Well, I'm not a metalhead, nor a Japanese idol otaku, I was just a Japanese jazz fusion lover. So it was strange for myself to have become so too, haha. They were 16 (Su-Metal), 14 (Yuimetal) and 14 (Moametal) years old in this performance. Today Su-Metal is 27, Moametal is 25, and new member Momometal (you saw her in the "Brand New Day" live performance) is 21. Su-Metal´s voice is outstanding, Yuimetal´s and Moametal´s choreography is so fast, so accurate, and so much fun! It is interpretative to the music and the lyrics. At some point in time you´ll get to know their real backing band, the "Kami Band". The finest session musicians you might find in the world. There are in fact two Kami Bands, the "Kami Band of the East", all Japanese musicians, and the "Kami Band of the West", all US American musicians. Both are awesome! With this video you watched the "Baby Bones", guys in seleton costumes mimicking a live band. Since 2014 the Kami Band supports all of BABYMETAL live concerts. Favourite thing about BABYMETAL? That it happened in 2010! IMHO, the greatest thing in contemporary music ever. Heavy Metal (well, most of the time. They do every style!), joy, fun, positivity, and the most amazing live performances in a whole and perfect package. Well they were founded with zhe target bring girls into metal, but it took time till they really reached sufficient numbers to reach women and girls that really come to their show and this song was purely designed for the shock element. And in some perspectives you see how small their locations once were. This year they finally make their first European and UK Arens Tour.
Excellent reaction with a lot of great informed commentary. One small thing. Did Babymetal "find" a niche or did they create their own niche. Nobody had ever done this before. And to my knowledge nobody else is doing it now. I personally love everything about Babymetal. But if I were forced to pick one thing that really stands out. Well that would be Su's voice. I don't know if you've heard but 2024's Metal Awards Su in a bit of a landslide won Female Metal Vocalist of the Year. Official recognition from the metal community that is long overdue. I'm not a hardcore fan, though I am a fan of certain songs and what BM does in general for many of the reasons already mentioned. This comment is more about how they are perceived as delivering an aggressively positive vibe. This is the same thing often said about the Indian folk metal band Bloodywood. This is one of the many reasons why I think their recent collaboration with BM turned out to be as epic and as well received as it did and was. Favourite thing about BABYMETAL? That it happened in 2010! IMHO, the greatest thing in contemporary music ever. Heavy Metal (well, most of the time. They do every style!), joy, fun, positivity, and the most amazing live performances in a whole and perfect package.

Well they were founded with zhe target bring girls into metal, but it took time till they really reached sufficient numbers to reach women and girls that really come to their show and this song was purely designed for the shock element. And in some perspectives you see how small their locations once were. This year they finally make their first European and UK Arens Tour.
Excellent reaction with a lot of great informed commentary. One small thing. Did Babymetal "find" a niche or did they create their own niche. Nobody had ever done this before. And to my knowledge nobody else is doing it now.
I personally love everything about Babymetal. But if I were forced to pick one thing that really stands out. Well that would be Su's voice. I don't know if you've heard but 2024's Metal Awards Su in a bit of a landslide won Female Metal Vocalist of the Year. Official recognition from the metal community that is long overdue. Again nice job.
My favorite thing with Babymetal is that they don't follow. They do their own thing and despite them being a created group they still stay pretty true to themselves
The garage band is almost entirely a myth. Most bands are put together.

Many members of The One will say that this song isn't among BABYMETAL's best - I beg to differ. Although BABYMETAL does have many songs that are better, this song defines what BABYMETAL is: heavy metal pleasantly mixed with J-pop without missing a beat - kawaii metal at its best, and one of the best videos of the "Yui Era" (a bit more on that later).
BABYMETAL has an extensive history (and lore) which I won’t get into but a quick synopsis: they’ve been around since 2010, and started when their lead singer - known as Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) - was about twelve, and the two "cheerleaders" (officially "scream and dance" (backing vocals)) - Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) and Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) - were both around eleven. Unfortunately, Yui left the group in 2018 because of health concerns, and early in 2023 Momoko Okazaki (Momometal) was named a member of the group. They do not play instruments but are backed by the Kami Band - session musicians who are among the best that Japan (and the U.S.) has to offer.
BABYMETAL started a brand new genre of music ("kawaii metal" - cute metal), and they cannot be pigeon-holed - they are almost always thinking and moving outside box; they made listening to metal FUN! They have, to date, four studio albums with over fifty songs, and have been on a number of world tours. It is common knowledge among their devoted fans (known as "The One") that BABYMETAL is best served live, but they do have several music videos that are real works of art.
I try to urge people new to BABYMETAL to start from BABYMETAL's beginning and see how they have progressed to now - see where they’ve been before getting caught up in where they are - and react to their first two music videos, "Doki Doki Morning" ( ua-cam.com/video/cirhQ8iLdbw/v-deo.htmlsi=k84SUx4P01t9M5ic ) and "Iine!" It is my opinion that until you’ve seen their earlier work, you haven't really experienced BABYMETAL.

I'm not a hardcore fan, though I am a fan of certain songs and what BM does in general for many of the reasons already mentioned. This comment is more about how they are perceived as delivering an aggressively positive vibe. This is the same thing often said about the Indian folk metal band Bloodywood. This is one of the many reasons why I think their recent collaboration with BM turned out to be as epic and as well received as it did and was. How often do you hear low female contralto voices in popular music? Agree, they are rare.
The "dramatic contralto" voice is a very rare gift.
And how often do female contraltos have a range of 3 octaves? It's hard for me to remember even one name. And a dramatic contralto of 4 octaves? At 21 years old!? Dramatic contralto is the darkest, deepest female voice that hits notes that many sopranos cannot reach (the highest note at the moment is G#6). Such voices are born once in 100 years. I realize you probably know little about these young ladies. You like so many others decided to react to this Official MV because of the 200 million views. But this is not really indicative of who BABYMETAL is.
In my opinion they are THE best LIVE band on the planet.
Like most BABYMETAL Official MV's this is studio audio over LIVE footage so I recommend HQ Pro Shots of actual LIVE performances and there over 65 and they are all different (this MV was taken from a 2013 concert when they were very young).
Too much information to go into about so much so now I will just say:
