I gained a ton of respect for Doug after seeing him on LATB and I really commend Doug on a multitude of levels for how he carried himself during "Doug Polk Week". I've heard Doug's name countless times over the past few years but It wasn't until I saw him on LATB that I started searching for and consuming all of his great content available on UA-cam, Twitch, etc.
Social media can be an absolute sespool and the chat of a twitch stream is at the top of that trolling food chart. Doug was a great sport all week and he genuinly came across as a good guy with character and integrity.
I don't know Ben Tollerene from Ben Stiller (ok that's not entirely true) but after watching every minute (yup, all 32 of them!) of his Doug's vlog about Ben, it's clear to me Doug is telling the truth. I can't imagine the vulnerability of recounting such a personal story for thousands to hear/view and potentially ridicule. But, that's exactly what Doug did and I am now a big fan.
Papai - great podcast as always my man!

I'm sorry, but I have to set some things strait. I respect Doug, but he's not being entirely truthful here, as he's leaving a huge fact out. You can't approach someone who's already completely pissed off, and look to immediately put them on the defensive. Doug in this podcast says that when he called in the show, Limon immediately says, " You think I give a fuck etc.," and Doug hangs up.
That is far from how this went down. Limon reluctantly let Doug on the show, because he was put on the spot by his friend Fee. Had Doug put his ego aside, and had some humility, whether he thinks he is right or wrong, and come on the show and said, hey Limon I am really sorry, it was a misunderstanding and I wasn't trying to show you up in any way; my apologies, but I am here now and would like to make it up to you - That's all Limon wanted to hear - Limon would have melted with that approach, and the show would have went on, and that would be the end of it. Go back to the stream and listen to what Doug said the moment he got on the show. He basically said, as he was laughing, are you just going to be a little bitch and cry for an hour. How's is Limon suppose to react to that? How would any of you react to that opening line.
I am not picking sides, but lets tell the truth of what went down.
I like them both, and like most humans, they both have some character defects and could have handled it better. Limon's reaction was a bit over the top, and he probably drinks a bit too much. Doug is young and and probably lacks a bit of humility, and frankly as successful as he is at his age, I understand. Ten years into the future, he probably handles the situation a little different.
Doug, give him a sincere apology, that's all Limon wants. You do have a part in this. Watch the stream and imagine the situation reversed, and listen to how you approached him when you finally got on the show.
That's the end of my rant.

I didn't like the comment that you made about Alec Torelli personally. Just because you haven't played with him enough that doesn't mean he's a bad player. He has made millions of dollars in high stakes cash game and I've seen him make excellent reads and folds. He's a cash game specialist and not much a tournoment players so that doesn't mean he's a bad player.

Joey made a key point regarding the podcast that he and Limon did. Limon apologized to him and so Joey got over it.
Correct me if I'm wrong but Doug never apologized directly to Limon therefore Limon isn't being unreasonable. To my knowledge Doug made excuses and then trolled Limon. Plus, as Doug agreed, Limon is the FISH so he should have been treated as such. Respect the FISH! :-)

Limon was a childish douche about it, and his rant was cringe-worthy. Didn't know him before, don't care to know him now. I'm sure an actual professional player like Dan Polk agrees on that end. A relationship with Limon is worth nothing. /thread

Really enjoy listening to you guys. Doug, I love you, you put out GREAT content and are a proven top player at NL. BUT, have a little humility and generosity with other players. I'm all for outing a jackass like Dan Bilzerian who is obviously completely full of s**t, but Alec Torelli is also obviously a really great player. Ok, it's fair to say you have a very small sample with him, BUT he was a very successful online player and he has been a VERY successful live high stakes player as well. He played very well against you at the Bike and he has played extremely well in all the live shows that are available for viewing online. He clearly has a really phenomenal feel for the live game. Maybe it's a philosophical disagreement you have with his approach because he plays more with "feel" than strictly GTO strategy, but you should be big enough to acknowledge that there is room for both of you in the game. Keep up the great work, guys!

    • @alexpalumbo5422

Completely agree. Doug has no respect for any other player. I've never heard him say that x player is 'very good'. He just shit on Torelli for making a great call vs him and great laydowns vs other opponents.
Doug you're a beast online, but Torelli is better live. Why don't u not overbluff in spots with 0% equity like 86cc on A92xK boards and maybe he wouldn't have called. Listen to ur own GTO strategies brah.

I'd love for you guys to be a spokesman for the future of streaming. The Aussie Millions IMO is leading the way in streaming with hole cards starting from the earlier stages of a tournament and going right through to the end. They change the feature table every blind level and broadcast the stream at the table so that all players have the same advantage/disadvantage. I feel the WSOP and EPT (as it was formerly known) is missing out on a golden opportunity here along with the current bay 101 tournament that's currently running and all others with major names in their fields.....

Lot's of fantastic managers/coaches right at the very top of the game yet lot's of these people were either average or just decent players but never 'great ones'. So to be a great coach doesn't mean you need to be a great player(in my humble opinion) - Don't worry Doug you will get there eventually I'm sure - *grins*

Come on Doug, obviously Alec Torelli is a great and successful player. He's been beating the hightakes games for many years and he maintained a luxury traveling lifestyle throughout. He's not living off inherited money and he's not living of his UA-cam revenue, he's living off poker. I understand why you don't have a ton of respect for live players in general, but Alec Torelli is certainly someone you should respect.

There is no problem with having categories of poker awards like Best Female Player. Obviously it's sexist but so what. They should also have a Best Comeback After Going Broke award for poker players who went broke but got staked and came back and a Lifetime Achievement Award for poker pros who are too old to compete anymore but were good once. Sam Grizzle is a good example.
