    So moral of the story... spend 500+ and it still sags lol. 🤷‍♂️

      For this load that would be correct, we set it on the lighter setting because Austin does not tow very heavy with this truck. He did report that the real world when towing an 18ft car trailer it did help out but we are also not here to sell you anything, we want these tests to be transparent and that is why we published these results. The sag could have been improved if we went up to the black spacer, we are working on doing a follow-up video on that.

      @@damiengarrett6545 have bags on my ‘16 1500. Bought an ‘03 2500 HD with 3500 leaf springs. I have a trailer that has a significant amount of tongue weight. The RAS + 3500 leaf+ heavy trailer was almost the same as no RAS. About 3+ inches of squat.
      1500 with bags. Same trailer. I can get it to level out no problem.
      I’d say RAS is probably only good for people occasionally hauling about 1k lbs of payload or tongue weight. Anything more, bag it.

    Another thing to note on these they sell a Light Duty and a Heavy Duty version. Wondering what ones we saw in the video.

    Although the RAS raised the unloaded height and the loaded height the drop was exactly the same, 2-1/8" I expected an increased spring rate and less drop after installation.

    I think the second time you loaded the truck the load wasnt as far inside the bed as the first time, im pretty sure that could mess up the readings somehow

    If camera angle to truck was exactly the same, it appears the load was about 3-4 inches further out of the truck. That would increase leverage, thus skewing results.

    The point of this wasn't to avoid sag. It was for the stability, bounce/rebound.

    Great video fellas very helpful. It did look like to me it could have taken the black shim. Would like to have seen the difference. Follow up video?

    • @Dmaxstore
      @Dmaxstore  8 місяців тому

      It could have taken the black shim but Austin does tow very heavy or very often so he opted to keep the smaller shim so it doesn't raise the rear too much unloaded. Maybe we can do a follow up video showing the black shim versus the other.

    I'm curious as to how the rear hook stays tight to the rear eye when the leaf spring compresses... it just seems like the hook would loosen from the tension on the coil spring

    • @Dmaxstore
      @Dmaxstore  7 місяців тому +1

      You set it to be very tight when the spring has no load and when the spring compresses it makes the RAS tighter and the leaf spring flattens out as it compresses which means the RAS will only get tighter as it is set to be tight at the smallest point of compression.

    • @Dmaxstore
      @Dmaxstore  9 місяців тому +1

      That is definitely not okay to just run one side as the spring rate will be different from one side to another. I would recommend contacting RAS directly to see if they can get you one for the other side.

    Why did you leave the forklift once ras was installed, looks a little fishy that way

  • @MyProjectsFL
    @MyProjectsFL 5 місяців тому +1

    The problem with this system is the cost, nearly $600 and it appears to do nothing more than what my heavy duty shock (with helper springs integrated) does for my truck and they were a fraction of the cost. Now, it's possible I'm missing something, but the rate of change seemed very similar before and after the install. I mean whether stock or with the RAS helpers, the sag was still 3/8" either way. Maybe they help ride comfort a lot.

    • @DretheDriver
      @DretheDriver 4 місяці тому

      Difference is you can combine these with the helper shock and yellow sumosprings and watch it ride like magic. 1 twig breaks a bundle wont

    • @Justin-il8ij
      @Justin-il8ij 3 місяці тому +1

      @DretheDriver, at that point, why not purchase airbags and be done with the it. Yea, maybe maintaining bags can be a hassle, but man, for all the money you spend why not.

    • @MyProjectsFL
      @MyProjectsFL 3 місяці тому

      @@Justin-il8ij I agree, while they are a cool little feature that provides some benefit, I just can't see spending that kind of money on such a simple items.

    • @Dmaxstore
      @Dmaxstore  Рік тому +1

      That is correct, you would need to take out the overloads if you wanted to use RAS. Depending on your use case, another type of helper spring may work better for you.

    Thank you for the effort but, maybe a different video of much less talking and more showing each step of installation instead of just glossing over the steps. Also be more consistent with what you are measuring. Show the measurements before and after. Show different weights too would be nice. Thank you and keep doing what you do.

    Of course the guy who got the suspension for free likes them. Experienced people whom have installed these on several types of trucks and vans would have given a broader viewpoint of benefit of adding these units. An explanation of how overall handling improved, if it did, would have been useful. You have obviously not won people over with this video. Try Harder next time.

    Well, I just ordered a set of these and then watched this video. I just spent $500 for nothing! This demonstration was not very impressive at all, you gained little to nothing with those things. I guess they could improve the ride while towing but I really need to reduce the squat of a heavy trailer.

    • @Dmaxstore
