I thought it was an actual book. Still looks good. I was 12 yrs old in 1995 when I first seen the movie. My second favorite movie after The Dark Knight Rises.
I haven't read the Special Edition yet, but I did thumb through the original version on more than one occasion. I've loved the film for more than 20 years, and I've been blessed to have met James O'Barr several times. He also drew a couple of custom sketches for me, that I still have in great condition. I asked him if he ever found peace over his girlfriend's death, and he said "Yes, but not from the book".
This stuff hit me so hard on a emotional level that i religiously repeat reading every novembar,it's huge thing in my life,i know im not gonna get chance to meet James cause im writing this across the "big sea" but to know that there are so many people from all around the world and that we all found light in this weeping song makes life powerful and beautiful in some way, thank you all for that
Ohh man sorry to hear about the folded page, that would bug me to no end lol I like the blank pages in the front and back, it gave me a chance to ask James O'barr to do a drawing in it for me
Ohhh I know that feeling all to well!!! I just spent way more than I should have to get all of the TF IDW hardcovers. Good news is, The Crow is on the less expensive side of the spectrum.
I just picked this up - also from Amazon - and it arrived yesterday. Reading through it today I realized it all printed completely out of order, rendering it nearly unreadable. I’m wondering how many others ended up with theirs the same way, or if mine was a fluke.
I'm new to comic collecting but I'm still a minor with no job so I can only buy paperbacks. Seeing this video makes me wish I would've save a couple more dollars and bought hardcover lmao
One of my top 3 favorite films of all time in my cinema history! My mom actually took me to the theaters in the mid 90s to see alex proyas film😎 one of the best sdtk in films in my humble opinion.
The original is in comic book format. You’re not able to read the story in its entirety in the original format, because Caliber Comics went under and the fifth story was never fully printed. The Kitchen Sink Press TPB was the first time we were able to read the story in its entirety. This version is the most complete that has been released. I’d say as far as completion this is the best, however nothing beats opening the original comics from 89 with that old smell of the pages and knowing it’s one of only 10k ever printed. Nothing beats that.
Hi one question does the special edition include the entire story? Like all the books pain despair etc..? And one last question I heard that there are 2 editions of the special edition. One with extra 30 pages to the story and one with 60. Or am I wrong?
@@TheHardcoverComic I was thinking the same. The fact is that the woman in black appears, in the Special Edition, dressed in a more "elegant way" (let's think, for example, to the episode where Eric and Shelly dance together)... In the original work we see this shape three times: 1) when Eric meets Funboy for the last time (Eric and the lady are pretty distant from each other); 2) when Shelby's head is going to be wiped out (Eric is closer to her and we see that she's not Shelly); 3) in "Passover", the beautiful kiss scene. I think that O'Barr decided to include the woman that HE himself loved (the reason why this masterpiece exists) but the way her hair are represented always made me think, that's why I'm asking you:) I also think that in "CODA" the same shape throws Eric's gun away to tell the reader "Eric doesn't have to fight anymore, it's over". What do you think?☺️
I would strongly agree with you! I definitely feel that the woman in black is O’Barr’s real life “Shelly”. Similar to how the horse represents Eric’s guilt….but it’s really O’Barrs guilt for not being able to drive himself and feeling responsible for the accident. Man you really made me want to go reread this! I actually upgraded awhile back and got the Easton Press leather bound edition. It was my holy grail of hardcovers.
@@TheHardcoverComic I really appreciate your thoughts and I'm happy that you'd like to read it again! I'd love to have the Easton Press edition... It's simply perfect🤩 One day I will find it... One day😂 You are right about the horse... It's meaning becomes clear with the new author's introduction and the new "Sparklehorse" chapter. There's so much pain in this book and I have to admit that this is the best graphic novel I've ever read. Thank you again for your review:)
Yeah man it’s amazing!!! I shelled out more than I care to admit for the Easton Press version lol. The insides are identical to this one that I reviewed.
What is the expensive version. Fucking can't find it at all. Every time I look something up it's jammed with the movie or original comics. I want the MORE lavish version. Please help me find it.
I know this is old Been a fan of the crow knew of its existence when I was 16 , I’m 24 now Love the film Rip Brandon Lee I heard of the comic I haven’t read just bought this just waiting for it to ship came wait , thanks for showing this :) this is a amazing comic / movie I heard there was going to a new one don’t know if it’s happens or it’s still happening who knows :)
Amazing movie and book! One of my favorites. As for the reboot, it’s in development hell. Probably will never see the light of day. Which honestly I’m ok with.
The Hardcover Comic Thanks man. It really is a beautiful book. I looked up the other one you were talking about online. It’s made by Easton Press. And it carries a price tag of $199 😂 it is really amazing, fully sewn binding and gold embossed lettering on the cover. But, too much monies for me haha. This one is gonna be just fine for me. Thanks for the review!
Please tell me everything u know about all the versions of releases of The Crow comics. Which include all comics ever released all in 1? I basically want to know if I have everything as the author made some new comics i know are from 2014 How will I know I have everything? Also my version of your book is softcover and the company logo is different but still Gallery Books
If you’re referring to Easton Press, they aren’t a giant format, just a much classier format. It came out a few years ago and is now oop. So have to find sellers selling The Crow Easton Press
I just bought the special edition....and now I found out theres a ultimate edition. Can anyone tell me the difference between standard, special and ultimate please 🙏
If by ultimate you mean the Easton Press leather addition…there’s no difference in content between that and the special edition. Just the way the book is built with the leather cover, bookplate, etc…but the insides are exactly the same.
The original series consisted of a prologue in Caliber Presents #1, Vol. 1 issues 1-4, a preview of the previously unreleased 5th comic in Caliber Presents #15, and flashback scenes in A Caliber Christmas. There was a three part comic set published by Tundra. The first collected edition was by Kitchen Sink Press. The edition that is in this video has some new material added to the KSP version.
I found the movie the same way you did only in 2011 when I was 8 I found out later it was based on a book and own the book and movie now the other sequels to the original movie aren't nearly as good as the first the second is ok
Wtf? Why did they fold the page? I was about to order this book but that set me off man. That is not cool at all. I dont respect that nor appreciate it. Shouldn't it be factory sealed?
The comic that led to the gothic masterpiece of a movie 😃
Still my favorite comic/ graphic novel followed by dark knight returns and watchmen
Erik Rasmussen definitely hits all the feels
I thought it was an actual book. Still looks good. I was 12 yrs old in 1995 when I first seen the movie. My second favorite movie after The Dark Knight Rises.
Of all 3 movies in that trilogy you still picked the wrong one it goes
1.DK
2.BB
3.DKR

So when I search the crow paperback overview and this comes up along with another video explaining why y'all love it makes me want to get it even more

@Richard Hart he did
I got the same book but it’s paper back I am a huge fan of The Crow making a fan film as we speak in honor of this masterpiece. Nice review
Did you finish your film or not?

I remember the movie well, it's a fond part of my past. Looks like a great book, thx for sharing.
What is the binding like on this book? From the video, it doesn't look like it stays open terribly well.

I just ordered my copy off Amazon and the pages are out of order as well. Many others have reported the same issue. It's really frustrating.
Same
I bought mine shortly after the first movie came out 26 years ago so I highly doubt any computer touch ups were done on it.

I always thought it was the woman in black. But I’m very curious to hear your thoughts?
