Donated! Love the cover art too James
Thanks so much Will!
Massive appreciation sir 🍻🍻🍻
All these song analysis and recording technique videos are incredibly useful, planning to use them at college on Monday
Great to hear!
I’ve accidentally got an insane wall of sound on my first ever demo, I used a an acoustic guitar, open chords on electric and power chords on electric recorded mono on audacity. It still sounds huge just a shame I can’t sing 😂
its best if you record the same electric track twice and pan left and right
This isn’t advice from Oasis or Oasis engineers but you might like to use a graphic EQ like the API 560 (analogue or vst) and isolate and boost the real schexy frequencies of the tambourine track. I just remember Oasis’ tambourines sounding much more lush, if they were this true to the sound they probably used mic proximity to capture the right frequencies also.
Great breakdown, how intriguing, thanks James. *applies 5 layers of guitars; panned, played, voiced and picked up differently*
sick, such a helpful video as always, you do such a service to this community
Cheers Jake, much appreciated :)
Dude this is such a great video. I've always wanted to make this sound and you've helped me so much.
Fucking hell this was an absolutely solid video.
Dang. That's a cool looking cover 👌. Can't wait to listen to the EP :D
Thanks HB!
Hi James, congratulations for your new EP. This is a great video. I just play at home on my own connected into GarageBand, but even so you've given a lot of ideas that I can play around with. Cheers
really brilliant video! amazing how in the overall blend the overdriven root notes make it sound a bit like there's a cello
This is super informative. Really appretiate the content.
James, thank you so much for making this video, it’s really helped me in my band for how to have an Oasis sound with me and the other guitarist doing a Noel and Bonehead style rhythm guitar parts and then I play the solos with only the barre chords playing during that
Can’t wait James lad 💪 big support here in rural Ireland 🇮🇪
The Wall of Sound really works good luck with the next EP Great cover pic all the best ❤️
Cheers Rich! Much appreciated
This was exceptional. Love the new EP cover!
Used to lose my mind at the slightest melody/lyric change when oasis played live. Cigarettes n alcohol live at gmex still gets me
Really well done!
Thank you James, you are always a great inspiration !!
Nailed it! Thanks James 👍Enoying your journey... Best of luck
Great video!!!
Thanks for the great video James, great shot for the EP cover as well. Keep it rockin’ all the best
Would love to see more recording tips videos like this
Im recording an EP just now. This is gold
Very inspiring mate, got about 13 or so tunes recorded by now, the current tracks guitar parts just need some texturing to really make them punch, at the minute it kind of just sounds like two guitars fighting against each other, this has given me the inspiration I needed to really make the tune pop. Thanks man!!
Good luck on your music
Great looking cover. Look forward to hearing it. Des Drivers a real earworm.
2:22 does anyone else get some Bonehead’s Bank Holiday vibes or is that just me? It sounds even more like it at 3:43 and it goes on like that throughout this in my opinion.
Yes. 100%
Nicely done. I used a lot of these techniques when I used to write music for a living in my studio but not the single note guitar approach which is very cool.
I’ve been re-listening to Be Here Now and realised what undermined that record was the absurd amount of overdubbed guitars that really derailed the mix.
On some of the songs Alan white sounds like he’s playing on cardboard boxes because there’s just no space left to hear the drums.
In hindsight I tend to agree with Liam Gallager that it is a good record with some great songs but it’s desperately in need of some trimming and pruning to let them shine through.
That and cutting about four minutes off most of the songs...
😏
Couldn’t have put it any better mate. It could of been a great follow up. Still like to smash a bag or 2 and listen to it cover to cover though 😂 it’s only palatable to me when I’m off my tits.
That was amazing, extremely informative
I enjoy your videos. I love your passion for music - especially your own stuff
Great album cover! Thank you for the excellent insight.
I always thought the "Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants" sleeve was awesome.
Hi James,
Thanks for the tips. I 'll try, i. Wasn't aware of all this tricks.
Many thanks for the radios list. It works. Some of my songs have been played.
If you want to listen our EP, i ll paste a link.
Have a nice day
James, this is an awesome video, as usual. You’ve really helped me understand a lot about how these sounds are achieved.
If I may ask a question, what production software do you use? I’ve searched your channel and can’t find anything on it. My bad, if I’ve missed a vid. Cheers.
