@@Betin264 nintendo revolution is too long of a name. they chose Wii because its understandable in all languages, the two "ii" in Wii resemble two players standing up, and it sounds like the word "we"
I still think this was the time I was the most excited for any up and coming game system. The Wii Remote was an absolute genius of a controller. Sadly, I don't think the industry will see such a unique phenomenon ever again.
It's interesting how in the video, the bottom two buttons were x and y, but screenshots from around the same time showed a lowercase a and a lowercase b
I started playing the Wii in 2010, I remember the MKW commercials in 2009 with the WiiWheel damn I wanted to play it so badly, good thing my cousin gave me his Wii. Say what you want, but the Switch is nothing compared to the Wii. I wish they had continued it.
This is actually the scariest Nintendo Ad of all time (Not Kidding) I remember time traveling back to Spaceworld 2005 without knowing the Wii's Original Name before February of 2006
Sony released the Sixaxis 8 days before the Wii came out. lol I'm curious if they hobbled it together after this trailer, or if they had even earlier intel about motion controls.
There was no Wii motion plus at the time it was the prototype dongle for the nunchucks which was for some reason a lot larger then the one we know today
Uhh.... The Wiimote works just fine. It's just that most developers didn't use it properly until mid-2008. The Motion + was made because Nintendo wanted the Wiimote to be more precise (excluding IR pointing).
when i first saw this video in 2005 im like holy crap this looks frigin amazing but if only i knew that most of the games for wii would end up looking like the clip at 1:12
they changed 4 things in the controller at the bottom it isnt the nintendo logo its the wii it isnt y its 2 it inst x its 1 and the power button isnt retangular its circular
I'll bet the original Wii remote had a gyroscope, but sometime before launch, the head of Nintendo thought, "No, let's release that as a separate peripheral sometime down the road." And thus, we were given a controller with a lousy accelerometer to do all of this. It just wasn't possible, and the hardcore gamer was DOOMED!
This video was actually revealed at the Tokyo game show in 2005
What day and month?
September 16th, 2005
That's what I thought. Thanks for clearing this up.
i remember when this came out, so much hype. now, only 2 hours away from the nx reveal video.
Tubby J Not the obly one eho's checking out the old videos while waiting, then?
Now you know it’s switch :)
THE SWITCHHHHH
Where that NX pro tho
@@ManiLink Rumors say it could be the big deal. Not so sure about that, though.

1:04 fatal frame
This trailer was not shown at E3 2005. They only showed the console at that time, not the controller.
it was shown at the Tokyo Game Show in 2005
And with that, a legend was born!
I don't know why but I missed the prototype Controller of the Wii/Revolution
Is that Elsa on your Profile?
@@stormstrawther7810 yes
Just finished watching an IGN unboxing video of the PS5 remote, and remembered how much more futuristic we were back in 2005. 😎
When the Revolution began..
I still get chills whenever I see this
Nostalgia.
1:00 wii motion plus!
Alex Boucher with a wired nunchuck shoved up it's anus
Jeff Banks its**
The nunchuck looked different and the bottim of the Wii Remote was different.
I was born the year that this video came out, in 2006. And what the video shows is even older than me. Damn, what interesting concepts they had.
The story will repeat itself this year
If this was still called the revolution instead of the Wii, miis probably would have a different name, or wouldn’t exist.
I believe that "Nintendo Revolution" is a cool name. Nothing against "Wii", but Nintendo Revoluiton (NR) sounds better. Like a true console name.
If it was still dubbed Revolution, Miis would've been called Revolutionaries.
REEs
No. Nintendo Martians

god this was so damn hardcore.

Never noticed that they didn't show any game footage in this. Awesome.
200porcupines I only heard SFX and the switch trailer showed game footage.
This video is older than a lot of people on UA-cam.
Cant wait til this is out

That one Nintendo collector: GIVE ME ALL THE REVOLUTIONS
Amazing how a Gimmick can trick consumers minds. I still love my wii.
This is how the revolution began!
Was that a Wii Motion Plus? lol nah it was a prototype connector for the nunchuck add on
This is actually the scariest Nintendo Ad of all time (Not Kidding)
I remember time traveling back to Spaceworld 2005 without knowing the Wii's Original Name before February of 2006
This really was a pretty amazing moment--but it didn't happen at E3.
almost 7 years later and we have the wii u
The time with the Wii 2006 was a gerat experience!
Sony released the Sixaxis 8 days before the Wii came out. lol
I'm curious if they hobbled it together after this trailer, or if they had even earlier intel about motion controls.
This isn't from E3 2005. This is from TGS 2005. They didn't reveal the controller at E3 2005.
Ancient video, ANCIENT
@TheGabrielfaro That might be the nunchuk, but it probably is Motion Plus.
it feels weird how im looking at a 2005 thing when i was born the year after
Yo_Penguin it feels weird when the Wii was still running, (2008) and I was watching a thing three years before I was born.
I am trying to watch all of the old Wii videos just to see how Nintendo is gonna due it this time around.
Was pretty darn excited when I saw this back in 2005, but then I owned it and it would only get worse from there.
There was no Wii motion plus at the time it was the prototype dongle for the nunchucks which was for some reason a lot larger then the one we know today
The biggest give away that it was not going to be 1:1 motion at all is the fact that they show absolutely no gameplay in this.
I know this can't be it....but I can't resist thinking that the nunchuk plugs into the motion plus add on....lol
WOAH!!!!!!!
@THeFLoA yes and the joystick in nunchuck wasnt like that and the plug was too big
Uhh.... The Wiimote works just fine. It's just that most developers didn't use it properly until mid-2008. The Motion + was made because Nintendo wanted the Wiimote to be more precise (excluding IR pointing).
Its so sad I grew up with this a it's going to shut down in 2020
Who's watching this in 2017?
IceyPie me
oh you made the Wii deleted you right?
yeah
...where has the fun gone?

@J damn
If they had a motion-controlled Mario game that would be cool.
Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Odyssey exist lol

HEY!! IT HAS A WII MOTION PLUS ATTACHED TO THE CONTROLLER!!!
i hope its the same with wiiu the wii controllers were different looking than that
The old people
until 2006
It was so WOOOOOOOOOW, but now well the revolution ended up, but was really a revolution, i mean you imagined that, someone will do it?
yes it was a revolution after all, Nintendo nailed it with this console.
Someone needs to make a mod of New Super Mario Bros. Wii where you hold the remote vertically and jump with motion controls.
That would be extremely tiring
It's probably renamed the Nintendo Wii. I have one of those. I was hoping to get Barbie and the Three Musketeers.
Wii would like to play
So there wasn’t going to be a 1 and 2 button. Instead it was gonna be X and Y.
And the name wasn’t going to be wii
@abehammy doubt it
Oh
Opening to Corpse Bride in AMC Theater2005 USA
(DISOWNED For my Comment) This Was Actually Not Real

Oh look! It's Wii!
Is anyone else going to say anything about the prototype controllers
they changed 4 things in the controller at the bottom it isnt the nintendo logo its the wii
it isnt y its 2
it inst x its 1
and the power button isnt retangular its circular
I've noticed
Where’s the game?