The cover is awesome mate ✌🏼💙
Nice work.
Glad you like it!
Congrats on the new EP m8!
I think I can now see how Oasis got that Columbia sound now
Great video sound like don’t look back in anger
Great video James. All the best with the EP. 👍
Sounds like something off Be Here Now!
That cover is pure 🔥❤️
question how do you get make the vocals prominent enough that they don't stick out too much but don't get lost in the mix?
Outstanding! This has taken me back ;]
Picking part was very noticeable in the mix. Very good tips
Do you have the tab for the some might say clean part
Hey James, really appreciated this video. It really opened my yes as to how to get a proper sound. genuinely cant thank you enough. youve left me insipred for sure mate.Cheers :)
Fucken great mate I’m gonna use this in a song my bands working on. I’ve always known some stuff of the wall of sound but this lays it out fully,
Love your videos James -- this was awesome. Been playing a ton of Oasis on guitar and wondering how they made some of the additional sounds that I can hear on record but don't necessarily see in tabs or explainers.
Really interesting. Sounds great!
Song is fire! Nice job mate
fucking brilliant mate, this is what the internet was made for
Try Nashville tuning on the acoustics. Perfect for this kinda thing. Keeps it from getting too muddy.
Donated, can't wait for the 2nd one :)
Thanks so much HEC
Me neither! I'm hoping to be able to get the CD mastered, printed and available a bit faster and a bit more streamlined than the last one, as I actually know what I'm doing this time round!
I'm also researching vinyl, but apparently many UK vinyl factories are experiencing massive delays due to high demand, so I'll have to play that one by ear
Fun times...
Great breakdown 👍
Honestly, that’s a top picture mate!
Do something on Steve Jones guitar from the sex pistols
Nice man
Thank you!!
What mic , preamps and interface are you using? Great channel mate , cheers from the States
Thanks!
You are very welcome :) :) :)
Awesome! Just wondering: what's the chord that plays right before the chorus starts again on G? Sounds like a 7th chord but I can't work it out for the life of me! Would appreciate any help. Thanks for the great advice.
it's C7
James, in terms of guitar type, what do you recommend to get that kind of sound? Humbucker, single coils? Semi hollow, solid, LP, strat, tele, ... Which is more versatile for this style? Or you use anything as long as you use the right amp settings and effects?
What the amp you used on this video ?
James, what specs did you chose for your studio computer? Did you buy latest powerful RTX graphics card? Processor? How much RAM? I've had the same idea for a couple of years, to buy a powerful gaming computer mainly for the music. I easily have the budget, but I'm cheap, feel like I'm wasting money and debating with myself if I'm aiming too high specs wise, if I really need that much power. I'm thinking RTX 3070. Thanks for awesome vids and inspiration!
Good video friend. 🎸👍
Class video
Great cover art , good luck with Flying Through the Noise…
how they play all that live?
Nice video.
Lol wtf!- I didn’t know you lived near my hometown?!?Richmond N Yorks- i will be walking around that very course tomorrow with my mother(she still lives just down the road). Ha- small world. One of my favourite places to be- just on the hill next tot the old grandstand.
Sounds mega👌
10 32 you've been chipmunked
Good lad
love your videos, how do i get into playing guitar? hate my job and want to get lost in music
You certainly have to buy one first, then just watch some youtube tutorials, try learning music you like and that's it. You will have to learn some basic techniques, then just study tabs for your favourite songs. And bit by bit you are there
Back in the 90s, guitar magazine ran endless pieces akin to this one, and they never captured the magic. There was something special about Oasis, something that was greater than the sum of the parts, and I have to think that since it disappeared when Bonehead and Guiggs left, it was, somehow, coming from them.
Why don't you go to where it all started 304 Holloway Road islington North london
I'm a Guitarist from South Wales
Never?
I used a vacuum cleaner to help create my "wall of guitars/sound"... With varying results!!
Serious?
@@mungofinalfi4480
Yes!! Try it!!
@@WayneCatlin Cool. I might!
What the lead singer of Supergrass said is nothing more that what Freddy Mercury said in the 80s
👍🇩🇪
Step one: get bonehead on rhythm guitar
Please, please get a graphic designer to work on your typography
Hey James, the cover art is amazing, but, I'm sorry to say this, the letters ruin it completely, it's basic and hard to read
why? one of the dullest uninspired artists of the last 30 years
